I'm 45, but I feel the same. One of my favorite things is watching people watch Phil Collins live who never knew he was a drummer. There's always a moment of "wait...what?! Am I in the Twilight Zone?" that is absolutely priceless. I'm kind of in that sweet spot with Phil's music where I loved it as a kid as he was releasing it, but was also young enough to miss the divorce shenanigans.

The day Phil Collins became the coolest man on earth.
This is rock and roll. Full stop. No fireworks, no dancers, no twerking. Pure talent. And, this is live. And the thing about rock and roll, the groups sound the same live, in concert, as they do on the records. Phil Collins is a master! And, he is a pretty nice guy, true rockers do not take the adulations that seriously. There is no rock anymore. times change, of course. But the genre has pretty much gone by the wayside. Not surprising, music does evolve. But, I like that younger gens are willing to listen to music outside their comfort zone, and finding out, hey! Old guys were pretty good!

Quite simply, that is the MAGIC THAT PHIL BRINGS!! Phil Collins has been in entertainment since he was a kid (as a child actor, playing in West End plays like Oliver Twist. This is a song that brings up so many emotions about our childhood by a whole lot of people. The drum part is what we wait for in anticipation from the very first note.
Best part is watching folks who didn't know Phil was a genius drummer. Love it.
Phil Collins is one of a hand full of artists that can perform flawlessly. His writing is second to none. Have saw him several times. One of my favorites, along with Steve Perry, Ann Wilson, Don Henley and Sammy Hagar. There is no need for auto turning with these artists.
This is autobiographical. He was going through a bitter bitter divorce and these were his feelings. Many of his songs are about his life. He has had rotten luck with his relationships. He was also an actor…..that’s what he initially trained to do, so he could bring that feeling and look of menace to his face which adds so much to the vibe. If you didn’t know, he also wrote the music for Disney’s Tarzan movie and the following stage musical.
Did you really not know that the Great Phil Collins could bang out on the drums like this? He is probably one of the greatest performers of all time. He definitely has one of the best singing voices there is to this date. Phil Collins is the man!
Being over 68 year old disabled Physical Therapist and a Hard Cord Core Rock n Roll Junkie.....THANK YOU. My love of recordings in the form of Vinyl is now going to my grandchildren!
I was so lucky to get to see him 2x within a couple of years apart from each other, 2019 and 2022 respectively. He still has it vocally, but it’s so sad to see him not doing well health wise.
