Steves throw is majestic
Any new videos soon ,I see Connor scutt did well on modus
I'm hopping to either make a video or mabe an Q&A on the 9th and 18th of September. :) It the only days I have two hours free. Been coaching 14 to 17 hours a day lately. Sorry mate.
@Straightdarts wow lots coaching any video of those
The 120 average he pulled off earlier was mad
Superb m8 well done
Thank you mate. :)
I got a fitting done at a local shop with 2 non-pros watching my dart flight. Took about 15 minutes and came away with a very affordable set. It's good to get an opinion but it's not everything. Since then I've switched twice anyways
Good practice with some noise 😅
I know she, is finally turning 4 and I have another one that age call me now, haha
Does he always keep that finger under the point?
Iv notched he has a slightly different grip in some photos, sometimes he is slightly closer to the noise of the dart and sometimes it's more on the side ofnthe point.
Thanks really good advice
great info for a new player! straight to the point as well. thanks
Don’t suppose you could do a Stephen bunting throw analysis when you get a chance? Always been intrigued by his throw
I'll try me best to get footage when the coaching calms down. :)
He holds his dart different now...not straight, but more like Bunting pushing it
what size barrel diameter would you recommend for a beginner ?
Aournd 6.5mm or 8mm. You want it a bit thicker to keep it comfortable, you won't see the difference in them being any thiner than 6.5mm anyway. :)
Great demonstration. Do you always have to put the point in as far as it will go or as long as it’s in firm and not coming out? Thanks
You can push them in a bit less on some to keep them even or to allow the point to patruid more, bit if you do this, always use a tiny bit of fast dry super glue. :)
Just like a tank turret! Thanks a lot for the video
My arm will always end up quite high after the release of the dart? Is this down to releasing the dart too late? And do I stop this?
Yeah, the laster you release the more you'll lift. Find the pause at the end of the draw and work on lifting the wrist instead of the elbow. :) you'll need to throw alot softer to slow the forarm down. Let the wrist be the first thing ti more after the draw back. Flick it, don't throw it. :)
@@Straightdartsthanks so much for getting in touch. I tend to throw like gary Anderson, pushing the dart rather than throwing and swiffling the dart into position. So I need to throw more like a Mervyn king style, more flick of the dart, just said Mervyn due to him also swiffling the dart into position. Find it quite hard to replicate how gary pushes the dart and keeps his forearm straight!!
my repointing tool has just broke and my new gary andos points have snapped with about 5mm out kf barrel, any other way of repointing it?
Congrats pal, not just a fantastic coach 👏 your video analysis of my throw has helped me progress very steadily over the past year or so working on getting my elbow lower etc, and it looks and feels a lot better now. One thing I have noticed is that my elbow is at a better height, I pull back then just before i go theough with the arm, my elbow rises just slightly before i go theough with the dart. Any tips or cues on how to stop this happening? Cheers for all your help 👍🎯
Thanks mate!! :) Try to stop using the arm at first. Find more pause after the draw and let the wrist become he first thing to move. Lift the wrist not the elbow :)
@@Straightdarts thank you, I've started trying a longer pause and can already feel/see the difference. Way more clarity when I pause. It feels like it's at my sight forever but it clearly isn't. Thanks a lot pal 👍🎯
I’m a beginner at darts and I bought this board because I wanted the best, All my complaints are the same as yours not happy with the quality of it.
My biggest issue now is after battling dartitis (still fighting )my alignment is completely off, my elbow is at the right angle but isn't in line with my body which means I'm covering my face when I throw and it's really uncomfortable finding that old alignment.
Try lowing the elbow, and if you have to keep the angle on the forarm, male sure you keep that angle like Lewy Williams. Don't try to straighten up during the motion of the throw as your elbow will move inward.
@@Straightdarts I'll try that, thank you! ♥️
Another coaching video soon i hope My darts have jumped from low 70 s average to mid 80s
Absolutely amazing effort Danial, well done. Sorry been away for nearly 6 weeks without access to You Tube. Be proud, be very proud 👏🏻🎯🏆
Could I ask your opinion on this buddy, ive chaned my grip from a 2 finger grip to 3. Ive had a 2 finger grip for years but im constantly getting inconsistent darts, darts landing slightly sideways and lots of bounce outs. Ive now changed to 2 fingers on the barrel and 3rd finger resting on the side/top of the point. The darts are flying much more smoothly and although ive only been using this grip about 3 days they are sticking in the board straighter and more of the point going in the sisal. My only issue, finishing/doubles have got worse. Does this sound like i should stick with this grip and hopefully finishing will improve or would you suggest going back to old grip? Thanks
It's sounds like removing a ginger will help, but you need to aplay even pressure with the index finger and thumb. Make sure the grip with the index finger snd thumb is even and all other fingers are very light.
@@Straightdarts thanks mate 👍
5:10 describes me to a tee. Starting to think I'm beginning to develop dartitis. I'm losing matches to people I know I can beat every day of the week. I've dabbled in throwing left handed and I feel as though my follow through is almost perfect though I have little to no accuracy yet, I'm just pleased if my darts hit the board.
Could you do a Paul Lim throw analysis
Brilliant, it’s not just you can’t release the dart. I said to my m8 once when we where playing “I can’t physically just straighten my arm the way I want too” he could see I was upset and suffering from it. I had a quarter final in my local club and the whole week up to it I put myself under so much pressure, practicing every day and practicing badly, I fell apart and couldn’t wait to get off the oche first to 3, beat 3-0. I think it’s a case off wanting to do well and putting yourself under unnecessary pressure to do so. Iam trying to relax and enjoy the game more because if you don’t it will get the better of us who have it. I love the game and I’ll keep trying, your videos are a big help in that. 🎯❤️
Minus the body movement, Good throw to replicate for rear grippers?
Definitely, the hard part is getting the dart to kick up at release. :)
@@Straightdarts I’ve been replicating Dimi’s throw atm as I find it very comfortable, I replicated Nathan’s but I found my arm aching after a while
@@Jacksafc08 There you discovered, why Asp is now plagued by his arm-injury and now has to pause for a while. Not a style, which one should recommend. I think, he has to learn, how to throw the dart properly.
It's surprising to see a relatively recent post on Jockey Wilson. My story: Jockey was the guest trophy presenter at a dart tournament I played in at Campbeltown Scotland; I think it was 1984 or '85. One person (me) from each team played him one game of 1001.... no I didn't win lol. Remember him being cheerful and funny with the jokes. I have a photo somewhere of he & I at that time.
Might change my grip, I'm 99% sure my middle finger (stabiliser) is the last one that leaves the darts and sends it into the 5 alot
Well done Buddy
I just started and I have a question about the release should you release it with your fingers or your wrists
Your worst must be moving on release, you don't have to push with your fingers but some players find it helps to have a very small push off the fingers as well. :)
Thanks I'll give it a try @@Straightdarts
Would love to see an update on this video. I feel like most of MVG’s bad form right now is due to changes in his technique. Especially the grip. Good vid mate 🎯
Your right, his alignment is off and his elbow is used was to much.
His dart nowadays points very far down on the draw back where as before the dart was pointing up . The angle is quite significant . Is this a result of the injury that required surgery perhaps ?
@@stumetallicafan He used to do that when he was 16 years old. Watch his game against Martin Adams in the international darts league back in 2006. :)
@@stumetallicafandeffo a possibility about the surgery. His dart is pointing way down to the ground when he throws, which must be causing the wrist/elbow to react more to propel the dart. It could only make him more injury prone and cause for more stray darts when he’s playing. I definitely feel that if he made some positive technical changes in his game he could get back to the top of the game again. Still plenty of years for him.
Absolutely lovely assessment of this throw. Loved this.
This is the first video i see talking about switching targets. Gives me a good idea what to work on
Class video, great info.
Decent throw to replicate or is it more of a natural throw?
It's can definitely be replicated, the hard part is getting the worst to more so early. You need to be very soft from the arm with loads of flick. :)
Actually I want to change my throw like this but I'm holding near middle of my barrel. I tried to change my index finger but my throw I'm using middle finger for touch point ,so I didn't change I don't feel comfortable when I'm throwing. This technique is better for stacking but how can I do that without change my comfortable grip.
You either have to change the grip or you can keep them flat with a small fight so the bed is less obstructed by the other darts. Let the dart land flat like Taylor in the early 2000s.
@@StraightdartsThanks for your advice mate. I'll try it asap on different flights. My grip actually like Gary Anderson but I didn't understand why I didn't kick the flight. He's an absolute talent ofc 😂 I hope I'll take a throwing analysis from you.
A good coach don’t have to be a great player and a great player will not be a good coach!!Appreciate all your time and coaching 🙏keep the fire for all STTP!!!
Thank u and my alignment has came better and improved by ur teachings.Pls do a video on preparation for a tournament.Wen practicing all goes well but in a game it goes haywire and winning games I lose🤦♂️pls advise.
You may be practicing to much. Make sure you take a day or two off very week and start to develop a match day preparation. I'll make a video on how I warm up for an event as soon as possible. :)
Absolutely brilliant, to do what you've done after what you've been through with your dartitis. You are awesome
Thank you so much! 😀
Mate could you do a video on how to stop dropping your elbow while you throw
Yeah :) I'm struggling to get anything done other than the privet work at the moment, but first chance I get ill do it. I have 100 hours of coaching a week at the moment, it's mental.
Molded flights last ten times longer and no robin hoods
Not for me, they broke just as quick and I just pieced the flights to get Robin hoods instead. It's different for eatch player tbf, some get brilliant results with them :)
You know what darts he was using from 2014?
Unicorn core darts 24g. :)
@@Straightdarts thx you🙏
@@Straightdarts And in 2023 ; With the gold points?
@Andreas8455pp unicorn signatures based off them. 24g :) It's the same dart but better quality.
hello mate, how did the board pan out, did you play throughout the year?? and how does it perform now..?
It was alright, I used it for 5 months. I lt was a little softer than I like, and went to a mission infinity board.
@@Straightdartsthankyou, i was also interested in mission samurai 2 or with a strained budget in infinity but here in India either winmau b6 or uni. e pro2 is readily available.. but thankyou for your valuable input and grateful for amazing insights on your channel😊
