Agree about the motif dials as well. That 1908 in ice blue is totally inappropriate imo…. Completely clashes with the genre of the piece. In silver however would have been a more proper addition.

It appears that ROLEX is pushing their watches out of the $10-25k range, and forcing us to pay more, or move their customer base to a more "exclusive" level. I'm not sure what sales volumes look like by line, but this feels like. We're going to make fewer watches and charge more for the ones we make.

At this point, maybe we should be looking out to buy an AP or Vacheron if they are making us pay this much for a Rolex or shift to Tudor or omega for the a lower price range. Personally a Rolex Submariner ref 14060m is my favourite watch. Sad they don't make those watches anymore.

I think it's quite simple: Rolex wants to continue to increase its revenue, but until its new factories come online in several years, it can't physically manufacture more than the 1.2 million watches it sold last year. So the only way it can increase its revenue at the moment is by increasing the average cost of units sold--meaning, it can only grow its revenue by shifting more of their production to models with precious metals and gems.

Feels like the new releases are mainly high cost and high bling. Not sure if high style or high class though.

I went to a Rolex dealer this past weekend and tried on a sky-dweller for the first time. It was great. These new ones are even more stunning.

I agree, I think Rolex is revealing new models that might not be fans favorites to focus on cleaning the waiting lists; in the end if all the models are unattainable, this might damage the brand.

There’s no such thing as waiting lists. It’s a trick they use when they understand you’re not going to be a serious watch collector at the boutique or not going to buy jewelry / be a return customers of the whatever side business the ADs are in. They pick this up very easily from your first interactions based on the questions you ask and how you show up to them. So they politely ask you for “your list” to end the interaction. You may get lucky and visit on a week they don’t meet their quota and get offered a watch… consider yourself lucky if that’s the case. If you spit on the watch they offer you, then you’re simply never going to be a customer. That’s the truth. So… “cleaning up the waiting lists” is really not a thing. Waiting lists are cleaned up daily :).

The gray GMT seemed like an easy W and the 1908 was my surprise favorite.

Best release is the new Daytona Le Mans in yellow gold, but nobody would be able to buy that, unless you’re a VIP! 😢

There's a gold version of the Lemans Daytona now. It's off catalog.

Deepsea is now a separate line to Seadweller. "Sea-Dweller" text has been removed from all Deepsea models. Bit of a big deal that everyone seems to have missed. So the 136660 now has two different dials. One is a Sea-Dweller, the other is now not.

I am kinda happy that this year we got no weird sh*t like the emoji Day Date and not many discontinued models. I don't capital-L-love any of the new models, but overall good W&W for Rolex IMO

all of the daydate 36mm got updated roman numerals not just the gold. This is a huge improvement last ones were awful on the 36mm.

What are they discontinuing?

More precious metals and diamonds means more profit margin for Rolex. One will have to buy a solid gold Deepsea and a platinum 1908 before being allowed to buy a steel GMT or Daytona.

The 1908 has so many amazing design elements like the conical crown and that dial is beautiful too. 39 for a dress watch with such a small bezel is ridiculously large though.

Rolex: I've never seen a good one at an authorized dealer (AD); they seem to be available only at the grey market. It feels like they sell their watches directly to the grey market. 😊

That 1908 is stunning. Good value too. Looks great on a leather or canvas strap. Wear to the boardroom or to the beach.

Loved the day dates, and the 1908. Overall I was surprised with the release and love it. I'm super pro this direction! It seems like they are going after new markets and deepening the collectors collection.

Great run-down as always Teddy, but please wear a fitted suit jacket next time even if it wears a little tight. Cheers, mate.

It will be interesting to see how the price of the Pepsi on the grey market performs. It has had a huge boost with the rumours of it being discontinued and so technically, there should be a pullback but who knows!

I own three different Rolex models, and I’m honestly cool with a lackluster Rolex release. We need to chill out, relax, and take a step back: not chase after the next amazing thing.

I’m keeping my fingers crossed that this will be the year I get my 36mm green OP. I’m personally happy it was a quiet year for Rolex. Less distractions so they can crank out some of their current models.

These new Daytonas are absolutely horrendous. 1908 with the guilloche dial is quite nice.

The Black/Grey GMT with the green GMT hand. Why was that hand not grey and the dial writing bit to complement the grey bezel. The green looks like old spares used up.

Suits too big. Shirt needs to be fitted or slim with at least 1/2" small collar. Wearing a suit on camera you should button then sit on the back edge.

That’s a good theory. Rolex wants to be known for more than just stainless steel sports models.

I really like the black/gray GMT. That’s at the top of my list.

Feels like this years new product line is mainly catered to the Dubai market.

In the post covid hype all the new money pips were sporting rolexes and the problem with that is the old money pips would stay away from the brand unless they can create a clear distinction in terms of offering. So Rolex is trying to create the country club.

The new Diamond Cased and Bezel Daytonas are true Miami p*mpin' though and weren't in the official release haha

Teddy was too modest to announce Rolex's real mind blowing announcements! The first is Rolex awarded a Rolex franchise to Teddy's in Cleveland! The second is all Rolex models in the catalogue will be available in 3 months or less for first time buyers at Bucherer/Torneau! Rolex is addressing customer satisfaction big time in 2024!

So damn glad I got what I wanted from the brand and out of my system… a decade ago.

The new GMT is sick. People just want something which looks outrageous but no one would were it out. The release is actually not that boring

The 1908 is actually interesting with the guilloche dial. The Deep Sea has great contrast but is even more impractical in gold - perfect for an NFL lineman's wrist, but not mine 😂 And the blue-green dial on the Sky Dweller is gorgeous, but I'd only be interested without the bejeweled bezel.

I really like the GMT 2. The older reference’s while nice have always been a bit too much colour for me. I like the grey and black bezel and the green hand and text are light accents that aren’t too loud. I would pick this on a jubilee bracelet
