Peter Dutton to propose massive cut to the net migration rate

Sky News Australia can reveal Opposition leader Peter Dutton will announce a Coalition policy of a big cut to the net migration rate.
Sources have told Sky News that Mr Dutton may be cutting the net migration rate by as much as 100,000 from the government’s forecasts in the budget released on Tuesday night this week.
There has been discussion in Coalition circles in recent weeks of a cut in the net migration number to as low as 160,000.
This is a cut of almost half of the Albanese government’s forecasts for 2024-25, which is 260,000.
This comes as Mr Dutton is set to reveal his key policy initiatives when he delivers his budget reply speech on Thursday night.

Dutton isn't displaying nouse, responsibility OR leadership. Nobody's even ACTING on the housing problem - WHY? It seems they're 'saving' them for immigrants - many empty homes nationwide have been left empty for well over a decade now. WHY? This isn't 'leadership' or responsible government - it's evil.

There was a lot of pressure on them to pass the course or they would be gojng back to china if they failed. The pressure isnt a bad thing, i think australia is setting kids up by not pushing them hard to acheive, whilst other countries are. The ALP has this internal platform document to mass populate Australia's Eastern Seaboard but more disturbing, first surfaced back in 1975. 160,000 new arrivals EVERY year is still obscene. Cut it to ZERO, at least till housing and infrastructure catches up. Me, I'd make it ZERO permanently if I was running the place. The goal should be to SHRINK the current 26 Million people back to a more sustainable say 20 Million max. There were only around 13 Million people in Australia the 1970's and life was just fine.

  • @goldenautumn3073

And reducing it back to 13 million would ensure stability again - as long as the majority of immigrants (and most particularly who do NOT abide by our laws and social standards), are returned. Apart from anything else, Australia simply doesn't, and never has had, the infrastructure to support these floods of immigrants! THAT is why the previous 70's population status was comfortable - since then it's been an utter trainwreck - and it WILL go on getting worse if not stopped.
