Agreed. I have this to do today and dont have a smoke wrench. I actually have a broken leaf spring on the Air Leaf so it will be fun.

Gonna sound counterintuitive, but heat the bolt heads up cherry red, let them cool off till they are almost gray/black and hit em with the impact. Works for me. Work on equipment now more than trucks, but did the trick to one of our old 325 bottom roller bolts. Every bolt minus one broke. Anyway figured I'd share, if its something you aren't replacing obviously. Just subbed, keep em coming man

I would imagine they are all dry rotted and about the same age so that would probably be the smart thing. One of mine went bad im just going to replace the set on that axle tho

On this one it was dry rotted and pushing out, might be harder to see if yours are covered in grease. On my truck it started falling apart cause of the dry rot and when I was doing my pre trip and checking the tires with a hammer I noticed the wheel rocking back and forth slightly. Checking all of them now, should replace them before they fall apart obviously lol. I'm just wondering if he had to support the axle or spring to remove the spring eye. it looks like he didn't but then did with a jack stand to put it back on

The Western Star, I had before the Pete had the Hendrickson air ride, was much easier to work on. I could replace entire spring assembly on & off before this one is torn apart.

@@peterbilt898 How much will it help the ride of the truck? I have a 1993 Pete 379 that has a floppy ride at any speed even on a perfectly smooth road.
