Pete Davidson on Jon Stewart | 2022 Mark Twain Prize

Ойын-сауық

www.kennedy-center.org/whats-...
Commenting on the prize, Stewart said, “I am truly honored to receive this award. I have long admired and been influenced by the work of Mark Twain, or, as he was known by his given name, Samuel Leibowitz.”
“For more than three decades, Jon Stewart has brightened our lives and challenged our minds as he delivers current events and social satire with his trademark wit and wisdom. For me, tuning into his television programs over the years has always been equal parts entertainment and truth”
- Deborah F. Rutter, Kennedy Center President
The Mark Twain Prize for American Humor recognizes individuals who have had an impact on American society in ways similar to the distinguished 19th-century novelist and essayist Samuel Clemens, best known as Mark Twain. As a social commentator, satirist, and creator of characters, Clemens was a fearless observer of society, who startled many while delighting and informing many more with his uncompromising perspective on social injustice and personal folly.
As a recipient of the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor, Stewart received a copy of an 1884 bronze portrait bust of Mark Twain sculpted by Karl Gerhardt (1853-1940). Previous recipients can be seen by scrolling down this page.
Capital One® is the Presenting Sponsor of this year’s Kennedy Center Mark Twain Prize for American Humor as part of the bank’s three-year, $3 million gift to fund Comedy at the Kennedy Center, a signature program at the Center focused on elevating comedy as an art form and uniting the community through laughter.
The 23rd Mark Twain Prize for American Humor is under the direction of the creative team from Done + Dusted, the Kennedy Center’s producing partner for the Mark Twain Prize since 2018. This year’s ceremony marks the 23rd year that the Kennedy Center’s marquee comedy award will be broadcast nationally.
The event was created by the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Bob Kaminsky, Peter Kaminsky, Mark Krantz, and John Schreiber. The Kennedy Center is grateful to Cappy McGarr for his steadfast support of the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor since its inception in 1998.

@ Chris Trevino was THAT supposed to be funny? Your lack of self awareness is astounding in that it would lead you to think that Pete Davidson is not funny but that in your mind you are. Truly funny people are quick witted and can instantly come up with hilarious things to say because timing is everything when it comes to comedy and if that was the best you could come up with after having all the time you needed before typing and posting it then you should really not be judging anyone else on their level of comedy talent. I would rate Carrot Top at bottom of the barrel and after seeing what you came up with after hours or days of working tirelessly or perhaps weeks of trying to come up with something funny you would rate about buried 3 feet deep in the pile of bullshit that the barrel is sitting on. You need to learn to judge yourself fairly so you will know when you might be able to critisize someone else without completely humiliating yourself and when you should just STFU!

@@mc1993 That's not why he gets attention. He gets attention because he's a skilled comedian who's really, really good at networking and maintaining his relevance. The death of his father is a significant part of his story and probably one of the things that initially made him stand out, but it's not the primary reason why he's still relevant after years of working. "But I get it, in your generation everyone gets a trophy, no matter how meager the effort or ability. You put the special in special." You sound very jealous of someone younger and more talented than you getting ahead in life. Again, the death of his father is NOT why he's more successful in life than you, that's just your envy speaking. I don't even like the guy, but to attribute his success to nothing more than his father's death just seems like a pathetic coping mechanism.

@ Paul Reed watch any appearance on Weekend Update or him and Kevin Hart helping a family move. Pete has his own style and approach to comedy with self deprecation and ability to laugh at himself and his problems/situations which to me shows true insight and sense of humor. I guess those of us who understand that and have a sense of humor are able to laugh at ourselves. Then there are those who take themselves too seriously and have no sense of humor so real humor goes right over their heads. Maybe you should go check out jim breuer you would probably love that humorless no talent hack
