Peter Brock "On it" at Bathurst (Tooheys 1000 Top 10 Shootout 1991) Rare HQ

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This is one of my favorite KZread videos but they are all low quality. I managed to get hold of the original VHS and here it is in the best quality I can get. Awesome 'on the limit' driving from Peter Brock in the 1991 Tooheys 1000 Top 10 Shootout.

Man the 90’s cars were raw… Running rich, flames, backfires, loud As F… The handling wasn’t quite there either, I forgot how lively they were at speed compared to todays V8 Supercars. That was insane through the chase! Great video!

There's been so many good drivers who have battled this mountain over the years, but this is one of those tracks that just has an almost spritual effect on people. The TV footage really doesn't do it justice, it is just unbelievable how fast these guys are around there, and how little room there is for error on most of the track. If you ever go to Mount Panorama and see the track for yourself it just blows you away. But the good thing about a track like this is it hasn't really changed at all in it's history (the turns at the end of Conrod straight are a modern addition from the earlier version), and because there is a lot of footage of races we can easily compare different generations of racecars. But whether it's old laps of Brocky in an boat of a Commodore at 11/10ths, or Murphy or McLaughlin in more modern cars but still wringing the thing's neck, they're all just as good to watch and leave you just shaking your head. And that's just one track 😆

One of the most exciting laps of Bathurst ever. It still manages to give me shock-horror over the top of the mountain sequence. I met Peter at the Auckland airport; we were on the same flight to Wellington where he raced the Wellington Street Race. Thoroughly interesting and warm human being, it was no trouble to stop and share a little about motor racing.

Joe Shabidu, mine is a VP 1992. The one racing above is a VN SS. The model was called the SS5000 I think. I had a VN SS 5000 as a work vehicle. My NV was stock. The VN V6 came out in 1988 and the V8 came out in 1990. I have owned a lot of Holdens. The one that I love the most was my 1985 VK Calais Director - Fully work and stroked into a 5700. My wife took it shopping and some low life stole from the Macquarie Shopping Centre at Ryde (now Called Macquarie).

For future uploads, even if the original content is lower resolution, upscale it in Adobe Premiere Pro to 1440p (minimum), upload that version and the final result will be much nicer.

Dave, yes, they are awesome beasts. I've been fortunate enough to spend 100s of hours driving something similar, a more modern day Holden Commodore race car. They are the Middle-East variety, not as advanced as the modern Aussie cars but all the better for it. I do High Speed passenger rides for a company called The Racing School and we use them for that. There is also lots of videos on my channel from the Middle-East Championship.

great footage , I was fan of Brock since the L34 days , I think this shows Peak Brock , sadly not long after this his pace started to fall away which is only to be expected as one ages and reflexes slow . By the time the VR/VS days arrived he was still quick but didnt take the risks . I just wish once retired he stayed that way. The VX comeback was embarrassing . But he was a huge part of aussie motorsport . I loved touring car racing for years but havent followed for the last 5 or so years , maybe its because I have grown older too but the current series is a joke . Too bad ......
