That sound brings back a lot of childhood memories. My uncle had a Ford Louisville tri-axle dump truck with a 3406E and an 8LL when I was a kid, and I remember the sound of that CAT turbo really well.

Is there a big difference between a 379 and 359 cab? Does the 379 have more space between the seats and wider/bigger windshield?

Yes there are a lot of differences. 379 is much bigger. Plus they have an ultracab option with gives several inches more headroom. I would say the 379 is a good 8-10” wider also most of them are “big hole” which means the opening to the bunk is wide enough that the seats can be farther back allowing for more leg room 👍

Ok! Is a 389 cab even bigger or is it the same as the 379?

Same size. The interior or a 06-07 379 is almost identical to a new 389. Different colour dash and an updated display 👍

Bubbles_8V92 ok 👍 Is it hard to learn to shift a 15 speed for example if you are familar with synchronized transmissions?

Ummm like being used to a synchronized transmission in a car and than switching to trucks? All truck transmissions are i synchronized so the 15 is the same in that sense. The difference is the air shifts that u get in a 13 and 18 speeds. A 15 speed is basically a 10 speed with 3 ranges instead of 2. Its a good transmission with basically 12 progressive gears (3 overlap). I usually shift 1-5 in deep reduction 4-5 in low range and 1-5 in high range. Basically what makes it “harder” is you don’t have those easy air shifts like you have in the 13/18 those allow you to move the stick as the air shift moves through neutral making it easier to shift 👍 so a 15 requires a little bit more sense of timing and rpm management 🤙

Is there a big difference between a 379 and a 359 in comfort?

The 379s featured wider cabs and more bunk options also tilt steering wheels... from the mid 90-s they had air ride cabs with larger bunk openings allowing for more leg room.

@@Bubbles8V92 Figured so; the way you were shifting looked a litter quicker than if empty.
