180 DEGREE STUDY (from 2022)

Here is one of the very first storyboard/animatic assignments I had back in 2022. We were given a basic premise and short script as follows:
***EXT/DAY/ Apartment Building Façade
The door opens, and out comes John, a graphic artist. His company just promoted
him, but he’s lonely and feels so alone, because just a a month ago, his girlfriend
of three years, broke up with him.
(Create a sense of emptiness to imply John’s loneliness within)
He walks with head bowed, to the bus stop to get his ride to work. John continued
to walk with his head bowed, as if looking for something. But in reality, he’s just
avoiding to interact with people.
He looks at his watch to see if he’s already late; but at the exact time that he
looks down, he sees a pair of sneakered feet blocking his path.
John raised his head to see who it is, and was surprised to see his ex-girlfriend,
Lorraine, standing in front of him and smiling sweetly.
“Hello John, how are you?, said his ex.
“I’m fine, Lorraine, and thank you for asking”, he replied.
Lorraine: “I missed you.”, she paused, then continued,” I bet you didn’t miss me.”
“The truth is…I missed you too. A lot.” John replied. “ I wish we didn’t end up this
way.”
Lorraine smiled, the sweetest smile, and said: ”Crazy, right.?”
“You know what, “she continued; “why don’t we have coffee together and sort
this out?”
John smiled, and said: “Why not, it’s still too early for work anyway. Let’s go!”
Lorraine: (Happily.)”Well, I know this place where…” voice trail as they move
away.
Crane Shot: Camera moves up as the two lovebirds walk along, holding each
other’s hand, away from the camera.
END.****
I had just started my storyboarding class maaaaybe a month prior to making this. I was not only inexperienced at storyboarding, but I was also new to the software and was scrambling to figure out the very basics of everything. I obviously took some artistic licensing and added some silly stuff to it. I can't help it! Fortunately my instructor laughed.😅
I think that it is important to look back on old work for many reasons, so I wanted to share this little bit of my history with you.
I hope you're having a great week so far!
As always... stay tuned!
