Well, Pete's a comic and former cast member (first and, so far, only one born in the 1990s and the youngest former cast member to come back and host and one in a handful of hosts who originally was supposed to host an episode during a season that was cut short because of a writer's strike). That makes it better.

Pete was supposed to host during the last three episodes of season 48 (last season), but that was also when the WGA (Writers Guild of America) went on strike, so season 48 ended with the Ana de Armas episode. What's worse is that we also lost out on Kieran Culkin coming back to host and Jennifer Coolidge hosting for the first time (unless Lorne is currently trying to find spaces for these two to host).

Despite the uneasy topics and turns of events, Davidson wove one of the most mesmerizing, authentic. morbidly humorous and believable personal anecdotes I have ever heard. Truth is stranger, and funnier, than scripted comedy. Brilliant. I've never seen him shine brighter.
