Enjoyed the video chap keep up the interesting content, its nice to see proper petrol heads apreciating all types of proper cars,good bit of content mate not enough of these types of reveiws on the older cars that are just comming into modern classic status, i own a gti 140 version and love pugs, planning to put some 180 bits on mine, head etc would be great to see some more pug/ 206 content if possible / subscribed! 👍

This is my next car and im in Australia these are so rare to find cant wait to get one !

Wow hope you get a nice one a lot fun to drive gearing is amazing on these low gears give you big output.

I had one in the same colour, really did not enjoy it at all, the gearing is horrendous, I swear it seems like the guy who designed the gearbox was from the north pole and the guy who designed the engine was from the south pole and they never met. The car has absolutely no torque below 3000rpm the only way to get off the line at a reasonable pace is to thrash it without mercy and use 1st gear as a driving gear. Yes the power and acceleration is there but in many ways I found it a slower car than the lower powered GTI, you have to be in exactly the right gear at exactly the right revs ALL the time, thats a horrible design limitation, every time I got it on the highway I kept reaching down to change gear but then I remembered I had run out of gears, the car will rev up to high speeds but its so horrid and noisy at speed. If a car is going to use as much fuel as a V8 then its probably just easier to drive a V8. I found the 180 to be reliable and well equipped but the ride is so stiff you can feel every ripple in even the smoothest road as a bone crunching jolt. It took me almost a year to sell it, they are worth so little now. Any time you see a 20 year old GTI 180 for sale with only 7 years of mileage you know its been off the road for 13 of those years with mechanical issues, people do not buy these cars to let them sit in the garage for years.

Wow thanks for your views i have not had one for long enough to know the niggles but the time i used it was a lot of fun and tbh im more of a bigger v8s guy so thats what im more used to

Ive just baught the gti180 and im loving it..they are very fuel hungry tho but mines ulez compliant..has some issues but i love these little beasts..the gti180 in black is the rarest of the 180s and theres only around 340 180s left on the road out of 5k that were imported into the uk as far as im aware anyway....anyway loved the video..and hope to habe mine back up n running soon

Hi mate thanks for your comment glad you loved the videos when i drove the 180 i have to say i was shocked its totally different from other cars in its class has a proper rally feel to it cracking little car i think it has future potential defo one to keep a close eye on good luck with yours ive noticed a couple of black ones on ebay atm but yeh like you say they are quite rare. I will try add some more gti content soon stay tuned.

I also drive and own a black GTI 180 but in Australia, so mine is very rare! This car is an absolute blast to drive, everything is smooth but rough all at once and the engine power is more than enough for a car of its size. My only real complaint is my gearbox, I can feel my syncro slowly dying, I’m putting off rebuilding the gearbox so I might just buy an old BE4 and salvage.

In the uk the rarest colour for 180 is white then red and black silver and blue are pretty abundant but you’re right there’s only about 350 of them left on the road and about 700 Sorn

Ok i always thought the 180 bumper dropped a little lower with that mesh grill but maybe my imagination. Still i nice looking car nevertheless
