    I did a vtr conversion on my on 97 1.1 106 and used a 1.6 rallye loom so it basically was a plug and play job. I then went and fitted a set of toyota 4age throttle bodies and a 1.3 rallye cylinder head and the car was like night and day. The 1.3 rallye cylinder head made a huge difference.

    Nice simple conversion using the 205 ignition! I have done a VTS engine in my 205 1.4 rallye, what did you do for the rear water outlet back of the block? Did you keep the 205 flange and hose, assuming you are using the 205 radiator. Thanks

  • @petrolpaul

    @petrolpaul

    3 жыл бұрын

    Pretty sure the outlet position is the same on the VTS block. You can buy an ally rear water outlet from Bakerbm or Spoox and should probably fit the standard bottom rad hose. If not bakerbm do a silicone hose for a Saxo VTR that fits. Might have to trim the hose down depending on the radiator

    Hello, my 8v vtr engine has the newer coil pack ignition rather than the distributor, is it a straight swap to put the distributor as I'm wanting to run bike cars as well, cheers.

  • @petrolpaul

    @petrolpaul

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hi it is a straight swap over as that area of the head casting is the same. You will also need the housing for the distributor to swap over and use a decent RTV sealant to fit it to the head. You might need the water outlet that the thermostat is on for the head as well. You could always keep the coil pack and run a ignition only ECU like nodiz

    Hello, I have a question about that crankcase breather. Is there any fear over oil clogging up the filter and/or hot air in the engine bay harming the head? Thanks, and fantastic video! Hoping to see more!

  • @petrolpaul

    @petrolpaul

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hi the crankcase filter in this video I have seen done before on Tu engine but that was only a temporary fit for me. I didn't have any issues but I did install a oil breather catch not long after as its a much better idea. Then vented to atmosphere through the filter from the catch can.

    Only issue I had with heating was the old radiator was leaking and then burst, dumping all the coolant which resulted in over heating. Also some of the old hoses where perishing and the rear water outlet seal on the back of the block leaking. Old cars over time will come up with wear and tear issues so always good to check/replace those. I replaced with new hoses and a 205 gti radiator which resulted in no cooling issues at all.

    Hi depends if you block off the air correctors ect. I would possibly start with around 1.6 jet size and see if you then need to go for a bigger jet size or smaller from there.

    what gearbox, drive shafts, and front struts did you use? standard from 205 or from 106 or..?

  • @petrolpaul

    @petrolpaul

    3 жыл бұрын

    Not sure on the gearbox if I'm honest. It may either be the original XS gearbox or one from a 106. I use the original 205 driveshafts and haven't had any problems, I would of used the 205 drivshaft bracket that bolts onto the engine as well. Front struts are coilovers installed from a previous owner that can't be identified.

  • @petrolpaul

    @petrolpaul

    4 жыл бұрын

    Hi when you say electronics I guess you mean the ECU. I didn't install a ECU as its carbs and distributor ignition so none of that was used. The bike carbs sorted the fueling management side and the dizzy sorted the ignition. I just wired in a simple fuel pump via a relay from a R6 bike. Ignition didnt require anything as I used the stock distributor ignition setup on the new engine.
