Phalaenopsis Bloom Tour! - Alternatives to the big flower shop Phalaenopsis
Today we take a chill, relaxing tour of my favorite Phalaenopsis orchids, which are just starting to bloom!
🦋 More info below! 🦋
Phalaenopsis can get a bit.. boring.. if all you can see in flower shops are those tall, space consuming typical Phalaenopsis. Especially if you don't have a lot of space, even having 2 or 3 can become problematic!
Consider mini Phalaenopsis! They are the same thing, but on a much smaller scale!
Also google some orchid nurseries in your area, they have some amazing hybrids that you'll probably not see in shops any time soon!

Shilleriana is endemic here in the Philippines. They flower during the months of April to May. We call them tiger orchids because of their leaf patterns☺️
Thank you for keeping up with your video schedule. I'm having a very hard and fearful time and hearing you talk about orchids gives me a bit of peace.
Your girls look great! I also love when Maya and Joey make a cameo appearance. 🐦🌼🌺💮🌸
This is brightening my long days of isolation 👍
Love warm orange, red and coral colors too. I was just wanting the large full grown phals but now that I've watched this video I want the mini phals too. And I can get more of them. Absolutely love your videos. When you go on vacation I go back and watch the old ones, that's what I'm doing now. Look forward to seeing your next videos.
I fell deep down the rabbit hole for mini phals. I resisted for years, bought my first mini phal almost 3 years ago and now care for 65 before realizing how many I had. Their compact (mostly) size and the amazing colors make them harder to resist. Kudos to your lovely collection 👏
I LOVE mini phals...I have over 15 myself. I know this video was done 9 months but I thoroughly enjoyed it!! Please keep us updated on your minis!! Love your videos!!
I wanted to thank you for your videos. All my Phals have regrown flower spikes. I even rescued a Phal, repotted, fed it and it bloomed. The police station couldn’t be happier when it was returned. The amount of flowers produced are amazing. 🙏🏼 😀 PS I just purchased some mini phals for $3 each and feel very comfortable taking care of them now. Thanks again!
I thought that I wouldn’t like mini phals, but I got one as a gift and it gives me so much joy. Thank you for showing us your blooms!
My orchids wishlist just doubled its size thanks to this video XD I'm taking the advice of going for the mini phals given that I don't have a lot of space.

@@evarene07 jajaja when they are irresistible you forget about space. My problem is that I look at the flowers and if I'm lucky some are small plants but others not so much. I recently fell for two catts: a harpophylla, small with beautiful intense orange flowers, but right next to it there was a beautiful lobata, totally the opposite in size but I couldn't resist.
Thank you for sharing these wonderful mini-phals. I enjoyed your annotation as well as Maya's occasional appearance.
You have the best phals 😍 that 997 is amazing Also, love the longer vids 👌🏽
That spotted Phal shown at 7:00 is absolutely sensational. It has something of Chinese art on it. Brava!
Yes I think it was me who commented all that time ago:)it's Phal. Chia E Yenlin (I still have mine, but she grew a lot- now she looks more like a medium than the mini that I bought her as). It also started appearing in orchid nurseries but in the varigated version.

My mini chia e yenlin got a terminal spike and i'm trying to find another one like that but haven't seen it anywhere :( also it grew a keiki that has a terminal spike.
Wow! The Phal. Yaphon Cupid looks so so beautiful! Yellow and with freckles 💛😍
Mituo and Miro hybrids are everywhere at the moment! I just purchased a Miro Jo Sun 'Eddy' ( Hsinying Fanjo cross with Mituo Sun), a gorgeous white background with red dots phal in Singapore.
Wow, Dani, you have so many beautiful Phals! I love them!!
Wow that sogo grape one is absolutely beautiful. Thanks for showing all this variety
Great video! Very relaxing ^^ I absolutely fell in love with your Phal. Pink Flamingo! Just OMG, if you ever get a keiki on that one, could I please please get the grabs on it? Haha! Anyway, it's encouraging to do some more peasant orchid hunting!
Gorgeous phals! I love the minis I have stopped growing the regular sized phals since I can keep so many more plants with the minis!
Now those are all gorgeous!!!!!!!!!! I can see why you prefer these then the standards. Although the Standards do present a show. I have only 1 mini phal which is in spike and looking forward to seeing its blooms. Thank you for the tour and have a safe and great day.
Wow. Haven't seen your videos for a while and these phalaenopsis are gorgeous. Thanks Dani.
Чудесные фаленопсисы 😊 прекрасные экземпляры, парочку отметила для себя в желаемые 😉
I enjoyed watching your phalaenopsis orchid video tour very beautiful collection of plants🌱 I like the long orchid videos you do keep this theme of long videos it’s wonderful 😁 Happy Growing 🌿🌸
Discovering the joy of the minis myself! I have two rehab that were the JIA in plugs, and one that was a JIA but was packed in spagnum moss- she is doing the best (and looks almost exactly like your purple unidentified mini, but the lips have the white lace look & there's only a small amount of the white on the rest of the bloom). No clue what kind they are, JIA just says "hybrid" & they're all v different; super lovely tho! Loving the minis
I NEED this one 7:06 . I believe Phals with this petal shape are called butterfly. I have a couple minis and one large Phal with big lips. LOVE them! I NEED this one too 16:25. I volunteer to adopt it since you don't love it, but I do! 😂 The minis have been bred to branch. I need 22:24 too. 🤣 I am in love with my Little Gem Stripes. She has a giant (for her size) bloom spike and is blooming and branching like crazy. The flowers have lasted over four months now, and she's still putting out more blossoms.
They are so beautiful 😍 I like the one peach color it is beautiful
Love that bronze maiden
What lovely show
i did a little research and the pink with orange lip looks like it could be a cross of lui's cute angel with Lui's golden coin or sogo golden.....I am loving that contrast!
I think I have a Phal Soft Cloud, the noID white hybrid my mother has in the living room fits your plant and the pics I saw online. Mine is definetly not a mini, but it is rather compact considering how monstruous the noIDs tend to get. I think its a very good hybrid for its kind, because it always produces many spikes that branch a bit, theres often so many flowers they cannot even open up properly. Also when I first got it, I observed it can sometimes produce a second flush of blooms from the same spikes so theres also that. Mine produced a basal keiki that grew fast and has a flower spike too now. Phal hygrochila was Hygrochilus parishii (1897), then Vandopsis parishii (1912), and recently moved to Phalaenopsis in 2015. I think theres a mistake in the text as Phal parishii was always the miniature species that belongs to the Parishinae subgenus :) Personally I never liked the Sedirea name because it is literally Aerides spelled backwards. When they realised there was no way japonica belonged to the Aerides genus, they didn't know where to place it and made a genus on the spot for it.
Thank you for this topic. It's like a virtual Christmas.., Pleae provide the update on the LED lamp that you opened in February.
2 of my BIG phals have a fragrance!!! I bought a yellow base color with tiny pink stripes it’s the one u said u didn’t have for $10!!!australian money!!!just because there were HUGE aphids on the flowers. I had it for about 3 weeks and is growing great!!
The phal @9:30 has flowers that look identical to the Phalaenopsis Chia E Yenlin, there is a more popular, variegated form, but I believe there is also a regular form, and it looks like you have it.
It wasn't me with noid name last time, but I am 100 % positive it is the exact same as mine. The name is Phal. Chia E. Yenlin '10-8'. It is one of my favorites as well. Make a tag....no procrastinating! : )
I like the grey background it allows more of the phal to pop off the background more in videos
9:14 is Phalaenopsis Chia E Yenlin
My Phal. 'Liu's Berry' has bud blast and I dont know why 😭 i have watering, light, and fertilizer just right. Maybe the temperature shift could do it (cause ive had some warm days, then very cold nights in my sunroom) but it's such a healthy orchid. I repotted it long before any buds developed, so it may not be shock cause it was months ago. What do you think could be the culprit?
Do you still have the variegated Sogo Vivien ? I've recently found them in Aldi (chain supermarket like Lidl)... the leaves look amazing ! They are sooo beautiful !
Dani, do you still have Phal. Easter Carnival? That one is my favorite, impossible to find here in the states.
Hello! What is the name of the last we saw, the orange one? It is beautiful!
Purple laced one is chia e yenlin :)
Chia E Yenlin has a variegated variety; those of you who live in the U.S. can purchase it at Norman's Orchids.
What can I do if the aereal roots of my phals keep drying out? It is a humidity problem related? I keep grinding them up with water but it is just useless :(
I have a question if you are soaking your orchids for 10 minutes in water and then you said not to leave water at the bottom because it can suffocate them dos that mean when you are soaking them they are suffocating ♥︎:)
I have a mini mark with buds just got it almost 2 weeks ago. It is in moss only, it has new root tips appearing could I repot it now
I wanted to thank you, because of this channel I have the most wonderful phals display. First time I was able to bloom my Soft Cloud to look like a cascading beauty. I saw in another video that you want to give away the Sogo Yukidin V3 x ...., please do not, keep it at least another year, to so many of us it looks amazing, and I believe once you get over the fact that it is not the one you wanted you will learn to love it too (of course we all hope we can get it in a giveaway, but I think you will change your mind).
16.20 time stamp is beautiful!
Dani I did not cut the spikes and they now make leaves instead of flowers at the top. How do I handle this.
I’m looking for a video you made on your favorites. I loved them but didn’t get them written down. 1 was the chocolate. Please someone help
Hi. My orchid is growing a new root and leaves about 3/4 up a stake that has beautiful flowers. I'm afraid that it will get heavy. Don't know what what to do? Please help.
Hi Dani, do you have Phal. Tzu Chiang Sapphire? I always dream to have this Phal, but in Feb local orchid show they only have seedlings so I did not purchase it. Now I’m still regretting since all orchid shows in March and April are cancelled and I may have to wait another year. The seedling is so cheap and give it a year it will be flowering size. What was I thinking!
I always seem to have trouble re blooming the minis...

Me too. My first mini is 6 years old no blooms. I don’t know what color it will be as I rescued it after the spike was dead. It has great roots and leaves though, I hope you have more success.

Interesting. Do they need a little something different from standard??
I love that one is my color purple
Alternative: adhere the wallpaper to a board that can be placed and removed as needed and you can have two different wallpapers [one on each side].
What is the name of your yellow orchid? I've been looking for one for three years!
Haw the pot water ?
Your orchids are beautiful! I I bought 2 phalaenopsis Last year and have followed proper care for them all year. They have each gotten to do leaves but no flowers! Very disappointing what am I doing wrong?

Prob nothing Paula likely just adapting to your environment. You can try putting them in a slightly cooler room for a month as this mimics their season in the wild .Not too cold but if you norm have it 22 try a 18. When you first notice a spike you can warm it back up again. If the plants heathy that's prob the biggest thing you can do to get flowers its how nurseries get all their plants spiking at the same thing. But if they miss a season and put out leaves and roots its not a bad thing as they have more energy when they do decide to flower.

All of mine bloomed but I fertilized them and put them under grow lights as well. It did take about 8 months so give it time. Keep caring for them they will grow.

Helen Simpson Thank you for your reply. They are in front of a north window with no obstructions outside. My house is 65° at night and 70°F during the day. Maybe those temperatures are just too cold for it? It seems to be healthy. One plant got a new leaf a few months after the flower spike was cut off and then about five months later he got another new leaf! The other plant has gotten one new leaf and also looks very healthy.
Hi just wanted to inform that the thrip video you have linked down below and mention in the video is private so can't see that one :(
I don't find an"Orchids Deluxe" in the Netherlands, but I do in Germany....
Oh dear. I need that sedirea x parishii! I saw one on eBay earlier, but that one was in the US. Also, you have a Discord server?
Have your plants ever been pollenated from being outside ? Just curious.

Hi, good question 😊 no never, I saw bees checking them out but they weren't very interested.
Coulp you please please tell me if bottled water is good for orchids.... My orchids keep getting salt burned from tap water and I didn't know it until I watched your videos 🥺

Dedalos The Great If you live in the USA, you can purchase a Zero water pitcher that uses a reverse osmosis type water filtration that last for 3 months. It has worked wonders for my orchids it gives no root burn the water comes out 100% pure plants stay healthy.
Is that an African violet? it is Beautiful you have a green thumb.
Me:AaAaaaaaAhhh!!!!!i cant go to school!!!!(i love school) Also mewhen i know M.O.G made a new vid:YAS!!!! I dont care about school i can stay home all day and watch the vid!!!!
The schilleriana is responsible for creating so many pink hybrids. I wouldn’t mind getting it but the orchid fair in my area is cancelled because of the covid19 or coronavirus. Curse you coronavirus! I can’t revive my long dead orchid obsession!
How do you know they are mini if they are not blooming and no label?
@MissOrchidGirl

Mostly context, if it's at the flower shop, it's a mini, if it's an orchid nursery leftover, you never know ☺️

Hey :) Is there anyway to contact you privately? I urgently need your help with my dying orchid :((((( It’s sick and will die soon but I have no where to take it at the moment :((((( I had to remove the media and some roots since it had mealy bugs... Since cutting the roots, disinfecting and repotting it, the leaves are now like leather and the roots have gone thin and yellow strawy :(((((( The blooms have fallen off and the new buds that I had before reporting it are starting to die already :((((
Looks like chia e yenlin variegata
Hi Danny, I located how you spell your name😁 Can you give us an update on your stunted Phalaenopsis Singolo please? I seem to have developed a real concern for her welfare, and how she is doing now xxx
Hi Dani, hope you are well. I was wondering if you could give me the link or website for the Orchids deluxe in Netherlands, please ? Or the complete ID of the novelty golden one ? I’ve got two suggestions for you amazing ones any email or WhatsApp that we can communicate? Thanks Webbs
i disagree with the term "novelty phal" because a lot of the crosses are pretty old, i just call them "polychilos hybrids" :)
How do you get so many flowers on one spike? I normally only have 5-6on one spike
So Danny do you have any give away Phalaenopsis?
I just bought a Schillmann (what it was originally registered as in 1930)/Bronze Maiden! It smells almost exactly like palmarosa essential oil, which smells similar to roses but more citrus-y. I love the lip on yours
