are you kidding? I've heard many drummers do exactly what he does after a couple years of playing. I do think his simplistic approach works really in AC/DC
@freepressright
3 ай бұрын
@toddlavigne6441 no, not kidding. Groove and feel is something that either you have, by nature, or you grow into. 30 years of playing out in more cover bands and tribute bands than I can count, you have a lot of "good" drummers who still don't understand the nuances of driving a groove. Having a meter that's in touch with feel at all times is an attribute of a seasoned/mature musician, in many cases. It's more than playing a 4/4. Rudd managed to have a certain swagger and feel -- one thar was noticeably absent or vastly different when Simon Wright and Chris Slade were in the band. Slade had a fast meter. A lot of those songs lost their feel. Slade's strength though was how he could carry or push a shuffle groove. There's far more to playing than just playing the song outright. Mastering feel is something some musicians who have been playing for years and years still don't understand. It took me pairing up with a Vic Wooten trained bassist about 15 years ago to really teach me just how much groove matters. In everything.

are you kidding? I've heard many drummers do exactly what he does after a couple years of playing. I do think his simplistic approach works really in AC/DC
@freepressright

My first and only drum-teacher. Thank you, Mr. Rudd!

@@toddlavigne6441 I know it's been two years but I want to add in the Chris Slade was no slouch. There's a video of him and the band keeping a rhythm for like 10 straight minutes while Angus was working out some guitar problems. His endurance was amazing

@@thomasdaniels6824 I have to admit I think I have a negative bias against Phil Rudd because I don't like him as a human being. Chris Slade, I think is a good, good drummer. What a gig to play with a band like AC/DC What an accomplishment. But when people call Phil Rudd, the best?? That's a relative thing I suppose. He got the job with AC/DC and stuck with it. Good decision. He did a good job as their drummer. Kudos to them both. Living their dream.

Never feel bad for Chris Slade. Most people never get to play with AC/DC once. But he got to play with them twice.
Thee most under rated drummer ever. Genius in simplicity, making you beg for a break down, cymbal crash, or something. Then he denies you as the anticipation climbs, then explodes. Love Phil!!!

Awesome! I Feel glad to see Phil Rudd playing again!
It's great to see this professionell drummer exercising. You always see AC/DC performing, but they exercise a lot. Thank you Michelle.
It’s really hard to find rhythm guitarist base guitarist and the drummer who play solid and accuracy without any single mistakes. This band is perfect, fantastic no one come closer to them. Rock n Roll super stars.
thank you for showing this . Seeing all those awards for album sales should tell the world Phil is the greatest drummer of all time. Like Mal said he is the sound of ACDC .
One of the best rock drummer ever. Pure power and precision.

Hes caught a lot of crap over the years, but hes always been one of my favorite drummers. Hes got a solid, uncompromising, driving beat that's simple but powerful. A straight up rock n roll drummer who's tight and traditional...one of the best.

Shoot to Thrill is Phil Rudd at his best, great song.
There's no AC/DC groove without Phil Rudd. With him missing it just sounds wrong. The King.

Phil is the best drummer that ever drew breath
Phil Rudd, What ever you did or didn't do you are awesome I believe that thing's will get much better for you and your family. You are the master of the drums in your band of AC DC.
Great vid. A real insight into a superstar and how much he loves his music. Bravo!!!
Awesome stuff , Phil is THE drummer for my money ! I wish him well . Thanks for sharing this with us all . Rock hard always 🤘⚡🤘⚡🤘⚡
This is one of if not my favorite song a d that's because of the drum and guitar solo towards the end , everytime it comes on the radio at that part I tell everybody with me to listen and I crank it up even louder for that solo , You're the best .
1:22 Interesting to see him practising with a traditional grip which you would never see him play in a 'Live' setting. Perhaps there is more 'finesse' to Phil's playing than many previous contributors have given him credit for.
Thank you for your work,Phil!!! You rock,Dude! And thanks for playing the greatest drums in the World ^^ Cheers from Stuttgart,Germany!
Back stage? The ease of no suprise when catching her filming him says “ not another fkg camera “ He travels heavy for an old geeza! Much love and respect sent to you and yours Phil!
5 seconds into an AC DC tune you can tell if its Phill on drums or not. He has got a timing no one else does. The other drummers all been good BUT Phil got hes own way of locking a groove. Outstanding!! The best!

Yeah! I heard one time someone told me that they're jamming often some Blues and Jazz the fours together, I mean: Angus, Malcolm, Cliff and Phil of course.
He absolutely loves the band
When you're in a category of one there is no comparison. In the face of all the technicians Phil is the legend that cuts right through to the core and (with the exception of Ian Paice) influenced me like no other drummer.
1.38 - more chops than he plays with DC but have to admire how solid he is
Let me tell you this. He put a straight groove down the middle for the rest of the band to hang off. It blows you away the perfect timing of the beat. The frills and sugar candy is what Angus puts on it. Phill earnt his corn by doing that. People like me (drummer for 30 years I need to hit stuff it's in my make up) bonham and buddy and most have the same mental issue they gotta hit. It's just sad that Phil blew the gig. That's all. Peace x

Best AC/DC drummer ever!!! You can see that in this little video. He understands Malcolm and Angus blindly in the rhythm, call it swing or mood or whatever...He has the AC DC sound!!!! Maybe too much drugs?
That is what you call a collection

What a journey this blokes had. Starting with acdc back with the original successful line up in the 70s when Bon, Malcom, Angus and Mark were making tracks with some of the best acdc albums, then mark is replaced by Phil and Highway to hell breaks the American market, Bon dies, Brian is resurrected and they make the biggest selling album for any band..
