Both Phil and Elliott are longterm, all-time favs, and yet I've never noticed any connection or influence. Wild to hear this and realise it now.

This is a truly beautiful song (I didn't understand*). One of my favorites. After all these years, I still repeat in my head, like a couple times a week, "My feelings never change a bit, I always feel like shit, I don't know why I guess that I just do". lol I don't know why, it just sounds so good and is relatable I guess. Straight forward, simple really, and relatable, but also really beautiful.

I am a big fan of The Microphones-Mount Eerie-Phil Elverum and Elliott Smith. This is incredible, I always supposed that there is a connection between the music of Phil and Elliott.

It's also most likely a Beach Boys reference. It sounds like "Our Prayer".

@@mrfake675 honestly, similar to Elliott, they were probably cooked by their childhood and it was only a manner of time. I'm glad we got what we did. Crazy that Brian is still alive.

nobody broke your heart, if you’re alone it must be you who wants to be apart! phil voices how i feel about elliotts music so well, like the thing he says about X-ray vision on the world and people, so true

I covered I didn’t understand last night .. love this song love Phil and Eric’s trip and this whole lil circle of rock/indie music

My favorite ES song is Twilight

I live in Portland and anytime I make a trip to the H-Mart on SE Belmont, I make a point to pass by Elliott's house where he recorded Roman Candle. I think the house is owned by James Mercer from The Shins now.

"Not sad whatsoever" seems like a denial. I understand not wanting sad-sack stereotypes but saying not whatsoever is not right, not half right Lol. But to each their own...

Elliott smith is great. His acoustic live solo stuff is the best to me. His studio stuff is too jumbled and filled for me.
