PEW PEW! AKC F-16 OTF Automatic Knife Review. A fun cheapish switchblade.

The AKC F-16 is a under $50 budget switchblade. that's fun to use and fidget with. This OTF automatic, is a dual action. Just press forward to open, and pull backward to close the knife- like the lord intended. It satisfies the pew pew in all of us. The cheap fidget knife is similar to the Lightning OTF. Also seen in this video: Kershaw Cryo 2, Ganzo G736, and the Benchmade FACT. Also I talk about how cool the Hawk Deadlock is.

To be honest I don't baton 12" logs with my tactical skull decal pocket knife as much as I'd like to. Yep... it’s just a glued on strip! In theory you could just replace it with something else. It’s a decent little knife... and really you don’t get much out of it over an expensive OTF. I have a Benchmade Pagan... and while it’s just a sleeker hand feel and a bit smoother action... you know- I don’t know it’s worth 6 times the price.

I've got a few knives pushing the 100 dollar mark, but I'm happy with a $20 ganzo which is decent quality, and if it gets lost or fucked up I'm not out of a paycheck. Funny thing is, the most expensive knives are the ones I most rarely use, tend to kind of baby them.

Dagger blade vs bayonet blade? Both are better than a single edge imo if you're going the otf route but is there any point to go bayonet and have one side only have sharpened when you can just get the dagger? Is it more durable or is it only an aesthetic preference to some?

I've always liked the look of those OTF knives but I'm pretty sure this one is illegal as a category 1 weapon in my country (entirely illegal to own, can't even have it in a collection on private property). But that's probably a good thing for my bank account, I've got enough knives as it is and these honestly really aren't that practical other than being a potentially dangerous thing to fidget around with when intoxicated. I'd have to read the specifics of our laws again but almost certain it has at least two properties putting it in category 1: - the knife blade jumps out through the front (spring assisted or just by gravity, both types not allowed) - double edge (I think this might be okay in fixed blades, but the law is most definitely not okay with it on folders)

But the Smith n wessun yes you have to pull back but the blade is solid. Used for cutting. Ny those are illegal. I out doubkecedkeds only on spines when you close they dont stick out which makes it illegal. Good video. I got my ceramic bearing 19025 cents knife that will do its job in self defense comes out quicker than assisted and they cost more.

The funny thing about autos is that they are actually slow to deploy in a self defense situation because you pull out the pocket and lost 1 extra second hunting for the button. The fastest methods for folding knives are the wave and 2 hand opening and inertia opening in case you dont like waveable knives. You can test all that for yourself.

What do you prefer, the f-16 or lightning? I was looking at the exact same f-16 and wound up buying the lightning. I’m thinking of getting the f-16 because it seems a lot less bulky and I like the extra finger guard on the bottom.

I think I liked the f16 more- only slightly though because it was a little more compact... that is if I’m remembering correctly- been a while since I’ve had the lighting

Was there any less or any more blade play between the 2? The videos I’ve seen comparing both knives don’t mention blade play at all. I’m sure I could use a bit of solder and a hand file to tighten up the tolerances on the blade to fix excessive play in the lightning (I did this for a buddy of mine that had an extremely wobbly lightning), but if the f-16 is a better and more sturdy design, I would like to just go ahead and purchase one to not have to go and do all of that lol

Seemed similar to me.... I also have a benchmade Pagan which is also similar in blade play... and how it fires... but a sleeker package. I’ve never handled an OTF without blade play. There is a bladehq video that does a huge comparison between different levels of autos... that seems like a very accurate representation of autos to me- at least from the few I’ve used.

Advanced Knife Bro my lighting has less blade play than the infidel I used to have. I like the size of the akc over the lightning though. Would you prefer the bayonet style blade or the dagger style? I’m torn

I wish Ganzo still made those autos. They seem pretty nice for 20 some bucks. Really missed the boat on that. I think I'll skip one of these and just spring for Vipertec; no pun intended. Thanks for the review mate.

I like this knife. For $50 you get a pretty decent OTF that isn't from China. You could probably stab a car hood with this and it would still be functional. Good upload!

I dunno, I feel both are close in quality. If you own several lightnings try out one AKC

Being the degenerate that i am, and having experienced the legality of switchblades, i was laughing my dick off every time you mentioned the legality of OTFs.. p.s I can personally attest to the fact that most departments have a box full of "goodies" and i even knew of quite a few guys who carried confiscated switchblades and such *ON DUTY*....tax collection at its finest... shame.. :/

@@AdvancedKnifeBro man I've fallen off the KZread bandwagon as of late. I'll have to go through and get caught up. I just saw someone on the knife gods group post a video of the natrix....I'm intrigued! I've been kind if leaning away from folders lately as well. Just set up a trade for manix 2. Getting a bark river jx something lol the one that looks like a karambit

I have a MT,Benchmade but I love my F16 and lightning the best because just as the man said it’s a plaything. I would never unless I had nothing else fight with any Otf. Just a old Marines opinion.
