I remember Brady saying when he was out from hurting his shoulder, Peyton called him up and told him that he had the exact same injury and shared everything that worked and what didn't work to heal the injury. That was during the height of their rivalry too. What a classy guy!!

Two great men with military style dedication to whatever they are doing. Troy talking to Peyton about his dad Archie Manning, being such an influence has to be slightly tough for Troy being that I'm not sure his dad even went to a game. Troy's dad was a tough as nails dude, and I had read quite a bit of stuff back when he was playing, it's not from Troy's "A Football Life". I lived in Plano, outside of Dallas from 1975-1978, started both baseball and pop warner during our bicentennial yr and was greatly influence in sports by my friends older bro, 5 yrs older than me, and his name was Troy so I named my son now ten after that Troy and Aikman.

I read in one book (Jeff Pearlman’s on the 90’s Cowboys, I think) that part of the reason Troy stood in the pocket and took as many hits as he did is because, on some level, he was trying to prove to his dad how tough he really was.

@@andrew5184 That makes sense, and I'm sure he's come to grips with it, but even when he was at as high of level in the NFL as you can be I don't think his dad really ever praised him. My dad was a stud athlete but didn't praise, and his dad barely said two words to him. In the German culture, at least back in the day, the man earned the dough and the mom was there for the coddling and praising, if there was any.

As a TN Vols fan saying im a fan of Peyton is a given even though Al Wilson #27 was my favorite. Lord knows he wasnt lacking in support in ktown so peytons senior year i got an al wilson jersey. I got a white 16 the year prior. I still have both. It's great the many accomplishments he has achieved but i think the best part about him is not so much the play on the field but off the field. He truely is a great role model and representative of TN. You make us proud #16! My all time greatest live memory in person TN KY vs Tim Couch. These two guys i bet had 7 or 800 yds of offense combined. Awesome game if you loved qb play and to watch peyton direct rocky top what a memory. I somehow bought tickets from someone outside the stadium that was in the front row right beside the band. My then wife got to pet smokey a couple of times because he was directly below us. I wouldnt swear to it but i do believe it was the last game he played in Neyland. One of the best days ever and for sure the best live sports event. Thanks Peyton

Very thoughts 1. These great athletes interviewing other great athletes is a very good idea if you ask interesting, not softball questions, and if the host/guest exchange stories. Unfortunately Aikman did not pull it off. JJ Redick does a great job in his basketball interviews. 2. Payton has a great personality and a super large forehead. Aikman was the best looking quarterback of all time, now his head looks like the Thing, with that stone like face. 3. I always get touched by an adult love for their father. However do you have to be a rich, famous and success father to obtain your child's love? It seems you do in many but not all cases.

First of all, this is not a debate, this is my opinion on who I think the best pure passer I’ve ever seen in my lifetime is. Secondly, what would be the criteria for great pure passer? Completion percentage or accuracy of course. Did u know that Dan Marino, in his 16 seasons in the nfl, had 3 seasons where he threw higher than 60%? Did u know he had 8 seasons where his completion percentage wasn’t higher 60%(85-93) Marino has the same completion percentage as Cam Newton. Manning has 12 seasons where he his completion percentage was 65% or better. As I said previously, 3 step 5 step drop guy’s open, hit em, Manning is the best I HAVE(which would mean me in my opinion) seen. @@umdmustang9254 Nope. Peyton Manning is still better. Brady had the luxary of having the best HC in NFL history in addition to his defense winning most of his super bowls. If Manning played for the patriots, and Brady played for the Colts, then Brady would've been an average QB at best. Manning proved he could take his style of play and be successful under another team. When Brady got injured or suspended, his back up QBs still have a great winning record (11-5 in 2008 which is the same record Brady had in his first year). When Garapolo took over for Brady, he went 3-1. If you're going to ask "Since Brady went 16-0, why couldn't the patriots repeat the same record the the following year?", my response is "Why couldn't he go 16-0 again with practically the same team when he got back from his injury?". Let's be honest, can you actuality see Brady being as successful if he was on any other team? The answer is no.

S P Tom Brady is far superior than Peyton Manning. He went one and done 9 times, 6 of those 9 times he had top 10 defenses. He’s always had much better weapons around him too. Brady is obviously better since the only argument you can make is using hypotheticals like putting him on the Patriots. GOATs don’t go 14-13 in the playoffs with 9 one and done’s. He’s the biggest choker in professional sports history.

@@umdmustang9254 So if you think a GOAT means choking to the measly Giants after going undefeated in the playoffs, or relying on your defense to win your superbowls (Rams, Seattle, Philly, Atlanta), then that's on you. The patriots happened to just have the best GM/HC combo of all time. Just imagine if the most accurate QB of all time (Brees) played for the patriots. They would have the #1 Offense year after year and no one would be able to stop them. Joe Montana is a QB who proved to be successful under different coaches, and he never choked in the big game. Peyton Manning carried his trash teams all those years (2011 is the perfect example of what happens when he didn't play). If you want to judge players based on championships, then I guess Will Purdue is better than LeBron James, and David Tyree is better than Randy Moss.
