Here is the second animatic I made for Project God.
Some backstory:
Yes, "second" animatic. The first animatic was made for my storyboarding class and was based on the entire script which we were provided by our instructor. I had no idea that I would be using this storyboard for my eventual thesis project at the time. The entire script a little over 4mins long, and is essentially two characters having a conversation in a reading room.
I needed to cut the duration by at least 2mins, as it would be unrealistic to attempt all of the layouts, backgrounds, dialogue, rough, tiedown, and final animation PLUS compositing everything together in the time allotted. I mean, I'm just one person, so... I decided to turn it into a trailer.
The challenge was very real. I ended up trying to come up with whatever I could that followed what was in the script but I needed it to be more cinematic than two guys talking by a fireplace, so this is what I ended up with! A VERY rough, hastily-made animatic. You can see how some of the scenes survived for the most part, while others were changed completely, when you watch the rough animation clips.
So there you have it! Some insight into where and how this thing began.
Oh, I do still have that full-length animatic. Maybe I'll upload it one of these days?
