아비뇽에서 차로 30분 정도 거리의 ‘릴 쉬르 라 소르그’는 ‘프로방스의 베네치아’ (Venise provençale)라고도 불리는 마을로 ‘소르그’ 강에 섬마을 이란 뜻이다. 마을을 가로지르는 강 주변으로 가까운 ‘퐁텐 드 보클뤼즈’ (Fontaine-de-Vaucluse) 샘에서 발원한 맑은 물이 마을을 휘돌아 흐르는 ‘소르그’ 강 주변으로 카페와 상점들이 들어선 모습이 한가롭다. 염색업과 직물제조 산업에 동력을 제공하던 오래된 물레방아가 이끼로 뒤덮인 모습으로 조용히 돌아가는 모습은 타임머신을 타고 중세로 날아온 듯….
300개의 앤틱샵이 주말에도 항상 문을 여는 ‘릴-쉬르-라-소르그’(L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue)는 프랑스제 골동품 애호가들에게 천국이다. 1960년대부터 골동품 시장이 특화되어 현재는 ‘런던’과 파리의 ‘생투앙’(Saint-Ouen)에 이어 유럽에서 3대 엔틱 시장으로 유명하다.
연중 네 번의 주요 벼룩시장이 열리는데, 전 세계에서 앤틱 애호가들이 몰려온다. ‘부활절’(Pâques), ‘오순절’(Pentecôte), 성모승천 대축일 ‘8월 15일’(Assomption), 모든 성인의 날 ‘뚜생’(Toussaint)에는 이 마을을 방문하지 마시길 !!!!
목요일과 일요일에는 지역특산품과, 치즈, 빵, 올리브, 생활용품 등을 판매하는 오전 시장이 06-14시 사이에 열린다. 매년 8월 첫번째 일요일에는 특이하게도 ‘소르그’ 강 위에서 시장이 열리는데, 베트남이나 베네치아의 수상시장을 상상하면 될 듯….
