Peru's Rolex Case: Police Raids President Boluarte's House | Vantage with Palki Sharma
Peru's Rolex Case: Police Raids President Boluarte's House | Vantage with Palki Sharma
Peruvian police raided the President's house on Saturday. Twenty members of Peru's "Highly Complex Investigations" Division broke through the door of President Dina Boluarte's residence. They are investigating her in what's being called the "Rolex Case". A local media outlet in Peru went through thousands of pictures of Boluarte and concluded that she owns 14 luxury watches. Boluarte was an official in Peru's government record keeping office before becoming president. But she claims she saved money and bought her luxury watches over time. Is the Peruvian President corrupt, or is this a plan to oust her? Peru does have a legacy of prosecuting presidents.

So Peru seems to have an independent judicial system. That’s amazing. Congratulations.
Just a single hit got that door opened. That's a solid door protecting the President!

As a state employee, her monthly salary up to the day she became Vice President was 4500 Peruvian Soles, equal to U$ 1,210. As a Peruvian I can't help feeling so embarrased by these news presented by Palki Sharma. Dina Boluarte as all our previous presidents since year 2000, are, as Palki Sharma said, either in jail or waiting to be judged by corruption.

Good luck with that.
This case of Rolex watches and other jewels such as the very high-end Swiss Cartier that President Dina Boluarte owns only reflects the disastrous Peruvian policy in which all rulers fall into illicit acts and end up behind the bars of their prisons. True society is the complete opposite.
Hmmm.... Peru is a good country. This can never happen in the most corrupt country in the world called Nigeria. From the president to those in the civil service are very very corrupt. Nigeria judiciary and security agencies are the worst in the world. Very corrupt and they are good at compromising.
Question is why bother running for president in Peru 🇵🇪 it’s like a death sentence at this point… the police entering the presidential residence like that is crazy… it’s the police that needs to be investigated if you ask me… they might as well run the country then.
The father of the current Philippine president, Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Sr. had a group of cronies known as the Rolex 12.
Imagine Indian office bearers including PM, being investigated for wearing expensive clothing and apparel. Lol! For that to happen there should be at least one department that acts consciously and without corruption. Such things don't happen in India. Only political vendetta works, that too not against a sitting leader.
@kamleshlulla5303

Corruption, influence peddling, money laundering, the list goes on. Should the people merely sit back and watch while these elected stooges rob them blind??
Rules should be the same for everyone.......
Such scenarios are like a double edged sword. On one hand nobody is above the law not even sitting Heads of State. On the other hand this will only throw everyone in jail since nobody in politics is holier than thou. This will only create further political instability
A great example stating no one is above the law .... Wish we had this in our country ....
The Philippines needs this.

Did I hear that she has been saving since she was young?😂😂😂😂😂. What an old fashioned way to tell a lie.
This is amazing
Are the law enforcements in Peru not under direct control of executives?
So what made them wait till now for them to take action? Heck just check Indian parliamentarians and their families flaunting luxury cars and estates.
Confiscate the watches and check the serials as the model year can be found there to find out if the collection spans decades as she claims
Good information
14 watches worth around half million she would had to work for around 20 years in the government to afford them!
I like the pun 💡, “time” ⏰might be up for the Peru president 😂
who wears a watch? cell phone is enough.

Politician should not have luxury goods or properties. It's obvious they are not there to help the people. Instead, milking the system.
you're talking about this scandle over watches and it looks like your background advert is for ROLEX 😂
sending support👏
We need that kind of enforcement here in USA
Good 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Peru the most democratic state in the world. Can you imagine this happening to the largest producer and custodians of democracy, USA 🇺🇸 and Europe? I’m sorry but whoever participated in this justice would disappear mysteriously through the government machinery. Keep it up Peru you’re showing us in the west what the real democracy is, no one is above the law in real life & practice 😂
That's good. Philippines should adopt this policy. All these years, Philippines President is the leader of country's corruptions. Great Job Peru PNP. Job well done. All countries should do the same to combat government corruptions.
This should be followed in India...
Who had imagined a sitting chief minister would be arrested on just an allegation by a businessman who had later turned up approver. So we are also sailing on the same boat
Rolex Sales up.. next quarter 😅
Peru has a hx of Military ruling and calling the shots no matter if there is a president.
This is what it Means Holding your politicians accountable
In Tamil Nadu Stalin, Udayanidi and Sabareesan are said to own luxury watches which are much more exclusive higher-end ones priced at several lacs or crores than Rolex. God knows how these politicians and family members acquired these time pieces. Strangely, they don't have "time" for doing good for the common man. Sadly, none realises that these will not go with them in their last journey.
Small time crooks. Ours in the Philippines are so big time. The Marcoses were able to amass so much wealth--buildings in New York, rare and expensive (an understatement) jewelry, gowns and shoes, not to mention grand vacations and shopping sprees. And of course, bank accounts in Switzerland!
Great advertising for the company
When will these things happen in India???? Not just opposition.
Weh... This can never happen anywhere else.
BRavo Peru!

Meanwhile, our guy is just rocking Audemars like it's nothing while the country is in dire financial straits...I wish our authorities could borrow a leaf from the Peruvians.

To become president of Peru you be corrupt. There has not been a decent president in years.
So sad
Her excuse is "she's been saving it since she was young" lmao
Your asked: "Can you imagine this in any other country?" Yes, I can and that is India.... Or at least that's what dictatorship leads to Palki.
Well in Peru, the president can't be charged but can be investigated. The president has 10% approval rate. And it is very obvious she loves power and once she said: "i am the mother of all peruvians". Anyway, she didnt have money in the past 3 years but now she says she have had the rolex for ages but she is ignorant and the model is new so it is all a lie, she has been evading answers, that is why the prosecuter broke into her house but did not arrest here because she can't be charged until she leaves office
Door seems to be open already 😂
This same law should be in India ... corruption, ohhh, my gosh...
Yes in the us
Please don’t buy Rolexes from people’s money, and don’t give additional publicity to the brand
I think Francis president got caught, taking his watch off and it wasn’t even a freaking Rolex.
Osho the Rich men's Guru was also crazy about diamond studded Rolex, be had many swiss watches
Is it highly efficient police forces & intelligence or corrupt officials in other countries?
Actual separation of the branches of power 👍
I wish n pray South Africa can be like this B4 it is to late
What's the problem don't they work..they have credit cards too. Oh please.
Wooow! If only all countries was run this way, no to corruption, audit all heads of state, give account for taxpayers money
In a democratic country there must be a balance of power among the executive, legislative and judicial department of the gov't. Just because you own 14 rolex watches does not mean you are corrupt. Even ordinary people can buy rolex. What's happening in Peru is an abuse of power by the police. Who issued a warrant btw?? ABSURD COUNTRY!
Corruption is everywhere
That door 😂😂😂
What??? does it mean that the President is not Immune to Prosecution while serving in Office as President?
Ridiculous! Who holds the power in this country? The reason why presidents or people holding higher constitutional office is privileged with immunity is exactly to prevent law enforcements misusing their power, prevent coup like situations! This is crazy!
Meanwhile in India ...
Someone betray me.good job
Bolivia should serve as an example to the rest of the world.
Wow Pakistan is going to watch this closely
The world has corrupt ministers president's n govt official's polices etc etc.....Very sad 😢😢😢😢😢😢

Still not close to Pakistan.
The bottom line is if you are a public servant you do not wear or bought rolex luxury watches 😊
I want to know who the two cool cats were in the suits. They strolled into the Presidential Palance like they owned the place. Talk about style!!!
Her watches are more solid than her house 😂
Why’s it called the Rolex case?
That is nonsense anybody can buy watches as long as he or she work and get salary ... Police must respect the president I never ever heard such case where police disrespect a seating president I wonder what law says in Peru
