If you just met these guys in the pub you’d think they were just regular nice blokes. They come across as shy, polite and well spoken. You’d have no idea at all that they had such extraordinary musical imaginations.

I am a 20 year old gen z girl, late to the party. I wouldn't say I was "born too late", though, there is something magical about discovering all of the stuff older than me, an entire different generation, it sometimes feels like I'm there. It's a shame I can't find friends that would enjoy it with me though! Both Mick Karn and Peter Murphy have that mysterious, almost mystical aura about them, and their dark music is a one of a kind experience. Rip Mick Karn, I couldn't discover you earlier

The two coolest dudes ever. When the New Romantic and Goth/Batcave worlds finally met... It's clear they influenced each other heavily even after Dali's Car broke up. Peter Murphy began to take from more world music and avant-garde influences, culminating finally on Deep. Mick Karn was affected by Peter's dark, dramatic, gothic energy, culminating on Dreams of Reason Produces Monsters. This is literally the band I would go back in time to create (thank goodness it happened anyway, so I don't have to do that).

And Bauhaus didn't see themselves as Goth, they saw themselves as "dark glam". It's more a comment on aesthetic than musical sound. Actually Japan did the look and the "sophistipop" sound on Quiet Life before the Blitz Kids made it big.

I always say you're not a true Goth unless you sacked Rome. It's absolutely true that they were dark Glam; back in my black and fuchsia Mohawk days-40 years ago-we did not call ourselves Goth. Minimally we were punk but we were very dark. So darkglam/darkwave aptly suited us. We were absolute anarchists, defying convention, norms, etc...the Gen Z who ask me now let me see a pic of your hair back then. I reply, believe it not, NONE of us were walking around with a camera in our pocket. We eschewed all forms of capture.

Oh yes he was absolutely yummy but if you look at his solo work in the late 80s and early 90s look at some videos like cuts you up and Indigo eyes and all night long he absolutely clicked in his presence if you know what I mean he was his most beautiful in his mid-thirties the most true to himself and his persona. He's a beautiful man at any age but there's something about his mid-thirties that I don't know about you but it does it for me!

A ha... Besides the joy of listening to this great sound, and the mid 80's style video... I notice one of the locations in Malta is the big old place they used to film the prison exterior courtyard in Midnight Express. Which, although a great movie, was so greasy with negative/anti-Turkish stereotypes as to make my donner kebab seem like Lamb Jerky in comparison. They were such an intersting duo in that post new romantic scene. It almost makes me want to break out the eye shadow again. Super stuff... xxx :-)
