Peter Crouch seems to be an amazing guy, but I think there was a slight undertone of him doing what he did. Talking about being starstruck and stuff, talking about Gerrard, Ginola, Torres etc. Don't forget Crouchy was a top player in his own right & not much is said about it.

@Adam Dunkley he was only starstruck when he was a youngster, so he wasn't starstruck by Gerrard or Torres, Crouchy just said that Gerrard was on another level than what he was used to in training and also he was very good but he was never on those guys' level

I agree massively with Crouch regarding 07. Rafa went very negative in that final and we should've taken the game to Milan. I felt we could've won that game not easily, but not such a struggle. If he played 2 up top with Crouch alongside Kuyt I'm convinced we'd have won. But we won it in 05 and never deserved that really so maybe things just even themselves out. Just wish Crouch stayed longer so he could've got more games after Torres left, but I won't ever begrudge him wanting to get games elsewhere.

@The true reds Yeah but count yourselves lucky. No way should you have the same amount of CL's as ManUtd in the Champions league era but you do somehow. 05 & 07 Liverpool squads weren't as good as ManUtd's and ManUtd didn't win it either year. 07 it was just the case that ManUtd had to play Milan a round earlier than Liverpool. ManUtd beat Liverpool home & away both 04/05 & 06/07 seasons and finished above Liverpool by quite a distance in 04/05 (Liverpool finished on same points as Bolton and with 2 more defeats than Bolton) and ManUtd were the best team in Britain in 06/07 and Top2 in the world won the PL, thrashed Roma in QF 7-1 etc... Both years Liverpool won CL 04/05 & 18/19 they only just scraped through their group in the last group game due to playing home vs the team they need to overtake for the runners up place and scraping a win to finish just ahead on head-to-head goal difference & head-to-head goals scored respectively. Both seasons I feel if Liverpool had to play away last game they would've been eliminated in the group stage. Their fans dragged them across the line.

They shouldn't have been European champions either year but they won in 2005 ok well done but don't talk about you should've won on other occasions when you didn't get all the luck in the final but there were clearly still better teams involved in the competition whom Liverpool relied on other teams eliminating.

That 2006 final we were the better team on the day and i remember being baffled that Crouchy was on the bench. Same as the South Africa world cup. Why Crouchy wasnt used more is just mind boggling. Just goes to show that England's manager have often been more at fault than the players for their struggles at tournaments. No winter break and the intensity of English football and its schedule is probably the biggest factor but the managers and their poor decisions or ineptitude; definitely close second.

Heskey & Rooney was the preferred partnership at the time Crouch just couldn't fit into the team. Remember Heskey got the assist for Gerrard in the 1st game so you know. We had 4 top forwards & only 2 could start.
