In theory yes, but there's a lot of wealth floating around in the financial sector that has no benefit to anyone other than the people leeching off of it.

Rent-seeking behaviour + misaligned incentives are the main problems, e.g. finance people charging per action vs. only gaining on % if what they invested in for you goes up; which responsibility does rest squarely on the finance industry + the other industrial complexes who selfishly maximize their profits at the expensve of all of society, higher short-term gain over long-term thriving that taps into the abundance of the universe vs. the most expensive tyranny.

Like MY father used to say, I never got a worthwhile job from a poor man.. WITHOUT the socioeconomic advantages provided from exceptionally motivated movers and shakers, we would all be equally poor and disadvantaged, I would never want to live in another failed socialism experiment.. Peace..

The question of wealth disparity needed to be raised. Claiming that wealth enriches everyone isn't a compelling argument in the light of such disparity especially when people are having to work long hard hours just to stay afloat.

"Claiming that wealth enriches everyone isn't a compelling argument in the light of such disparity especially when people are having to work long hard hours just to stay afloat." This is a straw man argument. What you're alluding to is corruption of and in free market capitalism and our state structure via regulatory capture by industrial complexes and bad actors-authoritarians. As Catherine Austin Fitts says - tyranny is very expensive.

@@mattmyers2624 It's not strawman argument when that is the reality of the situation. Sure, maybe in an ideal society where everyone acts as good actors and aren't greedy for unwarranted wealth, what Schiff is saying is accurate. However, the point is that there are many bad actors and and an individual's wealth isn't an objective indicator of utility (i.e. Schiff's point about Bitcoin).

@user-ll4cu5dh3b Perhaps you are right, friend.. Strawman arguments ARE rooted in a false initial premise .. STILL, in my opinion, Conrad's comment made no argument at all UNLESS it is that everyone should be paid the same. So, in my book, it does not RISE to the respectable level of a strawman argument.. Now, I don't mean that with animus, all of us have at least a few irrational biases.. One man's humble opinion..Reply?

@@Bill..N First of all my point is hardly a strawman argument plus if I was alluding to something I would have stated it. It is an observation and wealth disparity should have been addressed in the video. Peter Schiff's argument that wealth benefits everyone in society is limited. Wealthy societies generally do much better on the whole but there is still an enormous disparity that has grown over the last 40 years and people are having to work much harder than their parents or grand parents. It is a point of fact, hardly an irrational bias. And no, I don't think that everyone should be paid the same. Capitalism generally is good for generating wealth and is of benefit to society. It just isn't perfect and the current imbalance is a problem.

Example of the best way I like to think of basic economics: that tea I bought from you for $1 is worth more than $1 to me - so I won or got an ROI in the transaction.

i don't mind people being richer than me since i got everything i need .but the laws should be equal and rich people should pay higher taxes .but unfortunately this is not the case because of corruption rich people have too much power and can ruin my life without any consequences .

Wealth is not evil, but individuals having billions of dollars in the bank account WHILE millions and millions of people on the planet are starving, have no access to medical care, to clean water is ASTONISHING in my book. 😥😞 Those rich people forgot that they would never have become rich without the HELP of our entire civilization. 🤔 A truly civilized planet would never allow such disparity between their people, every one of them, no exception!

Just in response to the title.. People are evil and because of any of a variety of reasons, money and taxes is a big reason these days but the reasons for such are vast to say the least.. So in order to not fall into such category it requires an awareness of oneself a worldly awareness and understanding, a caring awareness of not only the less fortunate but of those that we should feel obligated to help. Stopping here to keep it short without this it would all be about me and the kingdom I seek to create (at any expense)

So, do you realize with this statement then the *only* "billionaires" would be the centralized states of nations - who are a single point-of-failure and target for bad actors to try to capture, to get access to pillage the treasures of society, whether through tax - or most recently through printing money causing an incognito tax of inflation? Having billionaires otherwise help counter the potential for tyrannical-totalitarian states, e.g. do you appreciate Elon had the money and brand name-reputation to be able to buy Twitter for $44 billion, which not only has given us a platform for relatively good amount of free speech - but it also was able to expose the corruption of the Biden administration using government institutions to censor-suppress American citizens?

Peter needs to get over his terrible bitcoin take already, I know he is only protecting his gold investment but everytime he says stuff like "btc doesn't do anything" it hurts his credibility. There are legit arguments against it, but that isn't one of them

Incognito wealth transfer via the tax called inflation. MOST IMPORTANT NOTE: With automation technology our buying power should been increasing each year, deflation should be occurring; that just shows us how much they've been fucking us - most of us have not been able to understand the wealth that comes with freedom and its abundance vs. the most costly tyranny controlling for artificial scarcity and fear mongering scarcity mindset and actual scarcity via policy.

There always has been and always will be inequality of wealth. Free market capitalism allows for the greatest creation of wealth. Nothing else comes close. Distribution of wealth is another issue altogether. The challenge is that every time the government forces redistribution through taxes or otherwise the total wealth created is reduced. Like most things there is a balance that must be reached. Society seems to move from one side to the other over time - always over correcting.
