My family is dysfunctional. One day it was different, I was sitting with my parents and casually chatting, we were laughing, everything seemed "normal". We decided to play a music channel on the TV and while I was looking for some music I came across this song and video, I immediately liked it and turned on Shazam to find it. This song now and always will remind me of that day when it seemed like we were a normal family, a day when there was no yelling and no fighting.

Because he knew it would upset me and he had that family. Then he got a different girlfriend who he could shout at. And a different one and a different one.😂 Then he died. Life isn't strait forward and I miss him a lot. I am blessed he saw me as the dutchess and treated me like it. I miss him every single day. It cuts you up

Was thrilled when I met Peter in the late 80s when I worked at a local radio station. He's very slight man, I was taken aback - they always look larger than life on TV/on screen! Very soft, deep voice, not showy at all. Just showed up at the station all alone, no entourage or anything. Made me love him even more! I was never a huge Bauhaus fan, but I do remember listening to his CDs from around that time over and over, great memories.

Bowie was CIA trash from Day 1. He can go rot in hell (if indeed he's even dead). Murphy was the real deal. Didn't need to be an agent provocateur. Didn't need to make anti-White comments. Didn't need to complain about what networks weren't airing what to get his tuneless caterwauling crap onto the charts. Peter only needed to let his music speak for itself.

The most impressive part is that there was no digital editing then. No such thing as layers of video elements on a computer. Each layer was composited using analog equipment and hundreds of hours of focus and dedication. Lots of cool stuff could be done with green screens and multiple video players feeding into a mixing console, but the high quality equipment was crazy expensive and required studio space to accommodate all of it. Now people can do all this in their phones. Crazy world.

On and on it goes Calling like a distant wind Through the zero hour we'll walk Cut the thick and break the thin No sound to break no moment clear When all the doubts are crystal clear Crashing hard into the secret wind. You know the way It throws about It takes you in And spits you out It spits you out When you desire To conquer it To feel you're higher To follow it You must be clean With mistakes That you do mean Move the heart Switch the pace Look for what Seems out of place. I’m in my 20s and had a drug overdose last year. Been addicted to drugs ever since I was tormented by bullies in high school. Now I’m being tormented by this toxic lifestyle, but I’m truly fighting it now. This song is helping me fight through the terrible withdrawals. It’s as if Peter Murphy is speaking directly to me, as he stares into my soul and sings “You know the way…” My choices have been cutting me up for far too long. I’m crying now and ready to get CLEAN! 🥲🖤🎶

find you in the morning After dreams of distant signs You pour yourself over me Like the sun through the blinds You lift me up And get me out Keep me walking But never shout Hold the secret close I hear you say You know the way It throws about It takes you in And spits you out It spits you out When you desire To conquer it To feel you're higher To follow it You must be clean With mistakes That you do mean Move the heart Switch the pace Look for what seems out of place On and on it goes Calling like a distant wind Through the zero hour we'll walk We'll cut the thick and break the thin No sound to break no moment clear When all the doubts are crystal clear Crashing hard into the secret wind You know the way It twists and turns Changing color Spinning yarns You know the way It leaves you dry It cuts you up And takes you high You know the way It's painted gold Is it honey Is it gold You know the way It throws about It takes you in And spits you out Oh, cuts you up Oh, cuts you up Oh, cuts you up Oh, la la la la la la la la You know the way It throws about It takes you in And spits you out It spits you out When you desire To conquer it To feel you're higher To follow it You must be clean With mistakes That you do mean Move the heart Switch the pace Look for what Seems out of place Oh, cuts you up Oh, cuts you up It's o.k. It goes this way The line is thin It twists away Cuts you up And spits you out Keeps you walking But never shout
