Awesome demo sir.... Any chance you could compare this aginst the modern cali 76 or the stacked version? I saw the demo you did with the old version but that is very diferent from the new smaller one. Since both the Cornish and Cali 76 have "blend" knob I'd like to know if they achive the same level of transparency, so I can figure out if it's worth to pay extra for the OC-1

Those are completely different compressors. The OC1 is a optical compressor, the cali76 is a FET compressor. For guitarists, that might be a rabbit hole, but for recording engineers it’s easier to understand. Anyway - point is, they are just completely different types of compressors, and you can’t really use one to achieve what the other does.

Boss CS 2. The Cornish stays on all the time. No dynamics, cap across side chain DC stays charged all the time.

Blend is backwards from most comps. Most of them have 10 as fully compressed signal with 0 being the lowest amount of compressed signal. Or maybe you just said it wrong?

David D blend on 10 is full dry signal. Blend on 1 is full compressed signal

I wouldnt bother!

I'll take a Keeley compressor anytime.
