I honestly love Peter B. Parker's character, he's probably the most realistic depiction of a real life person as a superhero Sure it's great at the beginning, you get to save people and fight villains, but at the same time the saving and the fighting becomes a cycle you feel obligated to be a part of because, he's a hero, he has to. Eventually he's just tired both physically and mentally, the whole weight of every mistake he's done weighing him down before Miles comes to give him hope

  • @thespider8654

Well that's the point of Spider-Man. The real life depection of a person suddenly got superpowers in life. Why you think he's just spectacle? This is literally the first thing I said, when I first started to get into his comics, thats he's probably the most realistic and a very complex fictional character I have ever seen. This character btw changed my life, I am who I am because of him.

The Spider The point of Spider-Man is that he’s willing to give his life to save a total stranger. But what nobody told him is that being a superhero doesn’t just sacrifice himself but puts a strain on those around him. He spends some much time being selfless he forgot how to be selfish. He forgot that it’s totally okay to want to take a break and put your own life above others. That’s why Peter’s life is a wreck. Because he puts no effort into actually managing it alongside his hero work.

Sam Raimi's Spider-man 2 has a more realistic depiction of a real life person as a superhero than Peter B. Parker, simply because we see more of Peter struggles between him and being Spider-man.

man when he says 'well, i am tired' it just encapsulates what his character's all about, at that moment, being spiderman was all he had, he had no home, no wife, no money and barely any clothes, you could really tell that he just wanted to go home, but of course, being spiderman is never an easy or straight road, and he is well aware of that, which amplifies how his character is depressed, god this is my favourite version of Peter

But dude the comics already exists he's suppose to be our dimensions Spiderman and the events of this movie take place after the issue where he gets divorced and ends with him going to try and get her back basically this movie was rewriting some wrong things in the comics so things would make more sense for all of those Spidermen in the movie and the sequel is gonna continue doing that until it reaches the point where they've successfully fixed the wrong things in the comics and connected it back to the comics but anyway point is we already know him extremely well also fun fact the B stands for Benjamin you know like uncle Benjamin AKA uncle Ben yeah that's his full name Peter Benjamin Parker but after uncle Ben died he started calling himself Peter B. Parker whenever he said his full name because if he said Peter Benjamin Parker it would just remind him of what happened that night and he's already haunted by the with great power comes great responsibility thing.

I get the feeling he only stuck to it because he literally had nothing left in his life outside of being Spider-Man. Peter always had this conflict between being a superhero and still having time for family/romance etc and usually when there was an inbalance of once side it started to take its tole. He gives up on Spider-Man and other people suffer for it but if he is Spider-Man 100% of the time he suffers for it. This version of Peter had no more studying, Aunt May or MJ to devote his life to anymore so kept the superhero thing going as that was all he had left, and that alone wasn't great. Hell chances are him and MJ split because of the superhero stuff being too much for him to be a father or he feared having more people in his life villains could attack but he invested so much time into it that backing out now AFTER the divorce would make it all pointless.

I love the detail that even the “perfect” Peter Parker at the beginning of the movie says “I’m so tired.” While fighting the prowler. Spider-Man is always tired. His pursuit to keep New York safe never gives him enough time to rest and I love that. That’s when I knew that this movie understood the character of Spider-Man. Also it’s incredibly relatable. Working so hard constantly has me saying the same thing as Peter.

Peter B. is a great representation of jaded optimism that comes with a dreamer spending too long in the real world. Suffering from clinical depression myself, Peter in the first half of the movie means so much to me, but having been on medication for the last 2 years I'm on a path where I can say I'm him at the end of the movie. With all the doubts and fear that come with being a human being, I can still do it. And you can too. This video? Not bad, kid.

I actually think that Peter b Parker's story is more powerful when compared to the spider man we see at the start (that does) that first spider man is young, and more enthusiastic about his job. He even says to miles that "I'm so tired" but compared to the older, more experienced Peter is the next step after this youthful enthusiasm. Anyway, love the video.

It’s interesting that people associate youth so much with Peter Parker nowadays, even though quite ironically, the character’s original dynamic was a teen forced into a position where he matured almost TOO fast. This feels more like an extension of Dikto Peter more than any adaption in the past, save for surprisingly TNAS (I’d love to discuss why that is haha). As much of a golden age the Romita era was, people’s, and most importantly creator’s, nostalgia for it has left one of the original intents of the character to the wayside. Romita’s influence over the book made major strides for the character (and most importantly the cast!), but by the way the books were written in that time (artist first, then writer), there was a huge disconnect between their personalities. I love the fun-loving, overtly youthful Spidey too, but that’s not really a reflection of Peter at all, or at least not on the surface: it’s a facade. Peter Parker’s default has always been the misunderstood genius with a chip on his shoulder. It’s just that his responsibilities reshaped his actions, not necessarily his mentality. When that sense of purpose and responsibility starts to wear with experience and age, we would see a return to form of sorts, and that is no better reflected in Peter B. Parker.

Gwen for learning how to open up to others. And, yeah those are the only three I can relate to, but how bout u guys come up with something for the other three.

I quite often have difficulty reading deeper into the storytelling of films, despite myself being in school and learning about just that. Despite that however, almost every single time I watch that scene with him and Aunt May, I almost always tear up alongside it. The only way I could chalk it up to was recognizing the grief between both Peter and May in that moment, and while that's still powerful, I knew that there was so much more happening there that I just couldn't recognize on my own. I always find myself enthralled and wanting to watch this movie all over again anytime I see even just a few seconds of it, and I love being able to use it more and more to try and better understand the craft I hope to one day do.

I believe there's a Spider-man for all of us, that resonates with us because they encapsulate what we view of the character and what we view of ourselves, mine is MCU Spider-man, because I'm constantly surrounded by big expectations and being reminded that I can do a lot better if I put my mind to it, that I always doubt myself of being capable of doing something, so whenever I see MCU Spider-man getting back up to fight one more time, it fills me with hope that I can do that too. As well as that, I have friends who make me feel happy and relieved, a bully who puts me in the spotlight to make me feel uncomfortable, a mother who can make me cringe at times but acts like a sister when I need her and who supports me every step of the way, and a mentor who is a teacher at my high school, that helped me find my calling in film, storytelling and helped me see not just the values on stories, but the value on myself. I hope you're feeling better and that looking up to this Spider-man has lifted you up as much as MCU Spider-man does to me, we are reminded that we do not struggle alone and that no matter how we feel, for the sake of our lives we always have to get back up

They both feel so alive and real, between Peter B's constant dry whit and tiredness and game Peter's constant pull between his life as Spidey and his chance to live a normal life and save those he loves. They are both, in my opinion, the greatest and most accurate versions of Spidey we've ever seen, including almost all comic versions.

I find the use of Peter B's gut an actually incredible aspect to his visual design in retrospect. As anyone's probably noticed, the gut disappears whenever Peter goes full Spidey-Suit, but thematically, that represents the whole pathos of his character. Peter B is great, even apex in the Spider-Manning, and a slobbish, downtrodden man when trying to be Peter Parker. Even though it's likely a joke scene, I think it poignant that Peter takes his sad shower in the suit. Spider-Man has literally become Peter B's escape from the world. Escape from improvement, escape from facing the demons that plague his life. It's his literal mask, his literal distancing from his normal life by embracing the Spider identity, even when as we're shown in his montage, he isn't doing any hero work. So, it stands to thematic reason that the gut vanishes while Peter becomes Spider Man, because it's his literal escape from the failures of his life, personified by his declining health and physique. And of course all the struggles and cynicism return once the mask is lifted again.
