One thing I really like about Gretsch is how they keep just "Gretsch" on the headstock no matter what the price point is. They don't have some other brand they use for the cheaper guitars. It's like they're proud of every guitar they make. What's also nice about this is when you own one you can still tell people you play a Gretsch. All they will see is a Gretsch. You don't have to go "Oh I only have the Epiphone." or "Oh I just have the Squier."

With most guitars, the lower the price, the lower the quality. With Gretsch, the lower the price, the fewer the features. I have an Electromatic Jet Club that has 2 Dual-Coil humbuckers, 3 way switch in the Les Paul position, one volume knob in the traditional position and one tone knob in the traditional position. It's as nice as some $1000+ guitars I have played. It is stripped down, simple and no-nonsense. It's a great guitar.

@@KevinJDildonik epiphone was it’s own company but Gibson acquired it and now uses it as a cheaper non USA made alternative, at this point it is a “knock off gibson” if u wanna call it that but yes they also make a USA made version of their original guitar they made before Gibson bought them out which is just as good as Gibson guitars

No worries, talk on I say it’s always good times! That’s probably the reason half of us watch is the bro hangs and chit chats? Talking gear and hanging should always take more than 15 minutes!
The P-90 derived its name from a Gibson internal PU90 reference.

Never really looked at Gretsch until a Electomatic Jet caught my eye. Bought it two years ago and never looked back. Utterly amazing company and even though I have newer guitars that are double the price, I still come back to it. There's just something about that Gretsch pickup sound.
I bought the stain colored and love it, but that green is so cool looking.
Those guitars sound fabulous. I'm honestly very impressed. Wow.
Pete’s always been amazing. Cap’n keeps getting better and better. I’ve had my eye on this guitar. Thanks for the show.
You guys are amazing. A blast of an intro jam....!!! Rock on guys!!!
I bought the one in the color Lee is playing last month, and I can say it's my favorite guitar. The pickups ( both) are absolutely clear - no mud, it's comfortable to play, and stays in tune all day. Recommended!

I just bought the Sahara Metallic and I’m in love with it!!! It beats the pants off my old Gibson Les Paul Faded!!! It has so much more tone range! I’m a student at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Online and this guitar will take me far. I’ve been playing my Fender Telecaster Highway One. But I now have this one to turn to as well as a go to guitar! This is better than a Gibson Gold Top and a fraction of the price!

I've watched a lot of review videos in my life, but the casualness of this one makes it stand out so much. I love the random little chats about packaging and favorite color and whatever. It's just informative while keeping it light and fun, and not just hitting us with basically "here's the spec sheet, and this is what it sounds like, cool have a good day" lol
Pete fearlessly bringing out the tools is very cool! it took me years before i adjusted my guitar's screws on my own, but it isnt a big deal. for new guitarists, it really is this easy!

Bought one of these (G2215) a couple of weeks ago. Absolutely love it! Also bought a G5520 a couple of months ago. Both sound fantastic and play like a dream!

Having watched andertons from the beginning, honestly cappy's playing has improved my such a drastic amount! Honestly he's amazing! Id love to meet him n pete, they seem like people you could learn so much from and have such a good laugh with! Best guitarist videos on the web!
I just unboxed one for my store. And I have to agree the packaging is amazing I particularly liked the foil hat that it had over the headstock. Good work Gretsch . And yes I’ve been in retail too long!
I bought one today and it's already my favourite guitar!
They sound like excellent guitars. Almost purchased one. But got an epiphone 2020 , 60s Les Paul standard instead. But hearing you play those. They're really nice! I'm still glad I picked the Les Paul, but it was almost twice as much. These manufacturers are making excellent products.! Thank you gentlemen!
These play so nice. The sound is very unique.
Just picked up one of these and I love it.
What an awesome combination of pickups! Love Gretsch!
Captain, that may have been your best jam yet, good chemistry with Pete.

That thing sings! I got one for my birthday last year and it is a total blast. I use it with a DOD250 in front of my Hotrod Deluxe and it's a serieous Rock-Machine! The P90 is also awesome.
Capitan! Your playing has improved by the bunches! Love the show guys.
I put humbucker-sized p90s in my G2210, and it's easily become one of my favourite guitars hands down. Not a surprise that they added a p90 version to the lineup. It's a natural fit for this guitar, but they should have just put one in the bridge too. Would give the Gibson Special a run for its money.
Ordered the mint green ... it arrives at my LGS and the tech calls me up and is so stoked about the quality and sound that he just can't shut up about it!! Picking it up tomorrow morning. 🙂
Played one of these through an Orange CR60C earlier today. I picked up the amp. LOVED the P90 neck sound, not as convinced with the bridge pickup, but still considering picking up the guitar.
I have a Gretsch G2210 Streamliner JR JET Club Guitar in Vintage White and it's a fantastic guitar, now I'm hankering after one of these in the Gold finish !! :)
Well this video absolutely sold me on this one, that's a sure buy. And damn, you guys make nice videos! love the chats. Keep it up!
I just got the mint one in the mail awhile ago. Played almost perfectly right out of the box, well intonated and everything. Had to adjust the pickup heights (because of the volume difference) and the action a tiny bit but that's to taste anyway. I can't believe it's a $350 guitar. The p90 does have a really noticeable amount more bass than the bridge but that doesn't bother me hugely.

I have the Gretsch you guys are playing. All I can say is. Gretsch got it right. You can play it all on this guitar. I play mostly country, roclabilly and gospel music. Plays it great.
Man I love a good hum in the bridge, P90 in the neck pup setup. My RD Artisan is set up that way with Gibson pups and it's the best of both worlds.
One of your best.....and great guitars.
Nice jam. Captain sounding really good. You too Pete.
Looks like a great entry option from Gretsch amazing what us being done for 400 bucks with these and fender classic vibe at these prices you can just get one and not stress about it.
I got one of the Mint Green Metallic ones yesterday from a U.S. retailer (I'm from the U.S.). I can attest to the unique and effective packaging. It arrived in the original box. It fit in there as snug as a bug in a rug. Mine needed a few minor adjustments, which can be expected. The fretwork is very good, with only a couple of sharp fret ends higher up on the treble side of the neck. It is a fun guitar to play. It's my first Gretsch, and I'm very happy with it.
Lol! Great video This guitar sounds terrific, and your playing over the top:)

I am going to concur with Pete on the packaging. I like to see some respect for the product. Like using both hands to receive something from a Japanese. Respect.
Please don’t shorten the videos. I enjoy all the little thoughts, side comments, and transitions from one item to the next. It’s how ALL guitar players and friends go back and forth about gear. I feel like I’m missing out when the videos are shorter. I recommend you trash that New Years resolution and instead set a new goal for each video to be a minimum time of 20 min long.
That outro was awesome guys 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Just ordered one of these. Got the two broadtron version though, really liked the bt in the neck.
Great video and an amazing jam guys! Something about these makes me thing that Rabea with some heavier strings and tone (no, I don't mean from the strings, but from his board) would make some great music with this.
Played one at guitar center, saw the price and brought it home.
Pete: You were almost right. In danish it's called "det periodiske system" - hence "system" was your key word :-)
I just ordered one brand new for $240! Really excited for it to arrive.
You do know we love the banter right :D ... as much as the jams.
Awesome,! TVJones Magna'Tron on that bridge position and ready to go!
I was able to purchase a Gibson Soapbar Cream Colored P90 pickup for the neck replacement on my Les Paul Standard. I'm keeping the Bridge Burstbucker. I'm looking forward to having it installed. P90's are an interesting sound, for humbucker equipped guitars. I can't wait to check out how it'll change the tone on my Les Paul. Cheers boys!
According to the internet, P-90 comes from the Gibson internal code for the pickup "PU90".
11:21 Pickup designer Walt Fuller at Gibson re-worked one variation of the earlier Gibson P-13 pickup and liked the 90th prototype that he made and the production pickup was named P-90 for Pickup 90th.
Awesome. Thankyou. Love Gretsch Guitars. Such amazing sound and such a Joy to play. Cheers

After that height adjustment, that 50/50 Hum/P-90 mix was PRIMO! Question: How do you like it vs the Epi LP Special with 2 P-90s? Thx.

For overdriven Gretsch sounds, I always think of Pete Townshend. Mainly used a Gretsch 6120 given to him by Joe Walsh on the Who albums, certainly all over Who's Next. Didn't see a lot of live work because of tuning stability (and fragility), but certainly the culprit for Pete's tone on all of the big albums.
