Peter Gabriel - Heroes

Музыка

As featured in 'Stranger Things', the US supernatural horror television series.
Peter's orchestral version of the David Bowie / Brian Eno classic ‘Heroes'. Produced by Peter with Bob Ezrin and arranged by John Metcalfe.
The track is taken from Peter's eighth studio album 'Scratch My Back', the first part of Peter’s song-swap project. Originally conceived as a reciprocal arrangement that would be released as one album it was Peter’s half that arrived first, in 2010, featuring his orchestral interpretations of some of his favourite songs.
The second part, featuring artists covering Peter’s songs was aptly named 'And I’ll Scratch Yours' and followed in 2013.

Inspired by the sight of Bowie's producer-engineer Tony Visconti embracing his lover by the Berlin Wall, the song tells the story of two lovers, one from East and one from West Berlin. Bowie's performance of "'Heroes'" on 6 June 1987, at the German Reichstag in West Berlin has been considered a catalyst to the later fall of the Berlin Wall.] Following his death in January 2016, the German government thanked Bowie for8 "helping to bring down the Wall", adding "you are now among Heroes" en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%22Heroes%22_(David_Bowie_song)

I liked this song in Stranger Things, but the first time I heard it was the ending of Lone Survivor. If you haven’t seen it, it’s a war movie based on a true story. The song plays as it shows real pictures of the people who died. Every time I hear this song it gets me chocked up :( Such a good song

I am an Air Force Veteran born on June 28th, the day that Operation Red Wings took place . Peter Gabriel's version of Heroes at the end Lone Survivor moved me ! But when my neighbor across the street who just became an American citizen viewed the movie and heard the song , he literally came over crying and thanking me for my service . I remember seeing a free advanced screening of Lone Survior in the small theater that was on the military base we were stationed at. I was surrounded by service members, and the entire movie had a very profound effect on all of us. And then the movie ended, and this song began playing, accompanied by the pictures and names of all the fallen service members from the movie. Suddenly, every service member around me, all around the theater, stood up and saluted their fallen brothers. It was one of the most emotional and beautiful things I have ever experienced. Peter Gabriel, thank you for this wonderful tribute to the heroes of our nation. If you're reading this, and you serve, have served, or will serve in the military, thank you for what you do, from the bottom of my heart.

Was diagnosed with rectal cancer today, again. Same place in my rectum as two years ago and just a year after surgery. Listened to this song often during infusions, chemo, radiation and after surgery. Three months with ileostomy bag, then reversal surgery and now I'm back at the beginning of another painful bout with rectal cancer so once again I'll need to strive to endure being a hero so my 13 year old daughter continues to have her dad. Please get your colonoscopy at 45, it could prevent so much pain and hurt.

Whenever I heard this song, I always thought about when they found “Will” in the water. Now all I can think about is Hopper’s note. This song really adds a very powerful, emotional touch to those scenes. They wouldn’t have the same effect without it. Edit: I saw someone point out that this is the song that played when they found Will’s fake body in the quarry. We thought he was dead, but he wasn’t. Maybe they added this song to foreshadow that Hopper is also alive.

Peter gabriel is a legend. i first heard this at the end of Lone Survivor and i can’t help but get so choked up….such a powerful movie and i don’t think we’ll ever come close to such a moving movie in our lifetime again. R.I.P to those that gave their lives and left their families to fight. Never forget.

There's something I've been wanting to talk to you both about. I know this is a difficult conversation, but I care about you both very much and I know that you care about each other very much. And that's why it's important that we set these boundaries moving forwards. We can build an environment where we all feel comfortable, trusted, and open to sharing our feelings. _Feelings...Jesus..._ The truth is, for so long, I've forgotten what those even were. I've been stuck in one place, in a cave, you might say. A deep dark cave. And then, I left some Eggos out in the woods and you came into my life and for the first time in a long time I started to feel things again. I started to feel happy. But lately, I guess I've been feeling...distant from you. Like you're...you're pulling away from me or something. I miss playin' board games every night, making triple-decker eggo extravaganzas at sunrise, watching westerns together before we doze off. But I know you're getting older. Growing. Changing. And I guess, if I'm being really honest, that's what scares me. I don't want things to change. So I think maybe that's why I came in here. To try to maybe...stop that change. To turn back the clock. To make things go back to how they were. But I know that's naive. It's just...not how life works. It's moving. Always moving, weither you like it or not. And yeah...sometimes it's painful. Sometimes it's sad. And sometimes...it's surprising. Happy. So you know what? Keep on growing up, kid. Don't let me stop you. Make mistakes, learn from 'em, and when life hurts you, be as it will. Remember the hurt. The hurt is good. It means you're out of that cave. But please...if you don't mind, for the sake of your poor old dad, *keep the door open three inches.*

So, 1997 Stanley Cup champions Detroit RED WINGS had a couple players involved in a car accident days after winning. Vladimir Konstantin was in a coma, and was severely paralyzed. 1998 season, the Detroit RED WINGS only decor in their locker room was a rock, with Vladdys number 14, and the word "believe." When they won in 1998 against the Washington Capitals, in a 4 game sweep, this song played as they wheeled Vladdy, now juat able to smile, around with the Stanley Cup in his wheelchair. Thats the connection between these 2 moments. The operational name Red Wings was just a random coincidence, it was the 4th name on the list in 10 of hockey teams they were using.

As I said in another comment, this song made Will's and hoppers death sadder, mainly because this song packs emotion, example: Will's "death"- The though of losing your best friend (Or son in Joyce's perspective) is sad enough, but then a song like this comes along, the emotion of both the death and the song makes you feel like you're experiencing this moment to. (I mean Will's death)

Former Genesis lead singer Peter Gabriel offered a short, simple tribute to the late David Bowie on his Facebook page on Monday, sharing his cover of Bowie’s classic single “Heroes.” “Heroes, for me, was always one of the great Bowie tracks,” Gabriel wrote. “It is heroism in the face of oppression and desperation; it’s something triumphant despite the desperate situation.” Gabriel’s version of the song, originally recorded in November 2014 eschews the original’s guitar-driven melody for an orchestral approach, and has become part of his live performances, including his appearance at a ceremony marking the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall that same month.
