This is a video tutorial how to adjust the valve clearance at the 1.4 l TU3 JP engine of Peugeot / Citroen. This engine have been used in a wide varity of Peugeot model starting from the 106, 206, 306, 307 and 406. And in the Citroen Berlingo, C2 and C3, Nemo. Adjusting the valve clearance is part of the regular service.

    Как то он весело снял и поставил клапанную крышку.Снять у меня не получилось пока не открутил проушину рядом со щупом.А вот поставить удалось только при снятой катушки зажигания. А за ролик спасибо.

    Maybe you can check if there is an DIY car repair shop around where you live. There maybe you can meet people who can give you the final confidence if your repair job is done right. For example it's nice to have a more experienced person next to you to say "this is how the feeler gauge should feel like for a valve correctly set". But don't sacrifice doing your own homework first. Using this great content from Jürgen. But also Haynes and PSA Servicebox.

    Hi, do you know the valve clearances for an Audi A4 ALZ 1.6 engine? I've seen that on Honda Civic 1.6 engine the clearances are 0.2 and 0.25 mm, shouldn't these clearances be the same for the Peugeot?

    Great video but I should point out that the French number the cylinders from the flywheel (gearbox) end of the engine & not like the rest of the known world that number from the crankshaft pulley end.

    So as long as we start with the crank wheel hole at North position we can start the valve adjustment and then adjust 90degrees then continue to adjust

    Hi, it must not be exactly on maximum open position, we don't adjust the timing of the engine. It must be only near. You crank the engine and observe the valve. You see it going down, in the moment it has the tendency to go up again, the position is fine for this job. Greetings, Jürgen

    servus :) sehr schönes video und gut erklärt. wundert mich allerdings warum das ventil spiel kleiner geworden ist... normal wirds doch grösser mit zunehmender alterung des motors oder irre ich mich da? machts was aus wenn man die kontermutter nicht mit dem drehmoment sondern mit gefühl handfest anzieht?

    +Rowen Hallo Rowen, das total verstellte Ventilspiel bei diesem Motor resultiert nicht aus dem normalen Verschleiß, die ganze Mimik war für den Wechsel der Zylinderkopfdichtung ausgebaut. Da die Einstellung des Ventilspiels aber such ein Servicepunkt ist, haben wir das Video von dem anderen Video getrennt. Zu dem Drehmoment nur so viel. Wenn in den Anleitungen eines angegeben wird und ich mit dem Schlüssel beikomme, nehme ich ihn auch. Natürlich geht es auch ohne. Viele Grüße, Jürgen

    Hello, at 2:34 I think there is a mistake with the English subtitles, it should be: When the exhaust valve of cylinder 1 is fully open, it is possible to measure the clearance at the exhaust valve of cylinder 4. The text says 1, but it should be 4.

Also part of this new acquisition the branches of the Freudenberg Group: Burgmann Automotive GmbH, Germany, Freudenberg-MEILLOR SAS in France and Oigra MEILLOR S.R.L, based in Italy. The MEILLOR gasket is the original Peugeot.

    @irina25661 Ich habe den gleichen Motor in einen Citroen C3 Pluriel. Der Wagen hat im Leerlauf Drehzahlsachwankungen 50-80 Umdrehungen. Habe bereits alles ausgetauscht: Kupplungssatz, Einspritzventile, Zündkerzen, Zündspule, Ölwechsel, Drosselklappe, alle Dichtungen am Ansaugkrümmer. Citroen sagt das ist normal bei dem Motor! Ich hatte davor den TU3 1.1 und der lief ohne Schwankungen. Hast du vielleicht ein Tipp?Oder ist das wirklich normal bei dem Motor?

    Eine Kleinigkeit noch - den Motor kann man auch bei eingelegtem (5.) Gang am rechten Vorderrad durchdrehen (nur dort aufbocken wg Differential). Dann muß man Rad und Innenkotflügel nicht ausbauen. Wenn ich mich recht entsinne, muß man das Rad dann rückwärts drehen, damit die KW sich vorwärts dreht.

    Hallo, der Innenkotflügel wird nicht wegen des Durchdrehens ausgebaut, sondern weil der Zahnriemen ausgebaut und neu gespannt werden muss. Viele Grüße, Jürgen

    Valve cover torque should be 7 Nm or 8 Nm, not 5 Nm. Am I wrong? Where did you get that 5 value?

    Correct me if im wrong, but the sparkplugs on the TU3jp engine come in from the back at an angle. They don't interfere with the valves or valvecover in any way

    Hallo, wie oft stellt man denn Ventile nach an diesem Motor? Ich habe warscheinlich den selben im Peugeot 207 1.4 73 PS und ich finde ein wenig klackern die schon nach 6 Jahren und 19tkm *lach* Kurzstrecken kfz

    Hi! Du ziehst die Hutmuttern für den Ventildeckel mit 5Nm an, wenn ich das richtig verstanden habe. Ich habe nen Citroen Xsara mit dem gleichen Motor, aber im HAYNES ist dieses Anzugsdrehmoment mit 16Nm angegeben. Was ist denn nun richtig?

    +bristlecone455 Hallo, die 5 Nm stammen aus dem Buch von Etzold. Es wäre aber nicht der erste Fehler in diesem Buch. Wenn ich mich richtig erinnere, ist das Gewinde M6, was ein Anzugsmoment von 10 Nm bedeuten würde. Ich vermute mal, dass die Wahrheit in der Mitte liegt. Viele Grüße, Jürgen

    +irina25661 Vielen Dank für die schnelle Antwort. Ich habe die Schrauben trotzdem mal mit den 16Nm angezogen, was sich, naja... schon recht gefährlich anfühlt. Aber der Drehmomentschlüssel knackt dann genau in dem Moment, wo die Abdeckung auch auf die Abstandhalter aufsetzt. Die fette Gummiwulstdichtung braucht anscheinend ziemlich Anpressdruck...

    Hallo, sollte ab Bj 1994 auf jeden Fall passen. Davor haben wir andere Kennbuchstaben, was aber nicht unbedingt bedeutet, dass die Ventile anders sind. Die hauptsächliche Änderung war an der Einspritzung, Mache einfach den Deckel runter und Du siehst, ob das Video passt. Viele Grüße, Jürgen

    ja, der 1360 cc Motor in meinem ZX Break entspricht dem Motor in dem Video. Vielen Dank für dieses Tutorial. Frage zu dem Motor bitte: wenn der zu "fett" läuft (11,5l/100km) gibt es eine Schraube an der man die Benzinrationierung einstellen kann?

    +Abdallah Hadia Hallo. wahrscheinlich ist der Thermoschalter am Kühler kaputt. Ziehe mal den Stecker ab, wenn der Lüfter dann ausgeht, ist es mit Sicherheit der Thermoschalter. Viele Grüße, Jürgen

    Any leaks around seals? If they removed old seals the new ones may be not seated very well. It could be a lot of thing. You could try and clean the engine, especially the oil pan. Park your car on a paved parking place and check it after a few days.

    Hallo, im Prinzip ist die Einstellreihenfolge bei allen 4-Zylindern mit Zündreihenfolge 1342 gleich. Die EInstellwerte variieren und natürlich die Methode. Die Zählung der Zylinder ist bei deutschen Motoren anders. All dies spielt aber nur eine untergeordnete Rolle, Du stellst halt immer das Ventil ein, dass gerade frei ist. Du kannst ja mal mit dem Video zum Golf vergleichen. Bei manchen Motoren wird auch mit Plättchen eingestellt. dann brauchst Du eine entsprechende Sammlung von Scheibchen. Viele Grüße, Jürgen

    The two Cap Nuts of valve cover should be set at 8 Nm not 5 Nm...info from Autodata. Anyway Nice Work Indeed Overall

    Hi, do you have e reference for the 8 Nm? I just checked my source (Etzold Peugeot 206) again, there is standing 5 Nm. I think the thread is M6 thus 8 Nm should be possible. Greetings, Jürgen

    Hey, Wie heißt das Werkzeug von ks Tools bei Minute 4:24 zum Kontern? Ich habe den Wechsel der ZKD vorgenommen und auch die Ventile eingestellt. Leider kommt sporadisch beim fahren, ein lauteres klackern.. Vermutlich die Ventile.. MfG
