I'm an indonesian myself, but you have to give it to the filipinos about the blades. I've seen how good they are with blades, its like the blades has a mind of its own in their hands. Back then I was thinking "these people probably use snakes for their swords and knives training" 😂 Much love from country south below, neighbor!

ALMIGHTY GOD KABIR is the father of all souls that JESUS, MOHAMMAD, GURU NANAK, VEDH was telling in BIBLE, QURAN, GURU GRANTHA SAHEB .. In OLD Orthodox Jewish Bible KABIR is mentioned...KABIR means (ALMIGHTY GOD) in hebrew...but when translated in different languages translator removed KABIR word.....Quran written in arabic has also KABIR word....KABIR means Supreme in arabic.....In vedh also Kabir is mentioned.....U will get surprised that in Holy book of SIkh called PRAANSANGALI…. GURU NANAK himself described that Lord Kabir is his Guru and Lord KABIR met him..and in GURU GRANTHA SAHEB Guru Nanak called Lord kabir as kartar (GOD)..but todays Sikh says that GURU NANAK had no Guru........Just by reading holy books it is impossible to get depth knowledge of Holy text because we are just a living beings.. In vedhas also KABIR is mentioned...our brain isnot capable and doesnot understands the secrets behind the words and world.....JESUS AND MOHAMMAD both were aware of LORD KABIR but later followers were not able to get depth knowledge .....In bible it is written that Jesus was son of FATHER... then WHO IS THE FATHER? Brother/SISTER LORD KABIR has send the messenger in present time in the form of SAINT RAMPALJI MAHARAJ... BIBLE, QURAN, VEDH, GURU GRANTHA SAHEB are holy books of Christain, Hindu, MUlsim, SIKh & all these holy books are suggesting one ALMIGHTY GOD KABIR but today preachers of different religion doesnot understand the secrets thats why HUMAN society cannot get full benefits from ALMIGHTY GOD...As a result more and more people are becoming non believer..... … Any kinds of DISEASES(MENTAL, PHYSCIAL, SPIRITUAL), PARANORMAL ACTIVITY,CURSE,BLACK MAGIC,GHOST is cured by Getting Diksya (mantra ) from SAINT RAMPALJI MAHARAJ..Note: No charge is taken. .one can get MANTRA dikshya from INTERNET or BY PHONE CALL after getting dikshya evil things cannot hover around the person....ANY KINDS OF DIESEASES AIDS, CANCER , KIDNEY FAILURE IS HEALED BY SAINT RAMPALJI MAHARAJ......BUT ONE SHOULD NOT VIOLATE GODS RULES after becoming DISCIPLE of SAINT RAMPALJI MAHARAJ - NO MEAT, NO EGG, NO DRUGS( ALCOHOL, CIGARATEES, TOBACCO, MARIHUANA, COCAINE) -NO ADULETERY, NO PORN, NO POLYGAMY, NO PRE MARRIAGE SEX, -NO GAMBLING, NO STEAL -NO ABORTION Download free GYAN GANGA ,(WAY OF LIVING) JINEKI RAHE book on WWW.JAGATGURURAMPALJI.ORG or CALL OR SMS ON FOLLOWING NUMBERS TO GET GYAN GANGA , JINEKI RAHE(WAY OF LIVING) , GEETA TIMRO GYAN AMRIT FREE OF COST THROUGH OUT THE WORLD AND FREE COURIEIR SERVICE IS AVAILABLE For more spiritual knowledge Please Download free GYAN GANGA, WAY OF LIVING( JINEKI RAHE) book on WWW.JAGATGURURAMPALJI.ORG or CALL OR SMS ON FOLLOWING NUMBERS TO GET GYAN GANGA , JINEKI RAHE(WAY OF LIVING) , GEETA TIMRO GYAN AMRIT BOOK FREE OF COST THROUGH OUT THE WORLD AND FREE COURIEIR SERVICE IS AVAILABLE.. I read through the comments. You have to realize that Geographically, the Philippines is a separate island from large continents, and it was a hub during times of land bridges where so many tribes passed through and some stayed. That's why With so many tribes, Philippines has more than 200 dialects and each tribe has to defend themselves and trained as Warriors. I grew up in the Philippines for 22 years and Filipinos are very territorial. If you go to someone's territory and people don't know you, few or some may check you out. You have to be careful, and respectful of people, and be mindful of your surroundings. Some Filipinos trained on self defense such as Arnis, kali, switch blades. My Dad taught us Aikido, my grandpa taught as a bit of Kali when we were young enough to defend ourselves. To me, the best defense is to stay away or run if I can, and choose the place I went to. Filipinos by nature are Warriors.

Not blade...Magellan was killed by bow and arrow with fire by warriors of Lapu-lapu but Lapu-lapu wasn't there during the war. We can not categorized that as war because it seems like an ambush. That was written in the book of Pigafetta. The story was told to him by Duarte Barbosa who became the captain of the ship. Barbosa's command to the ship crews was to escape and leave the dying Magellan in the shore. While arrows stuck to his body lying in muddy shore Magellan was staring at Barbosa seems like telling him to go away in order to survive and they went back to Spain. This story was also featured in national geographic channel...We are very thankful to Magellan as he became instrumental to Christianized the Philippines. I believe he was a messenger of God.

@@IKSHATRIYA believe it or not, Japanese swordsmanship revolves around being careful and watching your opponents, why? Cause their blades are thin so they developed techniques to use thin blades, they even check if the handle is still good before sheathing swords. The naginata or the spear is better, but it's a bit too long and the blade is also quite long so it's made for slashing. Filipino martial arts on the other hand focuses on raw savagery and the mindset of killing your opponents as quick as possible without worrying about your surroundings that much. Phillipine blades are also thick so it doesn't matter even if the blade is dull cause it can still be used as a blunt weapon. All in all, each martial arts are good at things they are made for. There is no superior martial art

A knife fight is a prearranged match between two people. They agree on certain rules of the match. One such potential rule is first blood where the two fighter fight until one of the fighters draws the blood of the other. These rules are akin to any other competitive combat sport such as boxing or wrestling. Knife fighting techniques are not for self defense or self offence specifically however various techniques can be used for these purposes. Like any form of combat the types of weapons used have a profound impact on the techniques employed when using them. There are no two forms of knife fighting that are the same. They vary because of the weapons used. Dagger fighting, bowie knife fighting and stiletto fighting are all different although many principles are similar for all forms. All forms of knife fighting borrow the principles they employ from sword fighting. Fighting with a knife greater than 9 inches such as a dagger or bowie knife allows you to parry with the blade, however fighting with a knife less than 9 inches and the knife fight is primarily about evading the blade rather than blocking it. Fighting with a knife less than 9 inches a knife fighter might employ tricks such as switching hands and throwing objects or clothing into their opponents face in order to distract them. Like sword fighting knife fighting employs the eight angles of attack. Top bottom right left and the four in between. This is ubiquitous principle in martial sciences. Parries slashes and thrusts can all be executed by each of the eight angles. Footwork is an important component of knife fighting. A knife fighter can move forward backward laterally or diagonally. Move forward to advance. Move diagonally to create an angle to attack. Move backward to retreat or evade attack.

We used hard rubber knives in Bando martial arts training and tried popular disarm moves. After we trained on how to fight with the knife we were rewarded with sore fingers bruised hands and welts on our wrists and forearms . Even with long sticks and Baseball bats as long as you kept the knife moving and did slash and stab we could get in on the stick and inflict lethal damage. Even drawing a replica gun if we could get within 25 feet we could get a lethal strike in before the gun was aimed center mass. I love a knife for defense.

I told him you might as well do the real thing. My uncles were WW II vets when they passed away in Illinois they were given a military gun salute by the US Army. So sad that even former vice president Lopez and the presidential govt there did not even acknowledge his service to the Philippines. He was the private body guard and the vice president limousine driver in the 70's. Contrary to everyone's belief. The US did acknowledge their Allied soldiers especially in WW II.

The thing with knives is it is almost never a duel between 2 person when they are used, its usually one person pulls it out and surprise attack someone who is unarmed or just not ready. In the rare cases that 2 dumbasses decide to have a knife duel, no fancy moves are done, only the most basic moves with brutal speed and strength (check out the clip of the navy seal dude on the deadliest warrior show), and guess what, there are no winners, both person will be cut and the "winner" will die in the ambulance. Point to take away: don't get in a knife duel, fight it out with your hands if you must "duel," otherwise run away.

MaharlikaAWA is right, wasnt a spear but arrows with poison. though i am not so sure about him getting hit by spear but the one that killed him in the records was the poisoned arrow.

I used to have my balisong during my college days. my parents allowed me to have it out of self defense. guards of our school did not checked on me coz they became my friends. by the way, we have two bolos in our house. the first one is located in our master's bedroom and the second is hidden somewhere in the sala. also, in my office i have two rattan sticks under my table. my father told me that my lolos are part of bolo battalion during WW2 in bohol. thus, using bolo is part of our family's culture.
