The entire 2019 season of Beste Zangers is worth your while! Henk was Andre Lloyd Webber's favourite actor in the role of the Phantom, and a childhood hero of Floor. In fact the sneaky producers got Floor to participate in the show by telling her they had already booked Henk! They became great friends during filming and appeared on stage together multiple times. In fact Henk played the Phantom in Nightwish's first performance of this song since Tarja had left - wearing a Nigtwish T-shirt.

When Floor was asked for this show, she wanted to decline, but when she heard that Henk Poort was in it, she immediately said yes! Henk Poort is THE Phantom of the Opera in the Netherlands (and a fav of Lloyd Webber). Floor has adored Henk since her teens. Henk did not know Floor before the show. He loves her voice now too. Floor asked if Henk would sing the Phantom of the Opera with her. An old item on Floor's bucket list. Sing Phantom with Henk. Henk agreed, on the condition that he might sing the Phantom of the Opera with Nightwish when they would give a concert in the Netherlands. Floor agreed, then COVID came along, so with two years delay Floor (and Nightwish) performed this with Henk during a live concert in Amsterdam. Floor called this performance you now commented on "a highpoint in my career, something that happens very rarely" on Dutch TV later on.

Henk Poort is a famous Dutch opera singer and he did many musicals❤❤

Henk Poort is an opera singer. He never sang with grit before this show. When Floor asked him to do this song with him, he asked if he could perform with Nightwish once, which they later did. Floor had long been a fan of him, but he didn't know her beforehand. He later said that Floor isn't a singer but a vocal artist, calling it unbelievable what she can do with her voice. All the people on this show are famous Dutch singers, with Floor being the least known, but they were all pretty much dumbfounded by her. The thunder you hear in the beginning is real btw. It's in a big tent and it was even leaking; a suitable end to the show's season.

There's a live version of Nightwish doing this song with Henk out there.

This is how it should be sung. In a classic voice not full blown opera. It's a musical not an opera.

Well, but if you do a cover of a musical song, and change the female voice to operatic and the male voice to rock/metal.....Thats still breathtaking ! And i am a 100% Floor fan.

Hhhmmm, not sure there is a right or wrong in art. And even though it is a musical, Christine (the character) is an opera singer. It makes perfect sense to me to adhere to the characters singing style, but if you don't, that seems perfect as well. (at least to me)

The song was singed by many times, by many persons, in deffrenet places , even by Floor, she has at least four versions and two of them with Henk Poort, but this one is the best, here she shows all her talents in musical theater and metal and opera, when compared with Tarja, Tarja can be a super car, a limousine or a bentley for someone, but Floor Jansen is an autobot from the movie Transformers, she can be anyone, always remaining an excellent performer, and here she is very beautiful also.

Add another concert to the list: During the pandemic Floor gave a solo concert in Amsterdam with songs from all her former bands: kzread.info/dash/bejne/ppOg09iThqbdc6Q.htmlsi=Td5XRFshxnjRx0DS There should be no copyright issues with this concert. As there were only a few (2?) shows, a lot of fans wouldn't have been able to see the concert. So Floor started a crowdfunding campaign for getting it recorded. The necessary money was raised in no time and so this video exists to be viewed by everyone. Another version of Phantom of the Opera with Henk is also part of the concert. You still have a lot to discover. For example Floor's own band Revamp. Before that, she was in the band *After Forever* together with Mark Jansen who later founded Epica. They are also awesome. I see them as some kind of prototype version of Epica.

The 2019 season of Beste Zangers is imho the best of all seasons because all the other singers didn't know Floor and what she was capable of so their surprise and reactions were truly genuine. The last episode of every season is a duet one and this song was the very last. Just before Floor and Henk started this song a huge rainstorm went over the tent and it started seriously leaking in several places, you can see the raindrops falling in the water and on the table. That was a huge concern, water and all the electricity and instruments!, but they went ahead and the rest is history as they say. Floor finally became famous in our country which doesn't like metal music that much. Even though all the other performances are great, even the one with NW, I like this one best because of its intimacy. But that shouldn't stop you from reacting to the other ones! Enjoy!

Now I highly suggest: Nightwish - The Phantom Of The Opera (ft. Henk Poort) (live in Amsterdam) 2022. I was there and it was amazing! 🤘🤘

If you want to see The Phantom with Nightwish as rendered by Floor, this is it. There is no other version (that I am aware of). I was there too, and though I like it a lot, I actually prefer this Beste Zangers version. Thee are other recordings of Henk and Floor performing it together by the way, as they did a bit of a tour and also opened for Metallica.

It is not without reason people call her the very best Female vocalist in the world. And besides her amazing voice she controls the helpless audience, is in total control of her performance. What a power woman..

To complete the set, Nightwish doing Phantom with Henk Poort in 2022, live in Amsterdam is a must, as you have the full Nightwish metal arrangement (as played in the 2005 version) combined with Floor’s singing. It’s a shame that we never got a version of Phantom with Floor and Marko, but there you go. Henk is a great singer, performed the role on stage and, as some have mentioned, was someone Floor admired growing up as he is a well known performer in the Netherlands both in musical theatre and classical repertoires. They also perform the song live in Floor’s solo concert; also good, but I’d say that the Nightwish at Ziggo Dome is the one. Great cat action by the way. Those cats - presumably quite young and very playful - started out with some playful wrestling behind your right shoulder and then continued as a constantly evolving backdrop to your reaction. Both the reaction and the cats were enjoyable.

Sorry for the late reply; but this dropped while I was on vacation. It should be noted that Henk Poort had never done distorted vocals before this show, as they tend to be frowned upon in the opera/classical community. On Floor's "night" on the show where the others singers sing songs that either have special meaning for her or are in her performing catalog, Henk decided to do "Sound of Silence" for her. Since she is a metal singer, he decided to do it in the style of the Disturbed cover of the song and added grit to his voice like David Draiman (lead singer of Disturbed) did [go and listen to the original "The Sound of Silence" by Simon and Garfunkel and then watch the Official video for Disturbed's cover version followed by their live performance on Conan O'Brien]. Henk then surprised everyone again, as can be seen by their reactions, by deviating from his normal smooth vocals on this version of "Phantom".

You really should check the Hellfest concert , Floor is really on fire. Noise, Planet Hell and Shoemaker are musts to see. Kind regards from the Netherlands ❤

Henk Poort was Floors idol, when she was a girl. She was super happy to sing with him in this series. Henk is a baritone opera singer, but also sang the lead parts big Broadway musicals. (Les miserable, Phantom of the opera and many more. The writer A.L Webber said in a review that Henk was his favourite Phantom, such an honour. Nightwish/Floor invited him on stage during their concert in Amsterdam (I was there with my 3 daughters) and it was amazing. Because we all love FLoor, Henk and Nightwish. In Holland we call Henk, Ome Henk (Uncle Henk) because he is the most humble and sweet singer I know, besides Floor. He lives in Amsterdam and is just one of us. Lovely man. This tv show is about 6 singers (every year 6 others of course) and they, the women and men sitting around the table are awesome singers too. There is no rivalry, but just enjoying each others songs and company, make it in your own genre and sing it for that certain singer. It's worldwide famous, I ain't lying😂 Sharon from Within temptation and Anneke from the gathering also were guests in other years. We have a lot of very talented singers, for such a small country. Must be in the water and we have LOTS of water. Also most female singers are classical trained and sing in metal bands. Good luck with moving!

As you have probably now realised, this 'Reality' TV show runs 7 or 8 weekly episodes each year, this 2019 season being the 12th. Floor was so impressed by the show's house band, the Marcel Fisser Band, that she contracted them to be her regular backing band for her increasingly numerous solo shows.

Great choice and a dream for Floor comes true.. singing with THE Phantom and one Childhood-Star (he is the NL-Phantom and well known; sadly more then Floor in the NL.... till then)

Henk Poort is an Dutch singer that has actually played the Phantom in play. Since this isn't opera but a play.

Love beste zangers but it’s not live in a true sense. There’s a lot of post production making it’s sound a lot cleaner than a proper live version. There’s a reason none of the singers ever has a bad performance on that show.

I knew you would love this performance. Queen Floor is an absolute Goddess and Henk is amazing as the Phantom. You really need to see the Nightwish version with Henk. You have already reacted to a lot of the Wacken performance. So if you’re going to do a full performance, I think you should watch the show from Buenos Aires or my favorite, the Tampere performance.

Henk is an actor and singer who plays in operas and musicals in the Netherlands. Well respected dude and a legend out there in his home country. Their perfomance of Phantom of the Opera will be in future dvd release.

I had music video duty for my class reunion. Slipped this in and all chatter just came to a stop for the duration. In the live 2022 version, she holds that D6 even longer!

To perform this song & sell it, there needs to be an air of tension & connection between them , they played it perfectly.

We all knew you'd love this version. Henk Poort played the Dutch version of the musical Phantom for years. He was Floor's hero when she was growing up. Every song Floor did on the show - maybe 5 songs - were off the charts. IMO, one thing that gets overlooked here is the band supporting these two as they sing, especially the bass player and drummer. HOLY SMOKES THEY ROCKED

That was the night the internet broke down in the Netherlands (no kidding). After that performance, Floor became a star in her own country. I told you, be prepared for incoming Floorgasms(and the journey hasn't even started) 😉👍👏 check out also "vilja lied" "mama" "Euphoria" and "que se siente" from the same show and you'll get a more universal taste of what this Woman can do(although everything is so easy for her)

The Wembley concert as Richard Dawkins actually appears on stage to recite his spoken word part in "The Greatest Show On Earth" which is normally part of the pre-recorded backing track. As a fan of both Nightwish and Richard Dawkins this is the icing on the cake. I also think the Buenos Aries concert is underrated.

I agree!! That concert is awesome, I watch it often.

This is definitely my favorite version of Phantom. They got all the little details to come together just perfectly. As for doing whole concerts, pick any one. All of NW's live concerts are pure gold. Most people start with Wacken 2013, but they're all incredible. Just make sure you find the official DVD uploads and not something made by a fan with a crappy, shaky cellphone in the screaming audience. One caveat about the Buenos Aires 2018 official upload: If I remember correctly, Dead Boy's Poem is cut off and dropped midstream. I would imagine it had something to do with copyright strikes. But I think you did DBP already, so it won't be a big deal. I see Pepper and Cayenne are at it again providing the secondary side show! So cute!!! 😽😽 (Two kitty kiss emojis, one for each)

Wacken is great, but buenos aires is magical with lots of old songs :)

For me beste zangers is the best version so far

I would suggest the Wembley 2015 concert as you get to hear another version of Ghost Love Score, and The Greatest Show on Earth plus The Poet and the Pendulum again. And some great songs such as Shudder Before the Beautiful, Seven Days to the Wolves and Yours is an Empty Hope where Floor growls.

My favourite version in fact. I prefer it to the version with Nightwish but you have to watch that at Ziggodome 2022 just for the end. Buenos Aires 2018 is the best show of all. Lots of oldies reimagined by Floor (and Troy).

'Beste Zangers' has a double meaning in Dutch. Indeed it is Best singers, but also Dear Singers, as in an introduction.

All these other guests are famous singers in the Netherlands, and too think they were this impressed by someone they had never heard of before the show, and who was just some “metal chick” as far as they knew. Beste Zangers 2019 put Floor Jansen on the map in her home country. Prior to that she was known mostly by the not so big Dutch metal community. She was better known outside her own country where metal might be more mainstream.

Just for your information: this is NOT a Nightwish song. This song is the main theme song from a musical.

The Greatest Show on Earth is a difficult choice. Visually the Tampere version is more spectacular, but the Wimbledon version has Richard Dawkins (who's book was the inspiration for the song) in it.

If you could please react to all of Floors appearances in this 2019 season. But please, please, please react to the videos with the intro and outro comments with English subtitles Better yet the entire season with English subtitles You'll be blown away
