Phala Phala will HAUNT Ramaphosa and DA in the GNU | Dr Rekgotsofetse Chikane

Ойын-сауық

Dr Rekgotsofetse Chikane, a prominent South African academic and political commentator, analyzes ANC's Vulnerability concerning the party's reduced majority in Parliament. The podcast discusses the potential implications of the Phala Phala farmgate scandal on President Cyril Ramaphosa and the Democratic Alliance (DA) in the context of the GNU (Government of National Unity). The Freedom Front Plus (FF+) and the EFF want Parliament to revisit the Phala Phala Independent Panel report, which could further erode the president's standing and affect the GNU.

Dr Chikane is a very, very intellectually impressive young man. King Davido is correct about the branding of the "open border policy" was what stalled the growth of the EFF in part. But my idea isn't that the EFF shouldn't changed the core message of that policy. Their mistake, in my view, was using a very brash political leader who thrives more on populism and controversy than on comprehensive dialogue at a quasi-academic level. If you stand in front of a crowd and say things like "I urge all our foreign brothers and sisters to find creative ways to enter South Africa." and "If you want to chase away our foreign brothers and sisters then keep your votes. The EFF doesn't need them." Rather, a leader like Shivambu who approaches all of these hard issues from a level of organized, well articulated presentation with references always made to facts and figures, would've made a strong case for most South Africans to accept an open border policy. What the EFF had was a problem of arrogance vs. humility at a key moment when political parties were out to make a case for why voters should choose them and not their opposition. In the end, I also agree with Dr Chikane for complementing the EFF on taking a hard stance and refusing, regardless of any voter outcome, to abandon what they feel is their generational mission.

I don't understand why, you've received only one like with such a mature, well though statement,am one of those who dumbed the red berets because of their stupid foreign stance which is no benefit to us as when have more than enough problems, worse malema was arrogant in handling that statement, calling us lazy,I even suspected that maybe he's captured like Zuma by the Gupta's,by the time he tried to marinade his stance just before the election, it was too late,he really didn't read the room,so to speak, and even now he and his supporters refuse to acknowledge that that stupid stance is what cost them votes, unless he changes that stupid stance he's still gonna bleed voters

@marabunya I corrected you when you spewed this nonsense on another video and I will do so again. Malema is going nowhere. Malema is the EFF, there’s no EFF without Malema. Without Malema you wouldn’t even care about Floyd. And there’s a lot more to being a leader than responding to sensitive issues such as open borders in a way that doesn’t hurt your fragile feelings. Whether Malema or Floyd said it the message still would have been the same so your assessment is irrational. And Malema isn’t arrogant, he’s frank. South Africans like you simply have fragile emotions. Further, if the EFF was stalled because open borders how come PA didn’t get a lot more seats? They got what 2%? Despite all their abahambe they couldn’t even win a province. So I don’t buy the notion that open borders stalled the EFF. I believe a number of factors made this elections very challenging, especially the fact that voters were more than spoiled for choice. Additionally, the votes were clearly rigged. A good number of parties have complained about discrepancies.

@sabelonxosi7336 Agreeing with someone doesn’t make their statement “matured”. That’s an exaggeration. Malema does read the room, he just doesn’t care about your fragile feelings. South Africans like you are clearly confused. You don’t want a spineless no backbone leader such as Ramaphosa who lies to your face. But the moment a decisive firm leader like Malema speaks frankly to your face you call it arrogance and condemn him. He’s a leader of a party that he built from ground up, unfortunately he isn’t here to cater to your feelings. You claim the EFF won’t grow as long as that stance remains. Well even Floyd and Ndlozi reiterated that stance and it’s going nowhere. And the EFF will grow in 2029, just watch. Also the new EFF doesn’t care about its haters and doomsayers, now the EFF will focus on only those that support it. So you can keep your support to yourself. Meanwhile since you clearly didn’t vote for the EFF, enjoy your gnu/ apartheid 2.0 for the next 5 years.

People NEED to understand how our democracy works. They need to understand check and balances. They need to understand that one party does not have all answers. They need to stop being loyal to one party no-matter-what. Switch parties to show your disapproval.

IEC strategically opened one station closer to universities knowing very well that high number of student registered and that EFF won almost all the universities so common sense was that make it difficult for student to vote by making lines long to discourage them in high numbers. I think EFF has learnt and the ANC is it doesn't change in the next 2 years, 2029 will be its burial.

Our biggest problem is our lack of understanding and the disconnect through our different junctures and political transformation. First, we are trying to gang up on a silly wagon of hate, spite and regression. We pick and choose on what we perceive or sell to be our principled positions. 1. We carry along with us people who have a beleaguered past and our expedient reason is "the struggle and struggling...". 2. We just wantonly dispatch propaganda without limits - reserving only excusable reasons for those whom we worship. 3. We criminalise the innocent just to muddy waters for those caught with their hands in the cookie jar. 4. Last but not least, we succumb to the bullying by the few - organized in the form of mafioso. Most who parade as analysts/and speaking truth to power, are just waxing their chances of being adopted in a possible new order. How wrong they are, because intellect is not just the preserve of the few, but all who have love and dignity within. Salute, Mr President!

To answer the title, YES. ANC wasted 30 yrs. Even if they wasted 20yrs and trying to find themselves. The last ten, the black majority should have and deserve a better standard of living. At least, public utilities, eg, water, lights, transportation should be in order and efficient. Adding, education, as free as possible, literacy should be accomplished. Agriculture should be in place. Lastly, culture and sports. That way, black people have been given an opportunity to live better lives and provide for their children and families.

DA knows very well that Phalaphala issue is not over and that , is exactly what FORCED Mr Phalaphala to humble himself to beg DA Steenhuisen to PROTECT him against the EFF , ATM and UDM and other small parties. He forgot that DA could protect him to a certain extend, but not when LAW prevails and takes its place in terms of Phalaphala. Even Zondo cant erase the money stuffed under the mattress and sofas. The man has to face the music on his own. Chief Justice Maya is also coming, better than the puppet Chief. We suppose she will be OBJECTIVE than a SUBJECTIVE Zondo regarding Ramadollars' Phalaphala.
