This demo has some of the best guitar tones I've ever heard. I had to buy an OC -1 after repeated visits to this demo and it is simply magical. It adds something difficult to describe but totally addictive. I love it.

Simon I always enjoy your demos! I own a CC-1, SS-3, G-2, and LD-3. I have an Effectrode PC-2A compressor and as much as I love it Pete's stuff (at least what I've tried) is always the best. Thinking about an OC-1 now. I've played a lot of pedals, Pete's just sound right... I'm not wealthy either. Each one was an investment but worth every penny and that's saying a lot.

Hi Casey. Thanks a lot. I am glad you like my demo work - I enjoy making these demos especially when it comes to Pete´s amazing pedals. So much quality going into each product. I know what you are saying, they are pretty expensive but like you say, worth the money. This compressor is very very good if you want a transparent comp, I don´t think there is any better (I have not found one at least). If you are into color like the old DynaComp, that´s a different game. I think the Effectrode stuff is great too actually, but I have not tried the comp, so I can´t really compare the two. I just knew when I saw this OC-1 that I had to have it :-) Cheers

Beautiful demo, as always. The new Cornish small box pedals are fantastic. Wish I could afford even one. The new compressor really shines on your Rahbek.

Thanks man. I agree, the "small" box pedals are good for the size of my pedalboard. The grey Series are huge :-) it is great to play with these toys

Hey there Simon, great playing, and great demo. Many thanks. 😊 Can I ask how you'd compare this pedal to the new Cali76 Compact Deluxe?

  • @SimonGotthelfMusic

Thank you :) They are very different. This pedal is totally transparent - not like anything else I have tried. Even when used only as a boost it sounds and feels fantastic. The cali76 is very 1176 comp in a box and also great but it gives a lot more colour to your sound -sometimes that is what you want, sometimes not. I have this OC-1 on my main board and the Cali76 on my smaller board...

Have you compared this to either the effectrode pc2a or Cali76? I know the cali isn't an optical compressor, but I'm familiar with it so just wondering how they differ

MrBingping Hi 😊 yes I have compared it to the Cali76 since I use both a lot. The PC2a I have not tried yet. Cali76 and OC-1 are very different and both great. Cali is colour and OC-1 is transparent - just two completely different studio type compressors. The OC-1 sounds uncompressed while adding sustain. Cali is warm and very 1176. Check out my Origin demos too. Cheers

Hi Simon, I am having a hard time deciding on this comp. I would like to know if it makes the clean signal much bigger, not sure what to ask, sure like the sound your getting. Is it worth the difference? I have found that the cornish pedals allow you to gently come into your solo where most of the other boutique stuff is in and on, meaning the cornish sound good while picked gently. Can you show the difference between on and off. Thank you.

William Stewart Hi William. well it is definitely the kind of pedal you are describing. it is very sensitive and it will not squash your sound. The sound is bigger with the pedal on for sure. It is very sensitive to pick attack. For me it is worth it. Also because it works with both my strats and my les pauls. Cheers

The OC-1 sounds fantastic. Might need one:) Kind of wanted to get your opinion on the CC-1 actually; I can't decide if I should order this- I currently have the G-2, SS-2, P-2 & ST-2. Do you find that the CC-1 gives you a noticeably different feel/tone than say the G2 or SS-2/SS-3 boxes? I understand it's not a high gain pedal. Sounds great in this demo & I'll probably grab one, but any input you have would be appreciated as well. THANX!

Hi. Thanks for your words about my videos. The CC-1 is my favorite Cornish pedal, and it is totally different than the G2 (that I also really like and use a lot). It is kind of similar to the SS-3 when it comes to gain but they are voiced differently. The SS-3 is more of a midrange pedal to my ears. The CC-1 sounds natural like you are just adding ekstra gain boost, overdrive or eq to your sound. That is why I always end up using the CC-1 because it improves my sound no matter if I use it clean or dirty. And it is quiet too…You are pretty well covered with your pedals already I can tell, but to med the CC-1 is just special. Cheers

Simon Gotthelf Gear Demos Man! You were not kidding. This CC-1 is incredible. Not only do I think I like it better than the G-2 & SS-2, but it sounds so good on it's own, I don't even really need the ST-2 on. And it's SO quiet. I'm using a Tele at the moment & it's just as quiet as anything with humbuckers in it. Thanks for the tip;)

shockcityrocker Hey guys, how would you compare the CC-1 to say a timmy? Is it really that much better? I have a lazy j 20 tweed deluxe amp and love it's dirt. I love creamy, solid, non scooped, edge of fuzzy high gain which I know my amp can deliver, and between my timmy, lazy j cruiser, caroline haymaker, vemuram 4k, chase tone fuzz face, and a gazillion other pedals I got rid of, I have found my amp to work best with a booster, namely the lazy j cruiser or haymaker. Problem is the cruiser doesn't have eq and the timmy sounds just a bit harsh in the upper mids. Will the cc-1 give me a similar amount of gain as a timmy so I can really push the amp? How bassy can you dial it in? From shnobel's videos, who sadly always plays with a fairly scooped sounding setup, I'm wondering if the pedal has enough mids and bass on it's dials.. Cheers

You can get a similar amount of gain from the two pedals but I think that´s the only similarity between the two. The CC probably has more clean volume boost and the tonecontrols can push the amp as well. The CC is not enhancing any freq but of course you can cut or boost bass, mid and highs with the knobs. This pedal will not change you basic tone, only drive and push it, that is why I like it

Hi Simon, they are all great pedal, but I think the Blend on you setting maybe too high to kill all attack that really nicely generated by the OC-1. Thanks.

because I am not comparing it to pedals. I am comparing it to a 2k rack mount and it is just as good for guitar purposes. We are talking Pete Cornish. The guy who hand makes and has hand made this since Paul McCartney used them and David Gilmore and Brian May Ect. This guy is the best the industry has and still hand makes all of these. Go buy your boss pedal but you are buying a toy. Pete Cornish is legendary and only he touches these boards. These are professional instruments ready to sit around 100k plus studio to be used and cherished. All your 200 dollar mass produced piece of Garbage's will never see the inside of such a studio.

Franz FRanze lmfao, Cornish stuff is great but that's a ridiculous comment. Gilmour has used tons of other pedals. In fact he's replaced all his Cornish pedals. Pretending that Cornish is the only one making quality stuff is absurd and ignorant
