Somehow they managed to make the interior of a budget mid-size sedan that looks like it's a super car or something like that. Well done Peugeot. The designer definitely deserves a raise.

I've Red Leather in my First Edition but don't understand why the blue lights along the cash are not in the vehicle when its meant to be the flagship model.??
Why compare this 508 with the M340i? Should be compared to a 330e.

9:40 I recently had a BMW Dealer explain to me the reason you have to press a button to open the fuel tank on PHEVs. When your car/fuel tank gets hot some of the petrol becomes a gas. In normal cars when starting the engine that gas is safely burned, but PHEVs can drive without the engine running. Therefor they have a pressurised fuel tank. It is on all PHEVs and when you get a normal petrol/diesel 508 it will not have that button.

Chris Hart just buy used ones. Got myself an octavia from 2003 with 148bhp and lpg for 2 grands. Had just one breakdown and the fix was 15 euros.

Chris Hart I got a Ford Focus 02 plate for £500. Full service history, had it 4 weeks no issues and 1.5k miles done already loving it! No touch screen is so good

@@erikaepler8597 the modeo was a used one its 9 years old now. Was cheap as chips when I got runs perfect so far fingers crossed.
The designers of these newer 508s really deserve credit, they look top notch especially the saloons

Shame Peugeot have cut corners on paint as many powers in our club have incurred frontal stone chips damages amounting to 4K worth of damages. I can send proof of this if you message me.
Haven't seen Mat so excited in a while and truth be told Peugeot it's always a mile ahead at exterior styling and interior

Thanks for this review. I'm french so I obviously can't be 100% objective but I do find in terms of look it's the best SW available on the market today. Everything is not premium, for sure. However I find this is a very good compromise between "cheap" brands and premium/german cars. Its price does also fit with this assessment. Cheers from France

You do not need to be French to admit that right now, the French firms are on fire. Peugeot and Renault are making some of the nicest cars out there. It was hightime after 2 decades of mostly ugly ducklings. That mid-2000s Peugeot 308 was h o r r i f i c !!!! LOL!
This car is bloody gorgeous. And the interior looks beautiful

Those wheels are the perfect size. Ita really nice not stressing about hard ride and constant flat tyres whenever the road is anything other than smooth

Same thing on my Skoda Superb iV. Fuel cap can only be opened by button because vapours build up when you only refuel every now and then.

My father has the Peugeot 508 GTline SW and we absolutely love it. It's as you said very sporty but unfortunately, our exhaust tips are fake because we have a 2020 model. But I would say it is an incredible car
You know the car is impressive, when Matt is impressed about a car.

@@scottmurray8483 or it maybe a difference of opinion...that window line gives a really stretched out appearance.. I find that appealing... And it has been quite neatly done.... About the wheels ..sure they look like Peugeot didn't make much of an effort but they are not bad at all..... And getting something that suites it better may not be that hard to fine either .... Again it's an estate car and they don't go down well with people who are used to seeing one... In my country however these are extremely rare and may be considered exotic.... this will for sure standout if someone buys one here

I absolutely LOVE Peugeot’s interior
That car is stunning, the interior is just gorgeous. They've stepped up their game for real since I drove the 407 back in early 2000s. I'd take the diesel if I have to pay extra for usable charging speeds in such small battery pack.
They need to make a “fast” version of this car

@@antoniosic6912 yes it is also 508 pse will be very watch by Peugeot, if selling are very good they will launch 508 sw pse, but also the 3008 pse and a full electric 208 pse, 3008 will be hybrid with the 360bhp. New 308 is coming next year. 308 had that Gti badge and one of the best chassis of the segment. 308 too could have a pse brand with an hybrid technology. Inspired by the 308 r hybrid show car which has 500bhp. About Ds, the premium luxury brand, ds7 crossback has already an hybrid version 4x4 300bhp and the new sedan ds9 is available with the hybrid 225 300 and 360 bhp, which for France its good ( thanks to the government). 😁😁😁😁🙂

Cruise control is in the same place on all Peugeot’s and works perfectly. Just lower a finger to activate it. Too many people want to look at controls to use them thus not look at the road. But I prefer the 3008/5008 interior with the raised touchscreen as you can still see the road but, you never point out on any Peugeot icockpit review that the sat nav can also be displayed in the centre of the dash between rev counter and speedo. Makes it really easy to use while looking ahead.

I was looking at this as my next upgrade as currently drive the 3008 GT line which I purchased after your review but would go for 508 SW GT. Been waiting for your review of this for ages but gutted you didn’t do the review using the GT model as it looks much better and sportier.

I'd put frameless windows in the 5 annoying things. I agree they look cool but try opening that door when it's all iced up. The door doesn't open and you're buggered. Unless it comes with preconditioning to melt the ice before you get in the car.

To get that you'd have to charge it at home every night and drive it electric-only to work every day and charge it at work, too and then use the petrol engine for a short weekend trip maybe.

PSA owns Faurecia (or a part) who makes the german premium interior. It explains the game.
In many PSA cars you have to reach under the rear bench, jerk it towards the front and put it in the upright position and then you can fold the rear seats nearly completely flat

There are a lot of station wagon models in Europe (like my BMW 540i touring), which are not offered in the US. Is it a marketing mistake, of are you only ohne in million who likes wagons?

There are only a few to choose from: Mercedes E Class, Audi A4/A6 allroad models, S6 Avant, Subaru Outback (not really a wagon) and Volve V60/V90 Cross Country. There might be 1-2 others. Yes, Europe has a great selection, but SUV's are starting to take over in Europe too. Enjoy your 5 Series!

Does anyone else think Mat is so heavy handed and clumsy when touching stuff it drives me mad.
Ive been in 508 2014 and 308 2016, super cars, comfortable, especially for longer rides and they are quite economic, tje seats are from memory foam, and the are great to drive, aboit the design its a great great car
Phev vehicles tend to have special fuel tank as petrol can go "off" and most people would try to use electric to go around in towns so a petrol can last long time. Btw, 330e operates the same- you can open the charger cap when the doors are unlocked but fuel cap you need to press on the button under the steering wheel to release it

9:29 - that's normal in most PHEVs. I have a Volvo XC60 T8 and a BMW 330e and they too have pressurized fuel tanks which work exactly the same as the Peugeot.
