I've been flying drones for about seven years now. I have a mavic zoom with smart controller and a mini 2 as well as several cheap drones just for fun. I'm a retired aerospace worker and needed something to keep me busy (out of trouble). I recently had the opportunity to buy a phantom 3 standard that is in excellent condition from a family member who just didn't have the same love of flying them. I've modified it to have FAA aircraft standard lighting (red on port (left) only, green on starboard (right) only with a few 5mm white LEDs facing forward. All are powered off of the motherboard and except for the white lights were an easy modification (have to drill holes). I'm still on the fence about tinkering with the up and down link antennas. A range booster for the camera and controller may be on the way too. After flying the others I can say that it is definitely a heavy stick drone meaning that the flight characteristics are about what I expected for such a heavy machine. It definitely goes through battery power faster than the others but it will handle some wind that the other lighter drones will not. I've had it at 200 feet AGL (above ground level) in roughly 12 mile an hour winds hovering and it was fairly stable with minimal drift of about one foot each direction due to gusting. My battery lasted about one third less because of the wind. Even taking off and landing in a cross wind was manageable. The camera is fine for my purposes as I mainly record video of flights in case of a wipeout lol. Ironically the exact P3S that I now have is the very first drone that I had ever seen and I'm glad I was given the opportunity to buy it. I would agree that it can still be a fun machine to fly. Just understand it's features and limitations and you'll be fine.

i got one from a friend for $150 pluss squashing $150 he owed me that i wasnt holding my breath over. so far so good.

i bought mine for 250 usd. Worst thing is the short range and that its so damn big. If i would have bought a drone today, i would definetley have put in some extra money and bought like a mavic with longer range and its smaller.

It’s all about use! I liked that you mentioned to work around the limitations. I just picked up a P3S for a great price. I just need it for a few shots once in a while. For now, it is a great starter drone for me.

I drove an hour to make a trade on a old 1/5 scale that I had for a trade on a Dji phantom 3 & let me tell you I love this thing, it's just amazing.

I still got my P3s since 2016 and from time to time I make use of it, for me upgrading to the next generation drones is still depends on your needs. Nice video bro it makes some sparks to me to fly again my drone today :)

Nice video, I agree! I fly a lot with the PH3 st and Spark. About both of them people say they are outdated and I should get mini or mavic 2 instead. But...I'm pretty happy with results. For some reason it's more fun for me to squeeze as much as possible from those drones.

I got mine in a yard sale for 50 dollars and it came with a lot of accessories and used drone and controller only with few scratches works perfect and it came with a case

I own 2 P3S's, bought new back around 2016. This quad holds its own with the best. Does everything I need & I don't have 1000's of bucks hanging in the sky.

Great timing for me. Just recently found an interest in drones. At a swap meet this past weekend, I saw a Phantom 3 for sale that looks like new and the owner claims it works perfectly. And he has everything needed to begin learning. I think the price was fair and a little under the price you mentioned for a used Phantom 3. I am guessing it was the Standard model. Great video. I am looking to get one of these for my boyfriend and found one for a very reasonable price new in box never opened. He's been playing around with racing drones but really likes flying around taking footage.

Got mine used a year ago, came with a case, extra battery and blades for $100.... Works great.

I bought one this morning with a backpack and a fly more for $225. It's still worth that much!

Got mine perfectly working and not used a lot for 150€ and its awesome!

Still have Phantom 3 SE haven't even really flown. Got it in 2017 from Best Buy. Ready to use it!

I had the Phantom 1 a while back, got it for free after my buddy sunk it into a pond. I opened it up, cleaned it up, and replaced very few parts. Later I sold it. I missed it, but yesterday I just got a Phantom 3s with extras, 2 batteries, the camera (gimbal needs some TLC) and a very nice DJI branded back pack case all for $20! In 2022 it's still a great drone! Love it! I watched this video to get some more info about it, and very happy with my purchase. Parts seem to be getting harder to locate :/

I got a phantom 3 standard as well i had it a year now and bought in UK secondhand for £200 with 4 batteries which was pretty good...plus the big point to remember on this drone if you break it then its cheap to fix

I bought the phantom 3 when it first came out for about 700 dollars. That drone was stolen from me by my ex "boss" who i hesrd gave it to his kids as a Christmas present. I bought a used P3 with carry case on ebay about 4 years later for 300 and it worked great till i broke gimble about 2 years ago. I just bought my third P3 for 65 bucks on ebay (drone only) and it works perfect. Have new gimble sensor on the way for my other. I have taken the P3 up to 1,650 feet....In unrestricted airspace of coarse.. handles great. Have flown it 7,000 feet away over open ocean and back from a moving boat. Have flown in gail force wind over open ocean to a half mile away and back, landing on a moving steel hulled ship. Have lost signal for 20 min over water, climbed to the highest roof i could find, caught signal on 2% and flew it back, catching it as it died Amazing drone. Will be buying the next 60 dollar one I find.

So wondering if this is good I found one of these for 200 with 3 batteries a case and a heca amount of props should I get it

I just took the one I bought in 2015/16 out of the box and the battery doesn't seem to be charging? Is that normal? Thanks.

Bee R I have enjoyed the P3S for about 3.5 years. I've always flown with my phone or my verizon ellipsis tablet, now the tablet does not recognize the DJI go app. Is there a tablet that the P3S can be flown with?

DJI has a list of devices that are compatible with the DJI Go app. DJI is constantly changing this list so definetly go check it out from their actual website: www.dji.com/downloads/djiapp/dji-go-3

Every drone definitely does NOT have a gimbal, and a 3-axis gimbal is the best.

Does the app still work ok?

Naw that stoped production of the phantom 3

As a beginner for someone getting into flying drones but a cheap one to learn how to fly one.

Reports I am hearing is they are not hovering well. Everyone is recalibrating compass, controller and IMU. Still not solving the drifts. Did DJI do this on purpose? Why should it not fly as when new if the drone is undamaged and the last firmware was a solid performer. I think the Mini 2 is a solid performer to start with. But remember Drone Remote ID is on the horizion with the FAA.

I recommend when editing, cut between the breaths in between each sentence

I love my p3 standard but there is no way I'm flying it over my dji mini 2 or mavic mini. I agree with you saying this isn't a drone to buy in 2020-21. I don't recommend using the p3 at all.

Dominic, please help!! The DJI GO app, running my Phantom 3 Standard stoped showing ANY camera related buttons, bars. Thus I cannot take any pictures or shoot a video. No access to that stuff. Please help!! Maestro Smirnov, 73 California

What kind of device is your app on? It’s possible that your device is no longer supported by DJI. Here is a list of supported devices: www.dji.com/downloads/djiapp/dji-go-3

@@Dom_the_Bomb sorry for misunderstanding, Dominic! The devices I tried to install the DJI GO App on are: iPhone 8, iPad Mini 2, iPhone 13 Pro. Neither of these shows he camera bar or camera related buttons.

Ok so I have a phantom 3 standard ok 4K 60 FPS to 2.7k you can capture a lot of really good quality still higher frame rate like 4K is not really worth it right now and takes up so much more space. I bought mine new from Walmart for $500. I was wanting a p2 vision plus

I hate to tell anyone my source but if you check MPB.com they have $19 batteries for it. I got two for $19 each and both had less than 10 cycles on them when I tried them was a really awesome deal.

don't fly in low temperatures, check gimbal rubbers and you may try shooting in 30fps and that slow that to 24 fps. (80%). And...apply 180 degree rule

Yay, I was lucky enough to have one given to me by someone who is getting a newer/smaller one. So psyched to just learn to master into other models later. I was curious w/ 3D printers, cameras etc. that "After-Market" components could propel the Standard to Professional.

I just want a bigger drone to fly on days that are windy.

I flew P3s in ~8-10 m/s wind. No doubts, controlling PH4pro was easier in that conditions, but p3s was possible aswell. (Both in Atti mode, no gps cheating ;) )
