Right with you man. He's a legend. And a magnificent human. What a writer and voice. Yet very humble.
Peter Gabriel’s music and stories are my therapy 😊
I Grieve is one of the most beautiful songs for people who are grieving as his voice as it builds makes the same sound our souls make during such a painful journey of missing the one you love. I listen to this song often after the loss of my husband almost 10 years ago! ♥️🕊️

An under appreciated LEGEND.
Peter Gabriel makes incredible music
Am I the only one that really liked what Peter was playing and singing? The improv he was doing? He sounds so good! I am ready for a new album...
Brilliant musician, and such a sound human being
If this conversation went on for hours, I would still be enrapt.
This conversation is as soulful as Peter's music. He is so pure. His shyness is endearing to me. There is no bullshit about him at all. I love how he turned the interview around. A clever guy and he didit brilliantly!
I love him. He seems to be such a nice man.
In the early 70s, PG introduced me to artistry, in the 80s he was my style guru, through it all a wise guide for living an honest life. And the outstanding music has worked into my consciousness and become the soundtrack of my inner life. It's impossible to over estimate the effect of this man on my life
Peter Gabriel is an excellent choice - a very insightful man! I was most pleasantly surprised. Thank you, School Of Life, for the effort to actually get this wonderful composer/performer for a great interview!
I love that you guys picked a great composer of his time over a mainstream "musician". My faith in School of Life is forever restored.

+Sonia Khatri I would consider Peter Gabriel pretty mainstream. But to me, that doesn't matter. He's still an excellent musician. Sometimes great people are mainstream. Sometimes they're not. It's irrelevant.

+Jaydoggy531 I'd say that he is known by pretty much every person that's activly looking for music from different times and people that lived in the 80's and became bombarded by Sledgehammer from MTV or the radio. But if you were born in the 90's and only listened to music on the radio you could be totally unaware of him. But yes, he is a great musician and that's what really matters.
Peter Gabriel is one of my favorite singer/musician. This was a very excellent interview.

I LOVE that song. Peter Gabriel reminds me of Bono in the way that he has the ability to channel (in ernest) his emotions into the listener. Some may say it is really good acting. I say, rather, that is in innate ability to touch your soul.
This is a great interview. I have always been a Peter Gabriel fan.
Massive massive fan of Peter and that era of genesis. ..was fortunate enough to see him do the lamb and he became my hero from then on..no better person than him to talk about life music and all the challenges that it throws up...Peter was streets ahead of everyone at his peak with genesis and then went on to even greater achievements and success...a truly remarkable musician and human being....

Always loved Peter Gabriel - wonderful musician and human being. Great interview and channel. Thank you. ♡☆♡
Long Live Peter Gabriel!
Peter Gabriel was pretty much the first musician I was ever exposed to in my life. Thank you for sharing this, truly inspiring stuff!
Wonderful, but the conversation could have gone forever! Love Peter Gabriel,.and thanks Allen for bringing him to your table!!
I've heard it said, "few men have wisdom..and the few who do, even fewer listen to"... Thanks for this interview School of Life.
i´m someone with depression problems and you´re videos keep me going. thank you
I was living at an ashram in India in 1986, building a recording studio. Hadn't heard any western music for 3 mths. We fired up the new studio. Someone came in with a new album from Peter & we put it on. 1st thing I heard was Red Rain and it blew me the F away! Thank you Peter!
Thank you so much for this film. I've enjoyed Peter Gabriel's music since the 80s and it's wonderful to hear him speak about music in this way. His music does seem to truly resonate emotionally for people (including myself). I've enjoyed these discussions (such as the one with Nigella Lawson) because the subjects are thinking very deeply about their field and there is plenty of time given to get into the nitty gritty. Thanks again. I think I'll be rewatching this one.
Tx so much. I saw him live in 87 and just now in Amsterdam May 5 23 . The man is a true genius.
I love you!
very sweet about his parents
He's simply the best.
Nice! One of my favorite musicians on one of my favorite KZread channels. I love hearing these two talk.
Just brilliant ! Two people I admire so much
Alain de Botton is someone whose biography and philosophic perspective I am familiar with, not without reservations. Imagine my surprise happening upon this delightful, thoughtful conversation!!! Wonderful.

Peter Gabriel is my favorite. I wish I knew where his music can be listened to streaming these days. I have always appreciated the song, "Darkness." I wonder what it would sound like with the original vocal track and the New Blood instrumental track.
I was 18 as i heard the first time Peter Gabriels music. From this time on i am an follower of his does - political and musical. My daughter also growed up with his music. We want miss him.

Wonderful, if only more music interviews took this sort of approach! I would love for the School of Life to consider making more content about music and such.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
very interesting! especially the last part about using music to connect with other species.
He was talking about the healing journey many of us must take from our upbringing before anyone else in 'digging in the dirt, find the places that got hurt, open up the places I got hurt.'
I Grieve is one of my favorite songs too.
my musical hero..........
The bonobo clip is one of the cornerstones of intelligence and a step towards the stair to peace and unity I've come across.

Peter: an astute, heart-fathomed insight into a topic which is, at very least, a mainframe institution of remunerative channels which allow associative dispersion(s) of anxiousness and passive undertones to be expressly renounced in the Spirit of Sound which, always divinely congruent with Presence, allows the process of Life to be appreciated responsively and Illumined in the Crystalline, Auric Light of The Supreme Creator.
looove this
thanks a lot for this.

+Julian Walker ~ An elder of my former religion would accompany people singing in tongues in just that way; the same intuitive sense. This is evidence that when music moves us, and seems so spiritual, its very profundity is in fact primal.

differous01 i am fascinated with how music is a language of it's own that has to do with the way relationships between audible frequencies speak to our nervous systems/brains in ways that evoke emotions... so yes, it is primal, non verbal, intuitive -and yet it also correlates with a kind of physics and mathematics in a way that is so cool!

Thank you TSOL, this was a lovely dialogue. Two of my favorite people! Has anyone ever told you that you and Brian Eno resemble each other? I imagine that he would be an excellent guest to have on. He's incredibly intelligent and one of the most interesting people I've ever met. Any thoughts on this? I wish I'd known that TSOL existed whilst I was in London for 8 years! Just moved back to the US 1 year ago, which is when I found your channel here. Thanks again for the fantastic content!
