I saw them do this in Houston (Tx). About seven (7) times. You are right. WOW !!! Actually, I don't think that this is even the best of the Phil/ Chester duets. They have other more spectacular duets. Maybe someone else will submit one/ some? If you have something ... the GENESIS world is waiting ! :-)

I think Chester and Phil to be the best Drummers in the World, I missed it at the time, had no money or job in the 80,s even had to look for dropped potatoes outside Plymouth market, nothing to eat, tough times cooking in a kettle, but the weather was best.

Watch playing Clapton and the way he compliments Clapton and blends with the bassist seamlessly.
They are not very expressive people, but when given a drumset, something absolutely beautiful can come out.

Tarun Karthik Thats their way of expressing themselves! I am a quiet reserved person but when I hop on my kit and get going thats the only way ive ever been comfortable and confident has always been behind the kit. Same w Neil Peart reserved but on the kit a total beast and really comes alive.

This is no slam against Chester, who is an absolutely brilliant drummer, but notice how Chester tends to play with both hands close together, while Phil is doing different things with his two hands. I'm not saying one is better than the other, but it's a fascinating insight into how different drummers play.

Phil's technique is quite unique really, isn't it? And the way he sits so low on his kit, while Chester sits really really high. Different approaches, but there is something special in the way Phil approached the drums...

i've always loved Phil Collins' drumming - but, I never ectually liked the drum duets. I always thought they were quite boring in comparison to Phil's drum parts in the songs (especially the old ones). To me, the drum duets are "basic" and quite cliched... but this opinion is coming from a genuine collins-drumming fan

He grew his beard & hair in 1979-1980 during the Brand X & Duke tours...look at all the 1980 Duke footage & video clips. The ballroom gig was a BBC broadcast from May 1980.

Except Chester NEVER played any drum part the way Phil played it on the record (Genesis or solo). He couldn't do it so he made the parts his own. Phil had a very unique sense of time and feel that Chester never was able to duplicate. Sorry, but Chester was maybe a better technical drummer but just couldn't play like Phil.

i've always loved Phil Collins' drumming - but, I never ectually liked the drum duets.
