What rock star in the 80s would've ever said he likes to read and hang out with his daughter? Maybe Robert Smith would've said something like that, but I can't think of anyone else. The thing that makes Peter Murphy different is the thing that makes him *spectacular*. That's why so many of us absolutely love him.

Mentioned that the most important thing for him outside of music was his daughter. Bravo.

Modern music got nothing on this stuff. Such creativity and genuine showmanship back then.

He's got the looks, the voice, the moves, the skills, the magic...........I am so thankful to the Great Mystery for Peter Murphy. His music cuts me deep and lifts me up, and I never get used to it, it always hits me fresh. I didn't know he is a dad too, how cool.

this is how I want to remember him. young, bloodlessly sleek. the most unique baritone voice in pop music.

I have alot of respect for him. He's a family man, and a perfectionist of a performer! DEEP is one on of my favorite LPS of all time.

I actually met him in a town called Ventura , in California . He was there for a show. He asked if there was a restaurant near by and said down the corner was Denny's. He invited me to accompany him . He was so gracious And charming. I was mesmerized.

Such a great performer (yes, lip sync, but Peter Murphy lip sync... never bad) and tells us the important thing is to be a dad. Kudos.

I love how at 5:50 Pete lip-syncs the line "look for what seem's out of place", and that's the *one* moment where he does not lip-sync. Brill.

This song just makes me feel so many things at once

Love hysteria and deep, the two big albuns, but i like a lot the last...and of course dalis car with nick karn...holly smoke my last vinil, cascade only cd..i like a lot bauhaus and everything that came from there, tones on tail, love and rockets , david j and daniel ash the supreme clear voice.

I saw him in Chicago at the Vic. I want to say it was about 28-30 years ago .awesome concert ... and beautiful goth girls.

@@ivorytower99 I saw Peter Murphy around '86 in a small venue with very loyal fans in Long Beach. Up close & could almost touch him. Backstage he remained separate from opening bands & anyone. Jane's Addiction & Cathouse opened for him. I was backstage w/Cathouse but met Dave Navarro - an incredibly kind person. A friend called a famous hotel on Sunset Strip Hyatt House (aka Riot House cuz all bands stayed there) & had the nerve to ask for "Mr. Murphys room please". And they put her through!! We heard his voice say "who is this?" all annoyed & hung up on her (I was listening in) Good times!

@@robin9876 I have met Pete a few times; last time, was in his dressing room, where we sat down for a chat. Oh, and with David, too. That's funny about calling Pete's hotel room. Back in 91-93, I did some volunteer work for LifeBeat in NYC -when it was still a fledgling organization. Well, Iggy was playing Boston and had requested LifeBeat set-up a table with condoms, literature, et cetera. I worked the table (which was funny, having Grandmothers telling me to "FUCK OFF!" when offering them condoms. I didn't get to see much of any of that show, but a few months later, in Spring of 94, I was down in Providence, RI, with a friend's band and we rented a couple rooms at the Biltmore Hotel. After my friend's band played, I went strolling around town and ended up outside the (old) Strand - where Iggy was playing that night. I got security to get Henry - Iggy's tour Manager, to come outside and told him how I'd missed the majority of the previous gig; so he let me and some new found friends into the show. What a blast that was. But afterwards, when we all got back to this (nice) hotel, we saw a large white drum set and heard it belonged to Igg's drummer an that they were staying in the hotel that night. When we got up to our room, I called downstairs and requested to speak with "Jim Osterberg". They said "no one with that name is registered". So, I went with a couple older women - both are also pro-Photogs. We rode the elevator to each floor, looking for Iggy. We finally found his floor, but were greeted by a big dude outside the elevator doors. :( Funny enough, I have photographs of ALL of this! lol PS If you're into Pete Murphy or David J, check out my channel... Tons of Pete Murphy Live videos (from front and center; as well as front row footage of David - from a gig he and I did in 2012.

@@robin9876 I know from interviews, Pete's only [Physical] interaction with Bowie, was on the set of the Hunger, where David said he was 'scared/too nervous' (paraphrased) and 'hid in the dressing room'. However, David chatted him up out by a jukebox. But Pete's mentioned in an interview about having Bowie's phone number; yet wanted to respect his space. I Google searched and there are no pics or scanned hard copies of David with Pete; just silly Photoshop montages.

I’d seen him at the Vic in Chicago, Jewel opened up for him. I was blonde and everyone thought I was there to see Jewel. I said both...I loved that concert, his voice is rich, deep and haunting. Jewel was really good, she seemed nervous down to the crowd but I loved her. Beautiful times .🙏❤️

I went to the same high school as Jewel in Anchorage. I was a senior and she was a sophomore at the time so I barely remember her. It was at Stellar Secondary, the nerd school (no bells, we could leave class whenever we wanted and there were no requirements to go to class as long as we kept up; it was like college in a sense.) Apparently Jewel didn’t like it there; which makes sense since she always seemed really shy and non-talkative.

All tv show shows are basically just like this now. No one sings live unless on the rare occasion they do and I believe you would know the difference.

I did like that these kids in town or not afraid to be joggers. In hometown we do use each other totally but we were so sophisticated about it. It was a great skill but this is something different just finding the vibration the leading edge vibrational variance of humor on both ends.
