Well, I needed 2 ties per rim and it took me a little bit longer than you per tire, say about 10 minutes each, but I did it. Got them both on. I did sweat a little bit. But the thrill of victory is with me right now.

Can you PLEASE make more videos of how to repair basic wheelchair problems. Can you also make a video explaining how to know what size tire to buy and what size wheel, how to measure, what all the numbers mean when buying them and what handrims go on what size wheel/tire. I really wanna get mountain/knobby tires but don't know any of this info😅.

When cutting off the old tire, the rubber tends to grab the blade. To make the process easier, coat the blade(s) with a bit of grease or Vaseline. It will then slice right through the tire, no problem.

I got my first wheelchair this week, and I want to use it bowling, since that's a relatively easy sport and I was good before I became disabled. Two things to make that possible is to have a removable arm rest, and remove the hand rim on the same side. My provider ignored my request to have an easy to remove hand rim, and with solid tires, I would have to remove the tire first to get to the fasteners, then replace it to bowl. At the end, I would have to repeat the process to replace the rim. I'm searching for anything other than purchasing out of pocket (providers won't replace parts that are brand new and not defective) a third rim and tire with no attached hand rim, and have to remember to have it on hand when getting to the bowling alley.

You make it look so easy. My nephew (bodybuilder) and I tried putting on a new Spox brand tire on my 25" Spinergy rims. At the time, my forearms were very strong. I held the tire at two spots in place of the zip ties. Even with two beefy screwdrivers, we struggled to get the solid tire which we had soaked in hot water first to soften up the rubber. We got it on eventually but we both strained our forearms and were exhausted. I ended up taking it to a tire shop and they somehow got the second tire on buy severely scratched up my rims. What are those beefy looking tires with the tread? Those look like they would be good in the snow. (I live in Canada.)

Thanks for the video. I have some questions. The tire you put on was about the same size as the rim. What if like in another video the tire is to stretch to 24 inches but is only 18 inches, will this method still work? What brand of lever do you recommend? All levers are not the same. Lastly, do you have any other information on wheelchair repair? The little spacers between the grip and tire are always coming loose or falling out on my chair.

Hi RGO, the tyres have an internal cord that will prevent them stretching too far over sized. An 18" is unlikely to stretch onto a 24" wheel. The lever I use is a smooth surface lever with rounded edges, I don't have any brand identifiable on it. For your handrims, if they are constantly coming loose there are a number of possible factors. Poor hardware, bent or buckled handrims or wheels. You might try thread lock on your hardware.

Does not work on new tires. New tires are stiff and many inches smaller.
