Dettol is good for killing bed bugs! I used a solution of one part dettol and two parts water in a spray bottle and thoroughly sprayed my room several times over a period of a few weeks.

Ah yes the most British television series ever produced.

It doesn't do much to help an infestation to be honest. Not everyone has the money for new mattresses and if they do, they are better off waiting until the infestation has been eradicated as they will just infest the new mattress too. Infested mattresses should also be disposed of properly.

@C you have a great point, most people do spend unwisely. Instead of making a meal they go out and take the more more expensive option of fast food. I knew a family who would spend 200-300$ on fast food a month.

They're not just in the mattress though. Not everyone can afford to replace all the mattresses, these are probably lower income families and the local council is covering the cost of the extermination (don't think the council will cover the cost of buying new mattresses).

exactly! the fourth time or something hes had to come back to this family?? im not sure if its cheaper but id certainly prefer to buy a new mattress than have a pest controller come round every 5 minutes

@@madi7926 u do realise even if you get rid of the mattress the bed bugs are still in that room. So they will just come back as he said they live in tiny cracks and holes so yeah buy a new bed/mattress and see in a few days that they are back. You need to exterminate them all first

Wow that is fascinating though, that they have a tube that delivers anticoagulant to the host's blood. Nature is amazing.

I once dealt with a bedbug infestation, and it took 5 months to kill it off. Those little bloodsuckers are disgusting. I don't know how this guy gets this up close and personal with these bugs without freaking out, but he's a lot braver than me. I would've brought out the flamethrower after seeing that many. lol

I work in pest control in the US. It is interesting to see industry methods in other countries. The company I work for, and all others that I’m aware of, treat bed bugs for 3 visits spaced two weeks between each as standard.

Same here, we use vacuums more too. What I’m shocked at is him spraying down the mattress. We don’t use liquid chem on any surface commonly touched, especially not a mattress top where the tenant will have prolonged skin contact. At most, a dust. Curious what strong chemical he’s using

@@donaldowensiii7478 we do. We use crossfire which is specifically meant for surfaces that people come into contact with. But the stuff he’s using looks a bit suspicious 🤨

I had bed bugs before, a somewhat medium infestation, nothing too grim, and let me tell you...they were REALLY annoying. Every night I was itching, and every time I would wake up with an entire cluster of bumps on certain parts of my body, like my hands, my legs, and even my back. I went to school one day with a cluster on my arm, but I was clueless of it, and for some reason it didn't itch, so a delinquent called it out and everyone that was there in the moment saw it, which was like 4-5 people. 2 of them scorned and thought that I had some disease or allergic reaction, and literally took me to the Vice Principal, but luckily one girl managed to inform me on what was on my arm, because believe it or not, I only just a few years ago discovered the existence of bed bugs. How I got rid of them though is honestly questioning to me, I just washed my bed, washed my sheets constantly, cleaned my room as best as I could, and boom...They just completely disappeared.

They need to buy a new mattress and put a protective cover over it. Will help a lot.

Get rid of mattress. Sleep in a tent. The inner tent mesh. Bugs will struggle to get to you until pesticide kicks in. But actually when bugs are there I would keep out of room or even move discarding clothes furniture ect. Bed bugs are very hard to get rid of. You need extreme hygiene and constant cleaning of room ect.

In my opinion bed bugs are 100 times worst than cockroaches because bedbugs feed off you. cockroaches just eat crumbs that are left behind.

Bed bugs DO NOT usually go for cats and dogs. Especially if they have thick or longer fur.
