    Been a tech for almost 12 years. If you have good management and a competent scheduler it is a great field. Everything in this video I can agree with. I am about to start working on opening my own business as a one-man operation. It's a rewarding career being able to help people get rid of many things that bother or outright scare them.

    GOOD LUCK TRYING TO RUN IT HONESTLY & ACTUALLY GET & KEEP CUSTOMERS! PEST CONTROL IS A MAJOR SCAM & DOES NOT AT ALL "CONTROL PESTS"! WE ARE NOT GOD & CANNOT JUST SNAP OUR FINGERS & MAKE PESTS DISSAPEAR! IT IS 100% A TOTAL SCAM FOR GULLIBLE, LAZY PEOPLE THAT LACK THE ABILITY TO THINK FOR THEMSELVES! HOPE YOU ALL CAN LIVE WITH THE GUILT OF SCAMMING PEOPLE OUT OF THEIR MONEY.

    That sounds good what company do you work for I went to college for welding and that didn't work out it's a trade that's extremely overrated honestly most trades are they really talk college up in highschool like you make all this money but in reality most trades make an average salary 35k to 50k a year so 18 to 20$ an hour you literally go through two years of college to get out and make what most people who just went out and got a job and some training are making I'm thinking of becoming a pest control technician they seem to make about what I did welding and it just seems like most companies I hear of from people I know that do it like orkin or cooks really enjoy their job and the companies actually treat you like a human being instead of a number I just hope I can keep my Saturdays off

    Hi Chris, I really appreciate that you are having an honest and true dialogue about the technician job and revenues, I never thought some could make that kind of salary. The great majority of companies are spraying chemical and having some poison, I would have some questions; I do not climb in ladders or crawl under the houses, I have been doing trapping and catching rats, mice and squirrel on a small scale and would like to expand my territory, and possibility of increasing my income. I have been making my own traps and work fairly good, do you see any possibilities to greatly increase my revenues? Do you think I still need to go throw all the licenses and permits. Thanks for your help, Phil.

    27? I'm looking into getting into pest control (zero experience with it or even sales) and am interviewing with 5 different companies right now. One place was 10 for service and another 10 if you sold that service the same day, and another place was 15/15 but I wouldn't be making anything off reservice or customer no-pays. Is that a part of your 27 you mentioned or am I getting jipped? I have zero experience so I might be getting a lower rate

  • @krisshirley7508

    @krisshirley7508

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@AlexF-eh8yz yes we don’t make anything on reservices but our company doesn’t charge anything for a reservice. And from my understanding the company I work for has one of the highest percentages. 10 and 15 seem a little low tho but that may just be what those company’s pay. We still make our commission if a customer doesn’t pay but after 2 months of no pay from the customer and we go service them for the 3rd month then we don’t get paid.

    @@krisshirley7508 Interesting. Thank you for getting back to me. The 10/10 place basically guaranteed that every bit of work I did would get paid to me. The 15/15 place didn't have that guarantee and also expected me to collect on customers that weren't paying (before 90 days). I don't mind sales but I don't want to be door-to-door and I also don't want to pressure people to pay on behalf of a company. What part of the country are you and how long have you been doing it?

  • @krisshirley7508

    @krisshirley7508

    @@AlexF-eh8yz I’m in the lower southern states and been doing it for 6 months, we have to collect on our customers if they haven’t paid in 90 days but also the lady’s in the front office are calling them and trying to collect payments. Don’t feel pressured by collecting a payment, just let me know that the bill was behind and you want be able to perform any more services for them until they pay. The whole not getting paid thing if a customer doesn’t pay seems like a bummer because to be honest it seems like that happens a lot most customers wait 2-3 months before they decide to pay anyways. And to be honest 10-15 percent seems a little low compared to the average. Unless there smaller company’s mom and pap style I’d be expecting closer to 18-20 at least unless those are just starting percentages. At our company everyone starts at 27 and gets like half a percent a year raise and after 5 years it stops at 30.

    Hi thanks for taking the time in posting your video. I own a pest control company as well and was hoping I can get some feedback. For residential clients, how do you go about scheduling them and trying to keep them scheduled within same day for the same area they are located in. I’m finding myself having a challenge contacting clients one by one and once they confirm I start scheduling them in. The problem is, sometimes a client that’s in the same area as the others that confirmed, wants service for another day when I’m really not by their area. Just wanted to pick your brain and see how you go about with scheduling your residential clients. I normally treat both exterior and interior for my clients. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again

    It’s possible. But the key is to wash your work clothes at the end of every day, separately from all other laundry (ie, don’t wash the work clothes with the normal clothes) and if it’s a disposable PPE, you’re likely to incinerate that 😅
