A deep look into the the throwing action of the 2022 PDC world champion and current world number one.
Peter "snakebite" Wright has won 2 would titles, the world matchplay and much more, this video shows why.
My channel is exclusive to darts only content. I create my content as I simply love to play darts and want to help other dart players improve with my own channel.
All my video's are based on how to play darts as well as advise on equipment and general darts setup with the aim to guide any new players in their darting journey as well as provide more experienced or even professional dart players with dart content to help improve.
I throw around an 80 average myself with my left hand due to in injury and dartitis in my right arm.
I may on occasion use footage from the Professional darts corporation (the P.D.C) as well as The British Darts organisation (The B.D.O). These are used under fair use legislation and all credit should be given the rightful creators.

    Great analysis as always. I've been guilty of trying to overcomplicate things bust since I've stripped my throw down I've improved steadily.

    I think he has the smoothest and most each dart specific throw. Meaning, he doesn’t rely on rhythm at all. I think that’s why he’s been insanely consistent.

    Players who rely on rhythm are very vulnerable to things that influence said rhythm. Just look at how poor the B-game of rhythm players like Michael Smith can be at worst. Once it's gone, it's really gone.

    Good analysis. Despite it looking so simple, he put a lot of work into finding and perfecting HIS throw. When he was young, he used to copy Eric Bristow's style. From there he changed just about everything. His stance, the position of his middle finger, spreading out the ring finger and pinky, the head movement while pulling the dart back, the follow through, relying on rhythm, and most noticeable, the (lack of) tension in his hand and movement in his hand while he pulls the dart back. He is one of the best, when it comes to stepping to the side to find another corridor and keeping locked on the target. Absolute legend.

    Really great analysis. Wright has such a simple throw, he’s really achieved being very minimalistic in all of his movements. For all the people out there who feel pausing between throws is a negative, look no further than Wright. Sure, everyone is different and has to do what’s best for them, but this would work for most amateurs if they tried it long enough.

    Fantastic analysis Daniel. I’ve been holding the dart like this for a couple of weeks. Originally my fingers were more forward and the middle finger on the point. I was finding when I pushed the dart away I struggled to release the dart correctly. Always a work in progress and this video will definitely help. His upper body position is fantastic also considering his foot is flat against the oche. Great video 👍🏻🎯

    It's always important to have the elbow at least slightly tucked in and if your learning or trying to improve keeping the arm up right and as straight as possible like MGV is so much easier. You can play with with a slight tilt on the forearm if your still pushing the dart down the line you aiming at but if you pull it low or realese to earley your more likely to go in the 5 or 1 that if its straight and in line with the T20. Stay in the center and keep the arm up straight then work from there. 😀

    Yes, I learnt that off listening to Taylor, Wright, and Bobby George. It's very helpful to always wear the same shose. It keeps the height and comfort and also always you to remember what part of you shoe toes the oche. I use the shose in this link and have done for years. They may be ugly, but they work, and I can stand for hours in them. I‘ve started playing darts 2 months ago and its been going pretty well (already 2 180s). However, almost every time I start playing, I feel like a different throwing style would work better for me and therefore I am not very consistent. Is it normal that I havent found my personal throwing style yet?

  • @Straightdarts

    @Straightdarts

    2 жыл бұрын

    Definitely, it can take a good 2yrs to fully develop the throw that's right for you and every now and then it will still need to be changed. Look at how many times Phil Tylor changed his throw, even after 25yrs as a pro he was still experimenting. 😀

    Is his throw slightly different than the rest of the player he doesn't flick his wrist more like taylors know what I mean ?

  • @Straightdarts

    @Straightdarts

    Жыл бұрын

    The wrist is still used. Both him and taylor do have some similarities. If you look at how much the point goes upward on the draw back, it's very noticeable. This causes the wrist to lock on the draw back for them to snap though at the point of release. Wrist sometimes opts to throw flat like taylor but some times he dose add some flick when useing longer darts. This allows him to make the dart land in different ways and helps massively when using different equipment. :)

  • @Straightdarts

    @@paullennon8586 no, it's only players who put a ginger on the point. The finger then either grips the point and lifts it or is placed just under the point and flicked up. It's a very different technique to get right but some players do it well. It's the only technique I cant copy. I always hold the darts at the back and have a slight push down on the rear of the barrel on release like Lewis or Beaton. This had the same effect but I find it much easier. :)
