Welcome to my channel! This is a music reaction channel. For the longest time, I've loved creating content on the internet. I started off with a gaming channel right here on KZread, which eventually turned into a Twitch gaming channel, but as time has gone on I've evolved into doing other things on KZread. For years now I've wanted to create a music channel on KZread, and recently just figured "why not?", so it’s time to give this a go! Give me any suggestion you have for music reactions, and I will do my best to get around to them. As music has fallen further out of my life, I figured this would be a great time to get reintroduced to music.
If you enjoy this video and my reactions make sure you subscribe to the channel, like the video and comment down below which video you would like to see me react to next.
This is a reaction video used to educate and give my feedback on the song and artists.

"West End Girls". A song where the Bass line dominates. True 80's techno pop.

Synth Pop, Techno Pop, whatever.
This is about London, where the East End is the poorer side of the city and traditionally home to the working classes, as opposed to the West End, which is the more exclusive part of the city.

Never really thought about it, but how does that square with Dire Straits' "wild west end"? That song always made me think the west end was the seedier part of town. Or maybe they're talking about different cities (what do I know? All English cities in songs are London)?
London's West End and East End used to represent class divides. When London had poorer sanitation, the prevailing winds used to blow the stench towards the east where the poorer workers lived. The west was more salubrious, with many expensive areas and large areas of parkland. With recent gentrification, however, even the east has now become more sought after, but that was after the Pet Shop Boys wrote the song. They had a whole string of hits including "Rent" and "It's a Sin", plus notable collaborations with Dusty Springfield and Liza Minelli. Neil Tennant always sang in this cool somewhat detached way which became a trade mark, even when the lyrics suggested otherwise.
I grew up in a small town in Texas and that's where I lived when this came out. I was only able to hear alternative music then on a radio show out of Dallas called the Rock and Roll Alternative, hosted by George GiMarc. He went to England on his vacations to bring back alternative music for his show. That year, he came back with this. He opened his show with it and said he'd never play it again because in a week everybody will be playing it. And he was right. Good reaction here.
Killer bass line throughout.
It's talking about boys from the working class East End of London going clubbing in the upmarket West End, hoping to attract West End girls
Pet Shop Boys are the biggest selling duo in UK history and as you mentioned, still going strong today. Their catalog is massive and excellent. Check out next: What Have I Done to Deserve This, It's a Sin, Domino Dancing, Love Comes Quickly, It's Alright (extended mix, it's amazing!), Love Etc., Beautiful People, I can go on and on!!!

Ya they are not sure how because Tears For Fears have a wayyyy deeper catalog and way more hits, I'm not saying your not right because you are but quite astonished by that!

I'm a huge Tears For Fears fan too. I'm guessing it's because PSB continued to put put out massive amounts of music and Kurt left TFF after the Sowing the Seeds album and only got back together recently. I absolutely love TFF as well, both are incredible!@@kevinl2578

@@kevinl2578 Tears for Fears weren’t a duo originally, which is why Pet Shop Boys is number one. And also, you’re wrong; the Pet Shop Boys catalogue is way-and I mean WAYYY-bigger than TfF’s. Once you start getting into the Pet Shop Boys, there’s no coming back… Trust me, they’re my favourite band.
It's A Sin and Suburbia are also worth a listen. Great lyrics, beautiful 80s synth pop
"Being Boring" is one of her best great reactions Mister
Yeah great memories! ♥️✨
Love Pet Shop Boys since the first single.
My last night in London, I took a cab 🚕 from the restaurant to my hotel and it was just like the end of this video. Ode to London 🇺🇸❤️🇬🇧💂🏻♂️
That takes me back - even been places that are in the video.
I really enjoy this song and group, some good memories, thanks Shawn for sharing this tune.
Was 17 in 1985 when this came out and was hanging up the dance clubs in California, when this song would play everyone rushed to the dance floor
Iconic. And they’re still going.
PERFECT 80's Song!! ❤
I was a south London boy who used to go “up west” to blag (pick up) the posh girls who liked a bit of rough. Happy happy days.
If you haven’t yet heard it the collaboration between The Pet Boys and Dusty Spingfield called What Have I Done to Deserve This is a must. She did another called It’s a Scandal.
The sound of the 80s. In the mid 80s health clubs and aerobics were a big deal. This song always played about 3/4 of the way through my 45-minute intensive aerobics class. We knew we were hitting our peak when Pet Shop Boys began blaring over the loudspeakers surrounding the room. Between the music, the sweat, the beat and the burn, you were definitely in the zone. Felt like you could go another hour. This song will always remind me of that. Good times.
The music in Britain 🇬🇧 in the 80s was Brilliant

Our people, our city, our culture. Wonderful times.
It was all about the MTV video back then. When the video hit big on MTV, sometimes there was a re-release. I will always LOVE this song. It’s such a groove. 💖
Fantastic reaction Shawn, glad you liked this😊😊

So many bops: Always on My Mind, Domino Dancing, It’s a Sin, Absolutely Fabulous, Left to My Own Devices,Go West, New York City Boy, Opportunities, What Have I Done to Deserve This.
East 17 also did a version of this song 1993. It was #11 in the UK, and charted reasonably well in several other countries.
I remember the 70's and early 80's the music was defined only by the radio stations that played it. We had country, rock, and oldies. We were in the infancy of the record stores because I remember buying 45s at Walgreens and 33s at K-Mart. The record stores needed a way to organize all the music so It was not chaos with all artist in alphabetical order. The basic 3 at first then mixed and then more defined. Santana in world beat and Rolling Stones in rock then country/rock(some girls) Classic(Beatles and Elvis, CCR) alternative(Rush, ELO, Styx) ect(Roy Clark, Glenn Campbell, Dolly) ect (Bing Crosby, Sammy Davis) ect. about this song: Corporate driven music was what we were given to choose from but this song came from the street with a low budget and hit it big. It was fresh and uninfluenced edgy and raw. Then they made it orchestrated dance pop with a music video and rereleased it.
good song 85 good. their anthology has mad club and radio hits
Great memories♥️♥️
It's a rabbit hole!
You should try reacting to ‘People Are People’ by Depeche Mode. You can’t be more industrial synth sound than this band in the 80’s.
What a great song! One of my favorites from the 1980s. Love Comes Quickly is another really good song by them.
*PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE* for True early 80's synth _mastery_ , check out *'YAZOO'* and their songs *'DONT GO'* and *'SITUATION'*

Their only full album that survives time is, Behaviour. The others sound dated.
