PEYOTE STITCH DESIGN TUTORIAL PART 1

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Hello Everyone! Welcome back to my channel! This video will be PART 1 of 3 Videos on how I come up with color combos. I'm also doing a bead for bead tutorial on one of my most sought after designs. This first part will cover a lot of what you'll need to know. Here's a supply list of what you'll need to join me on this tutorial! LET'S BEAD!
I'm using blank hoops I purchased at Wal-mart. You need the right thickness in order to get 7 beads around.
The hoops are 1.5 Inches wide (across).
Size 11 Delica beads. (Check out the Delica Bead Shop Co.)
Size 10, 11 or 12 beading needle. (Check out the Delica Bead Shop Co.)
Hand quilting thread. (I buy it from Wal-mart)
Wax or thread conditioner. (I buy wax from HalfordsMailOrder)
I do not have a drawn out template for this design. But, feel free to draw one out for yourself if you like. I haven't drawn out any of my designs nor have I copied from any other bead artist. I take the time to see the designs in my head and suffer through a lot of trial and error.
Thank you for watching!

I love your videos! I’ve learned a lot. Thanks, but I do have a question how do keep the beads from twisting? I’ve made a couple pairs of peyote stitch hoops it keeps twisting on me, how do I prevent that?? I’m talking about the columns.

Thank you 🤗 I bead 1 quarter down (or halfway depending on how big the hoops are) then I put little dabs of nail glue at the beginning of my beadwork. I make sure I place the beadwork where I like it to sit before I dab it with nail glue. And when I complete the hoop I dab it again. Only on the ends though. Nail glue or super glue isn't really good for these little projects with thread. It's mainly to fuse the beads to the hoop but, I can't control where glue goes.

I ended up finding 4 pairs of stainless steel hoops on Amazon for $10. But they are about 2.5”. You used 3 beads in your design for a hoop that is 1.5”. How could I do the same type of design for the 2.5” hoop? Use 4-5 beads in a column or add another color?any suggestions

  • @MelissaChilcotinChar

    @MelissaChilcotinChar

    3 жыл бұрын

I would do 4 beads in the columns and choose up to 7 colors to blend or you could stick with 4 colors that contrast and alternate how you feel. Just make sure you find your center and mirror the opposite side 😊 I have pictures of 2.5 inch hoops on my IG: @chilcotincreecustom and on my FB page: Beauty and Beadwork By Melissa.

  • @MelissaChilcotinChar

I think 1.5 Hoops take a couple hours to bead. I've never timed my hoops. Just the lanyards. Because I'll time how long it takes to bead an Inch and then I will multiply that time by how many Inches I've beaded.

Nice tutorial. However, when doing peyote in the round, you have to step up at the end of each round. To step up, you go through the last bead on the row you're sewing into and the the first bead of the current row. You might try Fireline or Wildfire beading thread.

The Delica Bead Shop is a main suggested because I haven't had any issues with them and they have quite the selection when it comes to beads AND supplies. They are located in the US. Another place that you can order from is Beaded Edge or Shipwreck Beads if you are located in the US.
