16:01 These Stadler FLIRT’s will be extremely beneficial to the branch as it runs though a fairly dense part of the Chicago suburbs and has stations every 4 blocks. The units are also being built so that future electrification will be incredibly simple as they change using a pantograph and are built to be able to run off of standard overhead power.
Glad to see another episode of this great series! Hopefully most if not all of the intercity and long distance passenger rail proposals eventually come to fruition, since they're restoring services to places that haven't seen any in decades. Otherwise, I'm glad to see Tri Rail finally going to Miami Central, and the Genesis looks amazing in Phase 7.
I thought it would have been at least worth mentioning that MBTX 846 & 1811 were recently wrapped into new Veterans wraps to essentially replace 1528

I thought I would miss the monthly format, but I'm getting to like the quarterly format better. Sure, there is a lot to digest in that time frame, but it seems you are able to expand a little more detail on those specific news stories.
As much as I'd love to have a train ride to NH from RI, it's kinda weird to start with going through Worcester and Lowell

i wonder if you'll cover worldwide railroad news too. Like the peruan railroad acquiring a former UP C41-8W, and the Rumo train wreck caused by a collision with a semi in Rolândia
I'd bet them SC-42DM's would save Metro North a lot of money on fuel cost knowing they can run on third rail for a long time.
12:44 I personally think Hitachi should've won the contract for LA Metro not just on price, but also I would've wanted to see something from them since they've built trains for only a small handful of subway systems including Miami, and the new 8000 series trains for WMATA.
Always a good day when you upload ❤
We’re finally getting new rail cars here in Cleveland Ohio as well
“Renewable natural gas?” Yikes, just more greenwashing. Thanks for the great video, though!
You missed the CN 103 donation to the GB railroad Muesum which happened yesterday.
I wouldn’t mind if Amtrak had a passenger version of the ES44C4 for the long distance trains. There is room in the inverter cabinet for two more inverters: one for HEP for the train and another one as a spare. Such a unit would also have a large fuel tank instead of the relatively small tank and its engine and radiator could be similar to those of the freight locomotives. These would also be cheaper than pure passenger locomotives. These engines could also be readily converted to freight when the more expensive pure passenger locomotives are funded and available.

“Who knew a locomotive could be in mla format” 💀💀💀💀💀
The reason Metrolink can't electrify their system is because not all the tracks they run on are theirs. Some of the tracks are owned by UP or BNSF or Amtrak. The amount of their OWN tracks are very small so the cost of electrification wouldn't be economical. The only way I'd see it happening is If Amtrak proposes it and even then, their tracks are very limited too

@StefanWithTrains3222
3 ай бұрын
Why?
In another strange turn of history, it turns out that the perfect technical solution in transportation to climate change has appeared late in the ` game '. That solution is named hydrogen. In the meantime, developers of train systems have been working on developing electric, i.e. battery-' powered locomotives. But , for a variety of reasons, these are not a long term solution to the problem. So the task now is for all concerned is to switch focus and work out everything necessary to convert all locomotives to hydrogen.
Metra should get locomotive hauled train cars not Stadler EMUs

What is "renewable natural gas?"
@DarkLink1996
3 ай бұрын
Well you ever smell natural gas or seen on TV or Movies. Ever see how they say that they smell rotten eggs or skunk. Basically they get that natural gas and turn it into a liquid form. They're basically harnessing a resource the earth gave us. Like Coal or Water power plants
Biomethane, Hydrogen Fuel Cells, Battery Electric Multiple Units. It's amazing all the effort, of backflips & contortions, that Rail Operators are investing in finding these Alternative answers for Zero Emission Trains, instead of using those resources for the real answer of 25kVAC OHC Electrification, because that infrastructure would be "too expensive". That's all before any false accounting, such as "Clean Hydrogen Fuel" produced using Steam Reformed Fossil Methane.

Sorry America, still to slow and still behind France, Spain, Italy, Germany, Austria, Sweden, Belgium, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Russia United kingdom and ofcourse the far more advanced countries of the far east which are currently advancing to a far greater achievement. Maglev super train technology. Magnetic levitation gives these trains the ability to travel at speeds of up to 375 mph and not a ripple on your martinis. In Japan, ofcourse, a maglev train called the Cho Shinkansen is under construction between Tokyo and Nagoya and then Osaka. When this is completed, im going to trave there to be one of the few americans to experience this great technological modern marvels of transportation. Because the demo experience dosent count. I give a hats off though to the state of California for being the first in the United States to take on the endeavor of highspeed bullet train technology reaching speeds of up to 225 mph. Good luck to you California. May it finally open the eyes of America. Highspeed bullet train technology which is also, (fully electric) is something the mighty United States of America should of had decades ago. Wake up America!
