Peter's Last Days | In Pursuit of Peter: The Apostle | Episode 6
Peter's final destination is Rome, the center of world influence. From there he writes his final words-words to live by and words to die by. Although he's crucified by Emperor Nero, his contribution to establishing the faith is incalculable.
ABOUT THIS SERIES:
How did Peter transform from an uneducated fisherman into one of the most celebrated and beloved Jesus-followers in history? New Testament scholar Con Campbell (host of "In Pursuit of Paul") wanted to find out. It's one thing to read about people in Scripture. It's another thing to trace their life histories to more fully understand their backgrounds and the profound effect Jesus had on them. Con invites you to join him in his pursuit of Peter.
Explore the places where Peter lived and traveled, starting by the Sea of Galilee where he labored as a fisherman--an unlikely disciple, but purposely called by Christ. Continue the journey to Jerusalem, Turkey, Rome, and other locations where Con meets people who provide insights into Peter's passionate personality. You'll see the life of Peter unfold through Scripture, interviews, and stunning on-location footage.

Am absolutely blest by this series and Apostle Paul's journey. I binged watched when i bumped on it the other day. Now am thinking of re-watching them slowly along with my bible and concordance😀. You brought the word to life for me through these two series. I also got answers to some questions I have had all along....including why the apostles laboured so much in the churches in Asia minor like in Antioch (in Turkey), Cappadocia, Ephesus (Paul had a seminary sch here duh) etc yet today those places are desolate, they have a very small percentage of Christians and churches became ruins and historical sites😥. But Con mentioned it in the previous episode explaining why...and my eyes just lit up😊. God bless this team and do you good! Super blessed

Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul? Matthew 16:24-26 ESV Joseph, What Jesus is saying is, to deny yourself of all your own selfish pursuits in life and spread his gospel around the world, even to the point of being killed for it. It profits you nothing to seek after money or fame or anything else in this world, but to spread the name of Jesus Christ and his gospel is to gain eternal glory with him in heaven! The reality of God becoming a man, I don’t think any person or any human institution can process it correctly. Therefore the personal struggles of Peter to appropriate that correctly and institutions trying the same, is wrought with inconsistencies and confusion and is just a reflection of our inability.

All early churches are built in honor of Jesus above all. In name? One that I immedately think of is the Hagia Sophia, which is named "Holy Wisdom" after Christ, the Wisdom of God.
This is beautiful to watch and very well done. I did not watch this for any religious purpose, I just enjoyed it I am confused though. I was raised as a catholic, but, I have many questions about religion especially the catholic church In the beginning, you said to Corrado, you don't follow Peter and neglect him because he belongs to the catholic church but follow Paul because you are Protestant, meaning, that Peter is not important in your belives If God were true, then why the Catholics, Protestants, Muslims, Buddhists, ETC, are not on the same page, as many, many innocent people over the years have been murdered, tortured, burnt alive, and used as sacrificial lambs in the name of God. I have been to Rome and Europe many times and have read a lot about religious history and it seems to me that the word GOD is only a license for people in power to do as they please with other human beings. For example, Henry the eighth who founded the church of England for his own greed, murdered, tortured thousands of innocent Catholics, for not changing over and become Protestant. Now did God tell him to do that, no His Daughter, Queen bloody Mary, Murded, tortured, burnt alive thousand of innocent Protestants for not converting to Catholicism after Henry's death. Did God tell her to do that, no Her Sister Queen Elizabeth the 1st Murded, tortured, burnt thousands of innocent Catholics for not converting to Protestants when her sister Mary died. did God tell her to do that, no .So why do they say in the name of God.. Really, in the name of God, as they say, is in the minds of people with power who like to play God. And in some countries around the world, some leaders are like Gods because the people have no choice but to see them as gods. North Korea for example This is why I question religion and the Bible..You are chasing Peter, but did the 12 apostles ever exist. in your case 11 apostles, lol Thank you I just wanted to share my thoughts with you on how I see religion, as I believe it is used as a tool for power and not the spiritual side of things, as a lot of good people see it. Popes and bishops have been murdered in the past, if they were in the way, not for religious reasons, but for political reasons
