They each have their place, I generally use phasers for distorted kicks, flanger for acid, and chorus for lead synths but I'd be lying if I said flanger wasn't my favorite

Guitar on Love Hurts by Nazareth is using a phaser. No other effect really fits that riff. The phaser is my go to effect and it can cover more ground than other modulation pedals

Chorus is a meat & potatoes pedal, but you can get a flanger to sound like all three of these. You could've thrown in a univibe pedal too

Fun fact: The reason the flanger sounds like a jet flying is because a jet’s sound and its reflection off the ground hit your ear at different times. As the jet moves the delay changes just like a flanger!

Chorus is easily the most popular, but I’d go with Flanger as it’s the most versatile. It’s capable of doing chorus-ey effects, but also can go pretty hard with its weirdness.

Worth mentioning that a chorus is also based off of short delay lines, just like a flanger! But typical chorus pedals do not "feed back" the signal back into the circuit as much.

Analogman bi chorus pedal is a great pedal. I use it alot through my 65 DRRI and Performer Stratocaster. I sometimes boost it with a Keeley overdrive.
