An arrest is a stop. The police stop you, read you your rights, interview you down at the station and decide whether to charge you or, in certain cases, work out if you will agree to a caution. De-arresting means releasing that person without charge. If there is no charge, or a caution, then the arrest hasn't led to anything. De-arresting means de-stopped- it's not really a thing. The problem is that now an arrest goes on a police record, meaning consequences for employment or public reputation, even if no charges could ever be made. So the police "de-arrest" you- but the damage, as PH says, is done.

When you protest the monarchy here in the Netherlands they will arrest you and take you away. Then at the police station they will decide it isn't an offense afterall and let you go again. But by then the event will have passed, the monarch have left and with it your chance to get attention when it's relevant. Its quite an insidious way of limiting one's freedom of speech.

@@peterh1353 A charge or a caution should be the fact. If they arrest you then release you without charge, you either haven't actually broken the law, or it's a case of mistaken identity. Given my political stance I shouldn't really have time for Peter Hitchens but he is an original thinker always worth listening to. A few years ago I got involved in a brief argument about rail nationalisation on Twitter not with him directly but he was following the discussion. I was surprised to learn that he was in favour of the railways being publicly owned as they were a vital part of the nation's infrastructure and that there was nothing inherently anti Conservative in arguing for renationalisation, indeed unfettered privatisation was profoundly unconservative being an ideological as opposed to a pragmatic response.

Those of us who understand marketing, know the ultimate power that it gives to the wealthy, at the expense of the rest of us. Take our little chat here... You and I could argue as equals, exchanging points of view in a fair debate but if you were a wealthy man and you desperately wanted to win the argument in the minds of on lookers, all you'd need do is pay someone to set up multiple accounts, have them belittle my view and me, whilst repeating your views as facts. As for who are the far-right, we've sadly reached a point where most of the cabinet are far-right. Coffey, Mogg, Farage, Braverman, Truss along with the likes of Ben Elliot, Rupert Murdoch, Andrew Neil, Dom Raab and Steve Bannon. These people have gone to great lengths to remove our rights, trampled on the ones we still have, whilst pillaging our nation. They used freedom of speech to convince a nation that a man who spent his life campaigning against the injustice of inequality, was in fact a racist. Tell me how that is a positive?

He's so shrewd at identifying or diagnosing problems, but his conclusions and therefore his prescriptions for them are often the opposite of what I believe would make good policy. Certainly a very interesting character and a bold man of principle to be respected and admired.

I can only echo the many comments below in saying I always want to hear what this man says and hopefully he will continue as he does. I would bet that any prosecution council would hate having Peter speaking in your defence as he would be doing so in such an intelligent and articulate manner as to confuse everyone in the court and make them wonder what you'd done in the first place and why you were there?

The institutions such as the police and courts have chosen a side, and that side is "everything against the native people of Britain." It doesn't matter what it is, if on one side is historical native British culture or peoples - that side will be persecuted. Once you spot this, you see it everywhere. Funnily, I was watching Grand Designs. You know the people building these ugly modernist buildings always have a huge problem with getting the planning permission? Not this time. Why? Because the building "reflected the ethnic heritage of Nigeria." In a quiet English suburb. The owner said "The locals all hate it, but the planning committee - they loved it." That says everything.

I rather think the police know which way the 'political wind' is blowing when they do these things. You only have to look at the recent legislation that's been passed that limits our ability to demonstrate.
