The voice and presence were still there good and strong. OK it wasn’t the way I’d imagined seeing her perform live but I can still tick it off the bucket list and watch these great videos people have posted. I went off her for a while in the mid 80s after she made some political statements about the Falklands and the miners strike from the stage while performing at the Albert Hall before flying back to her home in Switzerland but I only have to listen to that great voice and these great songs and can’t help but forgive her.

My uncle's family came up to Maine and all of us were thrilled to see them. All of us had dinner at home r then went skating at the Portland Roller Drome. The Roller Drome had an oldies night and it was INCREDIBLE!!!!! My aunt Peggy and my uncle maybe had too much cheer but they were loving what was going on. My aunt, uncle, and my cousins skated to a great oldies song and were very good!!! My mother, my sisters Eva, Nancy and Caroline were standing next to my mother and me and my girlfriend Debbie were behind them. My uncle started to tease my mother and then my mother told my uncle's family, " Sit Down classis now in SESSION"!!! My mother turned to me and said, " C'mon Allie"!! Time to show these people who we ARE"!! All everyone saw was an INFERNO in my eyes and my energy level go NUCLEAR"!!!!! My mother and I went out on the skate floor and put on a skate clinic!!! Debbie SCREAMED in delight and joined me then we uncorked dance moves we created for this song. My sister Eva screamed "HOLY SHIT" and got in the groove with us. Then Nancy and Caroline came out and picked up the groove we were in!!!! We got done and the Roller Drome ROCKED from the cheering and screaming we received!!!! My uncle, aunt, and cousins were in SHOCK!!! over the skate lesson we gave them!!! My sister Eva looked at me and Debbie and said, " I don't know where you got that routine but you ARE going to teach me"!!!! The Owner of the Roller Drome then came out and Kissed my mother and all of us kids!!!!! My mother said to my uncle, " How did you like the way my kids skate"""!!!!! The Roller Drome erupted in deafening cheering and screaming!!!!🥰🥰❤❤💋💋✌✌⚡⚡⚡🌀🌀🌀🔥🔥 NUCLEAR!!!!! ME!!!!!!

The 60s had a massive explosion of talent. From UK was Petula Clark dusty Springfield, Sandy Shaw, Cilla Black and Lulu. In the US the list is endless, all the girl bands - Ronettes, Supremes, Martha and the Vandellas etc etc etc. Rockers like Janis Joplin, black singers such as Aretha, her sister, Dionne Warwick. A wonderful time for great music. I had forgotten though how good Petula Clark was, I am old enough to remember her and the other British singers. Even the French produced some greats too, I adored Mireille Mathieu at the time.

I think she likes him, too. When the instrumental break came up, and it was time for her to dance, she went right to him.
Imagine if there was a Petula Clark but there were never any songs written for her to sing? Now that would be a sad place....
I never saw her in person but I loved seeing her on TV, she had a great fashion sense and I loved the way she danced. Look at that smile. Today singers don't smile. I miss that.

I finally got to see her live on stage last year when she played the bird lady in Mary Poppins in the West End. She was nearly 90 years old and clearly having the time of her life.
This is what real talent looks like
Why do I LOVE 60's music so much. My brother says it's because I was born in the 60's...Primacy Effect......................
I love her dance moves especially!
So much beautiful vocals coming from a wonderful lady.

ME!!!!!!
I rediscovered this song while sitting in the mezzanine lounge of the JFK Airport TWA Hotel. I was immediately transported back to when I took my first airplane trip out of that very same building when it was an airline terminal in 1968.
Song after song of perfect instrumentation and vocalization! I was born in 53. We moved to El Paso in August of 62 and left in August of 67. Most of her great songs covered that time period. You only had to hear her newest song once before you were riveted to it upon second listen.
