Thank you so much Glenn, for fixing my sewing machine. I am so happy with a job very well done. My sewing machine purrrrs like a kitty and runs with no problem of the thread tension above and below. Great job Glenn!

Thank you. I was able to take apart a used Pfaff same model and fix 3 things because you showed me how to take it apart. I fixed the needle threader. It was frozen because it was filled with rust. Took me forever to get the part of and then all the rust. The pressure foot wouldn't go up and down. Again needed lubrication and had some gunk on it. The tension was messed up. Changing the batteries helped. Had no idea the machine had them and now the light by works. Now I just need to print the manual. Somebody must have left this in a garage or something. I bought it at a resale shop. Thank you! Now I can give to my friend to cheer her up.

My PFAFF Hobby 4240 sewing machine was jammed so I opened it up and unscrewed a screw that I shouldn't and the pieces between which the thread passes through, that gives pressure on the thread came apart and I have no idea the order those pieces where in before they fell off the machine. Is there a way (image) to see what it looked like before it came apart? I can reassemble it if I see the order in which they are installed. Thank-you. You seem to be so at ease with machines.

I have a Performance 2058 working just fine. It was made in Czech. I got it when it was new but can't remember just how long ago that was. 10, 12 years? Something like that? Is there any way I can tell from looking at where my serial number is when it was manufactured? It doesn't have a number on the top left of that area like this one does. If you could let me know how to tell I'd be so grateful! I'd also love to know how many hours of sewing it's done but the manual doesn't tell me how to find out. I've sent my dealer (who I bought it off) an email twice asking them about both things but they don't answer those questions. They do answer, though, when I ask about buying another more modern machine! I'm in New Zealand, by the way - but you seem friendly and know your stuff so I thought you might be able to help me . :-D Kind regards... Megan

Fascinating to watch! I have a Pfaff creative 1473 and 1475 do you happen to know when they switched over their motor size to the larger size? I’m hoping it’s pre 1473! So far I’ve only had my 1473 in the shop for repairs once (other than tunes ups) and it was due to some horrible stretch fabric throwing the timing off that got sucked into my bobbin. I’ve had it since 93. My 1475 has a sticky presser foot now and then but guessing it’s tune up time. Wish it were easier to clean the inside of the machines! They make it easy to clean the bobbin area but can’t clean the upper casing. Great machines though and have heard they don’t make parts for my 1473/5 either any more but good to know there maybe hope that you stocked up! I’ve used many machines over the years and my Pffafs are still the best.

It depends on if it is looping on the top or bottom. Usually stitch issues are caused by a dry hook. Give it a drop of oil and see if that helps.

Hi, so I fixed some things on my machine but noticed when I went to use the program stitches that some of the buttons don't seem to work. If you want me to send you a video, let me know. In hope there is still hope. I got it sewing and some of program buttons work on right but the stitch count jumps around. Needle down and tie of work work on left.

i slowly took apart the area by the program button, and made sure all the connection plugs were tight. I used an air can to blow out dust. Closed it back up. It still acts the same. When I press the first + button it skips stitches by 10s, and if i try pushing the + button to make it increase count by 1....say from 10 to 11, it does nothing. If I go back to the first button on left and press the - button under program, it show the stitch patterns backwards by 10s. Again the count button to the right of that does nothing. It looks like the last row of buttons like repeat and pattern start do not light up when i press them. It looks really good inside. Do you think this board is bad? If so, how much would the part cost? I think I can do it if it's the part and not to pricey. Thanks Glen, hope you can give advice. I'm trying to fix this for my good friend and feel like i'm so close. I'm in Gurnee, Illinois.

Hello Glenn, hopefully you can help. I inherited my grandmother's estate and she has a NEW, still in the original box, Pfaff 1471. It has all the original manual, accessories, etc. In fact, the original Panasonic AA batteries are in their package, albeit a bit corroded. Never installed. In fact, it was never used and has the original test swatch under the foot. Here's my dilemma...my wife loves her Singer so we don't want to keep the Pfaff. I installed two new batteries and turned it on for the first time. The motor is getting power, but it won't turn and activate the presser foot. I didn't force it. But I can turn the balance wheel but it shows some drag resistance, like the belt is not advancing the presser foot. I've stopped doing anything else. Any ideas on what's going on and how I can move forward to get it ready to sell? Perhaps you are even interested. Thanks! -Johnny
